One modification that should be fairly easy to make would be to add a soldiering/defensive bonus to worlds that successfully resist an invasion.
SrGalen
How about "cubing" the map One result would be a playing area that will feel much smaller - currently tiny is 5x5 (25) and gigantic is 16x16 (256)(doing this from memory, so please bear with me if the numbers are off). So the cube root of 256 about 6, so that a (current) gigantic galaxy in 3D would have the feel of a tiny galaxy in 2D.
When you boil down what a Carrier gives you that a Battleship/Dreadnought does not, the main difference that appears is that a Carrier can project force over a greater distance than any other ship (other than a current missile crusier) can respond to. Since all weapon ranges in GC2 are equal to each other and have equal reloading/recharging times, there really is no difference between a huge hull that is primarily an offensive weapons platform with minor defenses and a huge hull that
I don't follow the whole greek hero in smelting byproducts thing... LOL - congrats on the obtuse facade (even though coke is a smelting ingredient, rather than a byproduct)
another need: Make creativity useful. In the description it sounds useful but then ingame you get none of the promised breakthroughs it seems In GC1 this upped the chance that an anomaly would be "25% towards your current tech research" as opposed to "what a waste of time". I've gotten both of these messages in GC2. I would surmise,
Go 'push' the buttons under the portrait on the trade screen - one of those (don't have the game up right now and don't quite remember which one) lists the relationships the minor has with other races.
Going off of SrGalen's point #3 of having degenerating defensive power over rounds, I could see two technology improvements based off of this: 1. A technology that would return defense to 100% each round, as in the examples given on how this would work. 2. A technology that would actually restore HPs between rounds as a % of the hull size. This would be prett
Another item may be the type of connection you have. Unlike DSL, if you are using cable (ala Comcast), the whole neighborhood shares the bandwidth. If this is the case, try downloading in the wee hours when the traffic will be less. I just downloaded 1.4x at speeds of 1500KB/sec +.
Even though I haven't posted up on the Metaverse, having it there so that AI improvements are identified and gross exploits get plugged is a benefit to all players. It's even worth wading through the whines, but then, I'm not the one they're directed towards.... And yes - If you are going to have an arena for scores comparisons, the playing field has to be level - and whoever owns it gets to run the grader and check it out with the transit.
I.e. (this is what I sent to the team) Capital ship with 6 Photon torpedos (attack of 6) vs. Frigate with 20 defense. In each segment of a given round: Round 1: Segment 1: Photon Torp #1 rolls between 0 and 6. Frigate Rolls between 0 and 20. Photon Torp #1 rolls a 5. Frigate Rolls a 15. Result: 0 damage, Frigate Max defense reduced to 15. </TA
Vontage gets my vote - particularly the one where the blonde runs into the ocean full of sharks yelling "Dolphins!" Head On is really close, though - both versions Unlike what they teach about marketing/advertising, I CAN be insulted intellectually enough to NOT buy something on principle!
If you have a standalone designer, part of the interface should be to allow you to pick which techs/levels are available - the tech I see needing this the most would be to select the level of miniturization available.
One change I think we'll have to make is have the shots be based on the weapon and not the ship. That is, rather than a ship targeting another ship, it's the weapon that's targeting another ship and it cycles through the weapons. It'll take some thought with regards to how to handle defenses. 1. Weapon category, weapon type or individual wea
now we have pertol that doesn't have any fumes or anything It may not have any added fragrances, but it's the petrol/gas fumes that actually burn. And, as Marathonas said, it's the fumes that get you somewhat high - although if my reading has lead me aright, it's more lack of O2 in the blood because the chemicals are interfering with the hemogl
Man, what a trip down memory lane! At the risk of seriously dating myself, Neglecting chess/checkers/and the myriad of card games I learned @ my mother's knee, (up to and including Pinochle and Canasta - Bridge came later) my first love TBS had to be the Avalon Hill wargames like Blitzkrieg, Panzer Blitz, Midway, D-Day, Jutland (MAJOR floor space needed for that one!), 1914 (the original - even tho replacing counters to reflect damaged units was a PITA), etc. Still remember having to
Wilco Thanks
+ Stock market no longer gives morale bonus (wasn't supposed to in the first place) 1. [Goes into cell wearing sackcloth, flogs self in penance for spelling out info in thread] 2. I don't know why not - my morale generally goes up after deal
Not entirely - the favorite tactic of both sides of issues these days is to get the federal government to step in and promote their views. See abortion, gun laws, taxation, "No Child Left Behind", "Patriot" Act, etc. Also, the national elections have a major long term effect in that Federal Judges are nominated by the Pres and confirmed (or not!) by the Senate and serve for life. Good local representation is very important, but the framework that the states and local govermen
and again - both servers, same result
Disbanding colonies in 1.3+ sets the class to 0 so the world cannot be reused by anyone. Cute - I never do this, but it's nice to know if the need ever arises. I thought I must have missed it in the change logs, but I just checked and this is an undocumented feature. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/sd_com/smiles/Wink.gif" border
I thourghly understand the mathematical logic of this, but while playing in SP and being painfully made to realize you are fighting an AI, don't you wish you were playing another player in MP so you'd get a different response. I.E. They'd be adapting to your large ship strategy, as well as better able to negotiate, rather then just laught at you in the AI way, but still be
Yarlen, just tried on both servers. Got the following: There was an error downloading and archiving Music for the Uplink: Hacker Elite. The following occurred: Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\_0 | Attempt 3 | -14 The Url is invalid Result: Download and Archive failed (0) When I tried to display the log it closed.
Kyro, may I suggest you sticky this and the carrier dead horse thread to ensure (as much as possible) no more threads get started on the topic? As far as my opinion goes - I am supremely ambivalent about MP for GalCiv. Actually, whether or not I got it would depend on an earnest desire on the part of family to try and beat me at it head to head...
They're not gods, after all. In this universe they are.
From what I've read so far, this sounds like another great game in the making. Congrats and good luck to both Frogboy and Blair (and the respective teams, of course) on getting this one together.
