One way to get around/discourage the tactic of using initial small invasions using high damage (potential) means just to reduce population and then use a main invasion force using standard tactics in order to preserve improvements and PQ is to immediately award soldiering bonuses to individual worlds that successfully resist invasions - so much for EACH invasion repelled. After all, practice makes perfect! You might have it be a decaying bonus after a period of time, but not go away entirely -

That would make programming sense, and in fact be beneficial to the defender since int(sqrt 20 ) + int(sqrt 30) = 9 vs int(sqrt 50) = 7. It could be tested by having a ship with def 1 in each category vs an attacker and check to see if the max defense roll is 3 or 2.

Does the tablet operation system support an on-screen keyboard like my windows-running HP IPAQ does? If so, can you switch it on and off? Maybe you would have to use the clipboard to transfer? Heard on the radio that a couple of sations in S New Jersey are at $1.999 & $1.989. Down at the corner they are at $2.199. And there is one Sun station in Phila that is getting out of the gas business today (says the oil company has kept the wholesale price so high and the rent on the station is going up so he can't make any $ on gas) so he is selling off his inventory at $1.469. [He's opening up a repair garage only down the street.]

What Happens When in Galactic Civilizations II Stardock Forums

Having never been in the situation, what does happen when you attack someone and the Senate says 'NO!'? Does the attack just not occur? Does it constitute a 'vote of no confidence' and your party lose control of the Senate (if you had it)? Do you immediately lose your post as leader (maybe a la Julius Caesar)(which would maybe end the game or just change your name)? Just curious....

From the timeframe and the fact that you have 99% of the planets, I assume you only have military conquest active, are set to very fast research, and are at war with the remaining planets to keep them from flipping?

There is a section of the screen which will say 'if you do [this] your treasury will be ####'. Make sure you don't go below (-500bc) - your spending will come to a screeching halt until you get back above it, and you won't be able to 'buy' anything until you are back into a positive balance.

Couple of really interesting ideas here - particularly imaginative is the one where you end up as someone else. In general, as long as the AI will respond appropriately to the event (colored by their alignment, of course) it could add a lot of fun. Of course, if it REALLY messes up something you were trying to do you can always save it and reload a savegame - then go back and play out the alternative ending.
