Couple of things: 1 Please no DX10 requirement - I won't be "upgrading" to Vista anytime soon and it is my understanding that DX10 won't be available for XT. My laptop(s) video card won't support it, either. 2. AEGIS really isn't an acronym - any expansion is made to fit. Aegis is the name of the shield of Zeus, and is not a coincidence. Couple of comments: Loading is SLOW - over 1 min to get to the Stardock screen, and over another minute of blank screen & music to get to the menu How about something like Debug.err in the directory? At 1024x768 (internal screen) and 1280x1024 (external screen) the response times are really long - sometimes in the seconds - although I haven't tried reduced settings yet Machine specs: DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Operating System:
Just loaded up 61.009 and started tutorial - is the background supposed to be reddish? Thanks for the suggestion, Yarlen
Well, it is too bad about the EG but you have to consider a couple of things: 1. Having a computer put words into sentences in a (semi) comprehensible manner is, even on the face of it, not a trivial effort. Just remember it takes most of us YEARS to learn how to do it (at the "semi" skill level) - and we're much smarter/flexible than computers. And then we forget how hard it was. And become remarkably intolerant at demonstrations of skill inferior to our own. 2. The popu

I agree that influence & military starbases lose a great deal of their utility after the initial objectives have been met. While I don't agree that moving starbases while constructed is the way to go, if this occurs I second the thought that the action of moving them constructed should: 1. cause (or potentially cause)some damage while in motion, and 2. the support functions should be offline while moving and for the turn after. I don't think we want to see an interlo
In multiplayer: No. How frustrating would it be to have to sit there for 10 minutes while one of your opponents took his dog for a walk? In singleplayer Blair said that they might have a pause button and quite possibly allow you to speed up or slow down time. Kind of a Sim-city type deal: pause, slow, medium, and fast. Actually, if you all
So I'm not expecting it until 10pm UK time, after that I'll be listening for the anguished screams echoing across the Atlantic when the office cat coughs a hair ball into the server casing. Then wait 20mins for Frogboy to leg it home to post an update as the entire SDC network keels over. Such an optimist! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/
Outside of saving at when I have to leave the game, I save at major decision points (in case I really made a dumb one or just want to try something out).
since we're on the topic of movies... i have the store-bought verson of the game, and my movies work fine.... but I accidently skipped a cut-scene in the campaign and want to watch it again... but every time i load a save from the map and re-finish it, the scene fails to play. Should I re-start the mission and play from scratch or is there an easier way to re-watch the cut
No secret for the scenario, but you may want to start building some economic buildings (market, etc) to boost income - be careful of adding farms until you are on your feet - higher populations provide a morale penalty which need to be offset with morale buildings &/or lower tax rates.
To spell it out for the newer players, what exactly have we gained when it comes to the essence of "playing a game"? Just a little more insight Yes - in this case, make sure the ships you want to lose first are going to be the ones shot at. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quot
According to the specs you provided, above, the Terran BB's are going to be the 1st targeted - you will lose probably at least 2 if not all 3 of them on the 1st round. The Iconians look like they will stand up pretty good against the Terran Mediums afterwards. My bet is on the Iconians losing 3 ships and wiping out the Terrans.
The evil choice is pretty much how it went down in the US. In the good choice, the motherfrakkin officers need to go to prison along with the pregnant hillbilly. A. The US tried to do BOTH good & evil versions - Good for public consumption and evil somewhere else covertly. B. You need to replace "*** officers" with "CIA Consult
As the immortal Bard (or Chris Marlowe) said, "To thy own self be true." As long as you realize that people may not be what they present as themselves, and all you are risking is a demonstration of your approach to others, it doesn't matter if someone is faking it. Any "damage" from the deceit is the onus of the perpetrator's. It's not as if anything we've discussed here has the potential to ruin anyone's life.
I use a cargo hull outfitted with a couple of engines and Life Spt and as many sensors as it will hold - using the survey module (which counts as 2 sensors). That way it does double duty as a anomaly getter and an explorer, and later, as a picket ship.
Couldn't edit - is there going to be a 'manual' or some general notes available when the beta is released?
Quick question - is there going to be a beta (or even alpha) manual to go along with the beta?
On the Espionage tab there is a button called "Nullify". What is the cost to remove the effects of an enemy saboteur? The same as to place one? What is the mechanism? Do you nullify by placing one of yours on top of the enemy agent? When removed/nullified, are they caught/sent to jail (or the dinner table) or is there a chance for them to escape and go out on another mission? And do they gain experience, and if so, how is this expressed? Damage done, harder to nullify, somet
I'd rather have cream cheese and olives sandwiches....
Reference the buildtime issue on the captured planets: I believe that you "inherit" any accumulated buildtime that the previous owner had invested in whatever ship it was building at the time of conquest.
the game needs a hex grid and not a square grid. A Hex grid would accomplish 2 things right off - 1. Ships would no longer effectively travel ~40% faster on the diagonal. 2. Visualizing starbase circles of influence would be intuitive, rather than "let's see - 8 blocks along a straight path and 5 1/2 blocks on the diagonal. How m
the game needs a hex grid and not a square grid. A Hex grid would accomplish 2 things right off - Anomalies should either randomly respawn or be created by events in game.
Actually, you are waiting zero turns - you get it at the end of this one. Or, the devs can totally confuse us who have gotten used to it by adding 1 to the countdown variable in the comments in DA.....
