The difference here is that (besides beeing able to learn the game now) you can really put forward your ideas and they can still be included in the final product. It's a one (almost) year beta just for that. For examples Ranges were included after some pushing from a number of beta testers. UP issues are beeing designed also with our inputs. Startup Screens have been redone because of complains. ...and many more. So, if you want just to play, possibly wait, if you w

Ok, for me .84 version works. I mean I don't get the type mysmatch anymore. Re the SDS0004, it's still there but at each manual retry it picks up from where it stopped much more quickly (do not try to redownload files).

Ok, I also have the fatal error type mismatch... :( What should I do? Pat, do you have a test build also for me? ;) Do you have a link where you put the latest "certified" and "beta" for our usage as we get broken? Thanks, Gherardo

Let me get you quick replies. :) Techs: good and bad make 2 different paths. What you say could be made but don't know effects on playability or fun. Ships: there was a ship editor in OS/2 version that was working in a similar way. I suppose will come back in the future. Planets: a planet is a big place to build things on ;) Races: don't like the idea to give birth to a new race. For the remaining part, yes and it's partially already that way. Eve

Jack, the silver bullet is just a way to visualize why something could happen. Practically it's just a way to limit unlimited killing. I got the idea from a game called King Maker (Avalon Hill) where in each battle, beside the result, nobles were called (killed) by battle resolution cards. This avoids a powerfull noble to clean up the board. Steve, NNN should be the same for all otherwise you'll be going building scouts and attacking avatars just to try for the silver shot ;)

There is merit in fleets, retreats and others, but it possibly won't mean better gaming.... but more option to manage for us and for Brad to code in AI. :notsure: Isn't it? What if (to avoid mass kills) we add something like the silver bullet so that every ship can be killed in every combat, even the most powerfull? It could be like an additional roll (for each combat) between 1 and NNN (make your choice of number). If you get 1 then attacking ship is destroyed. If you get NNN

Quote: "IF a ship's defense > attack then IF it is attacked it's "return fire" will be its attack + defense." To me looks an unbalance the other way around but we'd need to play it and to carefully design ships so that none can have intentionally defense -1 than attack (7-8 or 14-15, ...) but with attack good enough to make victims. BTW, what then would be the full battle? Re the interdiction field look like adding a new tool to asymmetric battles to kill and retreat with f

BTW, I'm sure that the AI has all those listings + statistics + rankings in realtime.... but we know Brad would give left & right arm to have a better than us AI. We'll never be given those handy tool to sweep the galaxy from AIs LOL

Could you please make the improvement list ordered by either value or alphabetic? Currently I cannot understand what is ordered for... :( Additionally ALL scroll arrows are slightly difficult to use. I'd apreciate if keeping the mouse clicked over it would continuously scroll. Currently it's click, click,click,click,click,click,click,click,... :VOMIT:

Attack vs defense rolling till the end or (my suggestion).... >Attack vs defense then defender's attack vs attacker's defence The later has the merit that unbalanced ships (a lot attack but miserable defenses) could not wipe out all the others. This also would mean that in a clash both ships have the opportunity (like in reality ;) ) to fight back if they survive the first shot. This would give some value to defense and not only to indiscriminate att

From the planet screen when you review one by one the improvements we would really apreciate if you could add: 1) some text saying "We have finished ....." 2) (as previously suggested) a minimap to show where in the galaxy is the planet.

I've found very usefull to use the USS Hero not only for cleaning the space from any bonus I can reach but also (a little later) to defend while building battleship/dreadenough. In last game I had 61 HP 27 attach and 16 defense. With those numbers anything not a dreadenough was at my mercy. I just had to manage my hitpoints ;) On the contrary I've not seen a smart usage of the survey ship from the AI, but I like it LOL

With reference to GC only, I'd say that DN is GC + updates for 1 year & renewal option. It's a way to pay for GC team to plan & release updates to it. The other way is to pay GC & then pay upgrades/stories/expansion packages as needed. Generally speaking it's a new way to sell games. It's an open team with developers and players. Take it and for 1 year you'll get all is done. Renewal was something in the range of 20$/year. BTW, I also started (payed ;) )for GC but now I al
