12pak, a bit of advice on any beta, set your autosave interval to 1, or at least as low as the game will allow. This does one of two things, 1) allows you to restart the game with less lost actions. 2) allows you to identify cases where the crash is reproducible from a saved game.

I would also like to hear what ever encouragement we can get from the Devs about Win10, but I think it is a bit early for any real assessment by the SD devs concerning Win10, seeing as Win10 will not be released until sometime this summer. Even if they had a Beta version of Win10, the final release could be somewhat different.

The AI we have been seeing up to now has been a very basic place holder for the real one, which they started working on in January. Stardock says maybe the real one will appear in Beta 5.
Perhaps the best compromise is to require a scaled number of turns to upgrade depending on distance from a shipyard.
To an extent, I thought it already was. When close to a shipyard it takes one turn. A bit farther away it takes 2 turns. Much farther away it takes 3 turns. I have not seen it take 4 turns yet, but perhaps I have not upgraded a ship far enough away to see it happen. This is on an immense galaxy. A

The same can be done with HWMonitor at http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html Although it doesn't run in the sidebar and it can interfere visually with the game (in windowed mode).

Bamdorf, have you tried splitting the SDSupportTool output file into two or more zip files and appending them a "reply" at a time to the ticket? If the problem is the transmitted volume of data, this should work as a work around, and the SD Support devs should be advised of the problem.

Saying that a missile's contrail can only happen in atmosphere is like saying that the only component in a contrail is the reaction between the heat generated by the propellent and the air it is traveling through. Forgotten is the result of the chemical reaction that produces the missile's thrust which will also show in the path the missile took. If oxygen is one of the components used to produce that chemical reaction, the oxygen must come from somewhere. Even in atmospheric missiles

There are also a couple of good ones that run in the "sidebar" (available with Win7, not available in Win8-8.1 but "7 sidebar" works nicely) are "Core Temp" (at www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp ) by Arthur Libeman and "GPU Temp" (at www.gputemp.com ). Both of these sidebar gadgets show temp, usage, and other data, and allow me to keep an eye on how well the game is using the CPU and GPU while I am playing the game in windowed mode.

I'm inclined to think that temps as high as 75C is a bit high for GC3, at least for newer computers. Mine is about a year and a half old, and tends to run GC3 in the 35-40C range on both the CPUs and the GPU (an Intel I7-4770 and a NVidia Geforce GT 640). As to the risks of such high temps, I have been told that, these days, CPUs and GPUs tend to try to protect themselves from overheating by reducing their clock speeds when some specified temperature is reached. You mentione
The second one: No it does not. That is only the case for programs that properly close any open child processes/handles. If those are left open, for some reason... such as a bug causing them to remain open or close more slowly than expected, the os will assume them to remain open potentially forever in the case of an infinite loop or a thread waiting for a signal/event that will never come due to a bug. The SDSupportTool will gather what is needed from the dump file and other important information and put it all into a zip file that can be sent with a ticket. For more information, see the pinned post in the Galciv3 support subforum " GalCiv III Support FAQ ".

meduz4: Have you opened a ticket? While SSDs have gotten a little comment on these forums, the Integrated GPUs have gotten quite a bit of comment. The SD devs have been delving into them quite a bit. I think your best bet is to run the SDSupportTool and open a ticket. Also see the post: Complete List of Errors Posted for Beta 4 Patch 2 0.72.2.0 (& older). </a

I don't know why I have this feeling that these numbers are all way too low, but I will go with a cost of $10 Million and a target sale of 1 million copies, which will build a slush fund for the DLCs (plus a bit of profit for Brad).

Let's start with the basics: 1) How much RAM do you have? 2) What are you're virtual memory settings? 3) How about some system specifications, like CPU type, GPU type, etc.
I remember reference to "the Star Wars effect" in one of the conversations. I love the movies, but George Lucas ruined space battles forever. We will never, as a public, really accept realistic space battles. Last dev stream, I heard they are putting in lens flares. It sounded like they were saying the battle viewer was too "clean" and not like popular movies. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. [/quo
No, it is a game issue. Reported multiple times by multiple people.
I see this happen a lot with other games and apps, along with tasks failing to quit during shut down. Every time I see this I run SFC and the problem is fixed for me. Any time a program signals to the OS that it is quitting, the OS has the ultimate responsibility of seeing to
