I fondly remember lots of calls our tech supports got that resulted in some variation of "RTFM" that would certainly support the possibility of something this unreal. Cheers, Jack

It does the same with shift lock on. With no shift I get "Zz". Numerals are also doubled. All of the other letters work fine in all three modes (unshifted, shift key, and shift lock). I think parts of this problem was reported before but I recall someone asking if the problem was related to a Swedish keyboard. But it has to be more of a common problem if my USA and Gherardo's Italian keyboard also have troubles with it. Cheers, Jack

It is a "real time" strategy game. BIG difference. GalCiv is a "turn based" strategy game, not a "real time" game. I have a number of real time strategy games that I just can't play because they keep running away on me, like "Sid Meier's Civil War", and "Starship Troopers". It all gets down to how fast you can react to what the game throughs at you. That forces you into being reactionistic and is not my idea of strategy games. I see "real time strategy" in PC games as an oxymor

While exploring a "space anomoly" I discovered that the research project I was working on did not complete on the next turn. So I when I got a survey ship next to another anomoly I switched the research project to the longest one on the list in the research panel. If the space anomoly was not a "research01" I switched the research back and continued on to the next anomoly. When I got the "research01" anomoly again I checked the research panel and it said the current research would

Cari, The last build I have seen was on 3/2, so I suspect we have yet to see your fix for ghost ships. The symptoms I see are the same as others have stated here: 1). A transport can not capture a star whose defenses have been destroyed in the current turn. 2). None of my ships can occupy the tile that was occupied by an enemy ship I have destroyed until the next turn. I get the crash at pressing "turn" so often that I have just about given up trying to finish a

Alex, I would love to provide some screen shots. Just one problem. I have Windows ME. I have not been able to take a screen shot. Noone has come forth with how to enable them (PrtScr and Alt-PrtScr do nothing).

Scott, You may be correct. But this still does not explain a shield that vanishes when no ships with defence capability has left orbit. The shield is there one turn, gone the next, no (zero) ships left orbit. Cheers, Jack

Steen, The OS/2 version had many techs that increased the number of moves per turn a ship had available. I can't imagine a GalCiv game without this, and a number of the techs are in the tech file. None of us has said anything before because this is still alpha level code. Also, Brad has mentioned that "shipyards" will be in the game, just like in the last few OS/2 releases. Again, I suspect it is too early yet. Cheers, Jack

It has nothing to do with the number of ships in orbit, nor is it related to ship completions. I have had this occur when scrolling across it then not there when scrolling across it again in the same turn. This is not a way to recreate it, as it is not consistant and does happen under other conditions. I have yet to get any handle on any particular action/condition that is involved. Cheers, Jack

All I got was a white screen. Could my AntiVirus program be protecting me from something? Are your machines now infected with some undesireable something or other? Cheers, Jack

I think this message board format is a good basic start. It needs a lot of features before it will really fly, and when they are put in, this format style will really be popular. The teaser is indead interesting, but I agree with Paul (Solitair) that it would not sway me to buy Galciv without the demonstration that it is truly a turn based strategy game. Cheers, Jack
