Do you mean the file named "Anomolies.galaxy"?
Lucky_Jack
Thanks, Jack
On a 56K modem that "connected at 48,000 bps" it took me two hours to download. However, it is many files and the DGM is smart enough to know how far it got. I have had cases where it got all but the last few files, and when I re-tried it only took about 5 minutes to get the last ones. Cheers, Jack
So far I have only gotten this with Autoturn off on a tiny galaxy. I am still testing combinations of the two. Cheers, Jack
I was just about to post that I had a case where the ship list showed two USS discoveries and three mockingbirds after the USS discovery had colonized a planet when I saw your append. But I thought it was quite an interesting phenomina that others might enjoy it (I assume your fix will solve this one too). :) Cheers, Jack
In yet another game the ship list panel thinks I have 2 USS Discovery ships. Cheers, Jack
The number of USS Mocking birds in the ship display seems to vary continually. I got a second one right after the second turn in a game. After loading a saved game I had only one again. After colonizing a planet and getting cash as several anomalies I had four in the ship list panel. Cheers, Jack
If I think a particular save file/folder may be useful in debuging what is the recommended procedure for preserving them for stardock? Cheers, Jack
The sequence was: After moving a couple of turns with autoturn off I set a destination for USS discovery (original colony ship) and saved. Then I colonized a planet, colected cash at an anomoly with the USS Mockingbird, then loaded. It crashed during the load. Here are the details from the SmartException file: ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows ME Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS (IBM) Application Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLAT
We now have music for research completions. Nice fade out effect when leaving the research screen. Well done. Cheers, Jack
The destination circle is still there after the "load" but the ship (I only had the mockingbird) does not move when I click on "turn" and the circle disappears. Cheers, Jack
It always sets autoturn to yes. Cheers, Jack
I also got this when exiting from the options panel. The debug file that I sent Brad via e-mail may have some clues. If you need a new copy of the debug file let me know via e-mail and I will send it. Cheers, Jack
"Pear"? Jack
OK. I had already sent it via e-mail before I saw your response. Save or delete as you see fit. Cheers, Jack
This is my first run at the 2/19/2002 build. There are so many errors indicated in the debug file that I decided to just send it all under one thread, except for the very exceptional other three threads I just created: 1) Crash on exit at ..... on quit from main menu. 2). Suddenly I have two mockingbirds .... 3). GalCiv does not go to sleed when minimized. OOOPPPSSS. No attach option. How to I get this debug file to you guys? I will send a note with it to Brad for
The debug file builds rapidly and runs out of control when GalCiv is minimized. The following lines are repeated as fast as GalCiv can write them: --------- Debug Message: Surface Lost. Now restoring. Debug Message: Trying to restore back surface. Debug Message: DirectDraw Error: WRONG MODE Debug Message: Lock: Unable to restore surface. --------- The debug file will be attached to a group thread. Cheers, Jack
I don't know how I did this but suddenly the ship panel (on the right of the screen) started showing two scout ships. I have two save files so I will try to analise this further. The debug file will be appended with a group problem report. Cheers, Jack
I tried to send this to Stardock via SmartException but all I got was an empty Netscape window. Here are the details: It happened after I made two saves (each after a different turn), went to the main menu, then hit "quit". ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows ME Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS (IBM) Application Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION Crash Addr: 004A2CAB 01:000A1CAB E:\DRENGIN.NET\GALCIV\GALC
Hey. Music. Much better than dead silence. Nice minimap cover for unexplored area. More later. Cheers, Jack
Sounds like an argument. But I don't buy it. I don't like argumentst that claim an impossiblilty. I don't believe in "its impossible". Cheers, Jack
Mark up a first for me. GC downloaded and installed without error the first time I tried (took 2 hours). I must have hit everything just right. No one way disconnects, no hickups, no hits, no runs, no errors. I guess that proves you get lucky once in a while (remember that I have the world's worst ISP). Tomorrow I shall take GC out for a spin. Cheers, Jack
I tried it out some time ago. Brad, you are correct when you said it takes a certain type of gamer to play it, and I am not that kind. Cheers, Jack
Should have gotten Drengin to begin with. One of the caveats on the subscription is that it was for one year or until GalCiv ships, which ever is later. Cheers, Jack
Paul, How would you explain a tech advancement that allowed an increase of range to a colony ship but not other ships? Cheers, Jack
