Personally, I would rather see GalCiv inspiring other games. Cheers, Jack

Paul, So why do you think France could not win in Vietnam? Perhaps it was an unwinable "war" under any circumstance. Cheers, Jack
It was an option in the OS/2 version. I would hope that if it got introduced into the Windows version it would also be an option. Cheers, Jack
3 years? That sounds familiear. Having been in the computer industry from 1967 until I retired at hte end of 1999 I kept hearing those words "it will slow down in xx years". It never happened. It may yet, but I will wait until I see it happen before I believe it will. Cheers, Jack
Yup. I kept wondering why all of Brad's interviews sounded familiar. ;) ;) Cheers, Jack
I think this might be true for some techs, like batteries, but not all. Look at the advances in computers since the first electronic one in 1946. The progression has ben nothing but exponential. Cheers, Jack
CIV3 has that, but I'm not sure I like it. If you run out of a critical resource don't your chances of winning dissapear? Cheers, Jack
Wow. Now I don't know what to say. This thread shows up with 0h07m. The next one shows 1h57m even though I only posted to it 57 minutes ago. I have tried several things to get this thread to show the same error as the other one does, but to no avail. So this must be some kind of an intermittant thing that may be hard to find. Cheers, Jack
Posts less than an hour show up as 1 hour plus xx minutes, then if you refresh the forum after the thread has been posted for more than 1 hour it shows 1 hour xx minutes for the next hour. Cheers, Jack
I think this is a very good plan. "Saved games" is going to be difficult to test and should get a lot of exposure time for testing. There are many things that can go wrong with it in so many ways that need to be tested for that the sooner we can start testing it the better. :) Here is a thought I would like to share that may enhance testing of shared games -- Fill us in on the format of the save file, or provide us with something to view it so we can check that ev
Wow. All those blue drones and only one queen bee? Or have I missread ".. a lone female. Only females .."?? Cheers, Jack
Brad, Please at least comment on this. I find it very frustrating trying to locate the threads for which I have not yet viewed new updates. Thanks, Jack
I just went to Wincustomize to edit my account to get more days of threads here, but it seems to not have changed how many days of threads I get. It was seven days before I changed my account to 50 days and it is still seven days. I am looking for some of the old threads so that I can put closure statements in them. Cheers, Jack
Good interview, but then, Brad has always given a good interview. IMO it would have been a good idea to give more content about the story line of the game and some more detail (more indepth) of the differing paths to winning the game to stir more interest. Cheers, Jack
And we always wondered why most of the new kids fresh out of college could not write executable code. :notsure: Cheers, Jack
Without a "marked read/unread" feature the time since last post has been my only way of knowing whether I have read the latest posts to threads or not. With the current method of marking when a thread was last posted I can no longer tell which threads I want to look at again. It is a big step backwards. At least with the old NG forum we could easily see the new posts. Cheers, Jack
It should be 1:17 AM in Stardock land, and the mosst recently posted thread shows only an hour has passed after the last post (which is ok) but a lot of threads posted within the last few hours show "1 day". Shouldn't those which were posted less than 24 hours ago show the hours and minutes since their respective last posting? Cheers, Jack
Yes. Very good idea. Cheers, Jack
Hey Gherardo, Don't forget. A good soup has to be simmered. Rush it and you risk burning it. ;) Cheers, Jack
You have to go to the new www.galciv.com to get the encyclopedia and screen shots. I was just there and had a look. The posts on this hidden forum are there as well. The logon from this forum works on it too. Cheers, Jack
What's the word on the new www.calciv.com? Are we supposed to switch over there now or are we supposed to stay on this one? I notice that the threads from here are already over there (or is it all the same entity with different pointers pointing into it?). Cheers, Jack
I like Paul's imagination too. But... lets remember that this is a _NEW_ GalCiv, re-written from the ground up. Some things are going to have to come later, else GalCiv will never exit the building. Brad has built a schedule for development and shipment. He _MUST_ contain the design in order to meet that schedule. 1). Let's continue to give new ideas -- ---BUT--- 2). Let's not expect them all in the first release. Cheers, Jack
I've been called that. But I always wondered what that person's agenda was. LOL Cheers, Jack
Alex, with how wrong Georgie was about the energy situation it scares the $&!+ out of me that he thinks you are right. :d Cheers, Jack
