Nor is there a tab to grab with the mouse to slid up and down. The scroll bar is incomplete without it.

yah, I found the equivalent in Netscape but the only thing it seems to change is the character size of the area in which you enter an append. Cheers, Jack
Found it, but it took some looking. I also want to change my nickname but it didn't allow for that. If it has to be done by an administrater, I prefer Jack, but "Ferengi Jack" would do. Thanks, Jack
How do we view the posts that don't have any activity for over 2 days? Thanks, Jack
Is there a way to change and save the font size setting for this forum on my machine? It is so small that I am ending up with a permanent squint. The CTRL_] that netscape provides generally does not seem to have any affect.
Frames of what per second? And does it have a use? Is it something that can be used in testing, debuging, problem determination, etc.?
Does anyone know why? It seems to be quite random even though no ships are put into or taken out of orbit.
The military and social project lists (and perhaps others) do not have sliders. Will they in the future?
There is a little white rectangular box in the upper left corner of the GalCiv window with numbers in it. What is it?
I thought I would post this now before trying to recreate it to see what kind of a race I could start amongst us testers (should be fun). I moved the slider for spending to 0%, then clicked on the left arrow for spending, which put spending to some astronomical amount. Having done this by accident and not noticing what I had done I advanced the game a couple of turns. I then noticed that I was horribly in dept so I corrected the spending slider to 10%. Then
I was able to select an enemy ship and move it from orbit. Cheers, Jack
I am finding that the tab key has the same problem. If you tab past a ship without moving it, the tab key will no longer find the ship.
I have finally gotten past this problem. I have, arguably, the worst ISP around. I have diffinitively identified these failures to the tendency my ISP has to do strange disconnects and sudden cessation of input data. (Could this be a loss of syncronization?) Also, the error indications I got from DGM were very confusing, making it difficult for me to isolate and diagnose the cause. Please see my comments and suggestions in the drengin.cm news group for w
I have finally gotten past this error. Please see my post in the drengin.cm news group for observations and recommendations. I suspect this problem was the results a file download error (sudden input cessation or bit dropout).
After resolving the sds0004 problems I had after the first instance of this problem I am now able to run an install to this point with consistant regularity. If anyone has a clue for where to look for the source of this problem, please let me know. What type of problem is it? Where might there be some debug information with more data? Is this a file problem or a registration problem? Etc. Thanks, Jack
Another question: Why is the server name changed when it gets stored on this forum? The name of the server with out all the http colon slant slant stuff is scripting.,stardock.com Cheers, Jack
I just tried again to load GC. I found the following in the debug file. ---------- Debug Message: File size is is not correct: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\drengin\gc1\Base\Data\CoreShips.SHI_ Error: SDS0004 - Could not find file CoreShips.SHI_ on server http://scripting.stardock.com/ -------------------- So I deleted the file, and got further. This time I am looking at the file that failed before retrying. Here is what I have: file: GCTech.TEC_ Modified 1/11/2002 5:5
I haven't heard anything yet from Pat. Should I be looking for him (her?) on the drengin.cm news group? I tried checking if the server "scripting.stardock.com" was functional and got a home page from it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling BUGS, which worked without a problem. I suspect there is something residual on my system from the "error 13" I got with the first install of GalCiv I tried. Cheers, Jack
I have received some suggestions from others (in the wrong threads) that I have tried. If these are any help to Pat, I want him (her?) to have these resutls. 1). Uninstall and re-install GalCiv - I could only delete the GalCiv folder and try install again. No glory (:( 2) Uninstall (with unwise) and re-install DGM - again, NG (:( Thanks, Jack
When playing GCos/2 I was using the goveners most of the time. I would turn a govener off for a planet where I was doing something special. When I got a new tech and had to change the list it would cause a disruption by switching to my new list before completing what was already in progress. This often caused lost work. If it was working on a project taking 400 shields and had completed 350, and I added a project that takes only 300 shields the loss was 50 shields. This
Brad, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Jack
jleqere wrote: "you can't. I was telling you of a message that talks about the error". I don't see any reference to any error message in RHB's "report", let alone an "error 13". I have another thread for the error 13 message I got. Perhaps we should shift this discusion there. This forum REALY, REALY, needs a search capability. Jack
Brad wrote: "I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling". Brad, I assume you are refering to the "error 13" not to my query of how to do searches on this forum. See the two other threads I started today, one specifically for the error 13 problem and the other one about getting message sds0004 when trying to reinstall. BTW, with DGM, how do you "uninstall" if the install failed. The uninstall button is greyed out until the install succeeds. There
jlegere wrote: "chck out the message titled 'Report' from RHB". I don't see anything there that tells how to do a search in this forum. I want to find all posts with the phrase "error 13" in their text. How do I do this?
Doesn't work. See the thread I started titled "Message: SDS0004 - Could not retrieve file CoreShips.SHI_ on server http://scripting.stardock.com/". (:(
