I am beginning to think GC3 has a memory leak. When I started GC3 up my total RAM usage was only 3.8G. After exiting, restarting, and reloading a saved game from within a game, my total RAM is now 4.8G. SHOWMEM showed, and continues to show a total pool size of 385M. I think I need a way to find out where the OS has assigned memory.
How can I create and get you a debug.err?
The game creates the debug.err file while you are playing the game. The file is quite large, so it is not a good idea to cut and past it here (although that will work). Using DropBox is a better, faster, and more convenient way. Camera angle also affects this condition. If I am looking at the galaxy from directly above the lines go away (with bloom and ambient occlusion disabled).
The post titled Horizontal lines as well. one more photo try is a better thread for this issue. The symptoms are identical and there is more information there.
Here is my debug.err .
Here is another screenshot showing the lines for two empires. Mine is blue, the Drengin's is red. This implies that the color of the lines is related to the empire owning the ZOI. I used DropBox for this one and it was very easy and convenient.
Larsenex, I am glad you managed to get a picture of this onto the forum. It is exactly like what I reported in "Strange horizontal lines .." but I was unable to figure out how to add a snapshot to my post. My problem is also with a GeForce GT 6xx product line (mine is the GT 640 with 16G). The entire series uses the same driver. There are some differences, however. 1) What level d
When I updated my GPU driver (NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 Driver Date/Size: 6/12/2014 19:47:35, 17553032 bytes), I started getting extraneous horizontal lines on the main map centered generally on my Zone of Influence. This happened at several resolutions in windowed mode and in full screen mode. I found that turning off both "enable bloom" and "enable ambient occlusion". If either of these are on the lines return. I am aware that this could be a problem with either the driver o

I believe that entire method of gathering resources is now superseded by the new way of planting a star base near some resources and it will now 'harvest' said resources ...all of them. I have not seen anything for asteroids. I would think that a star base will eventually harvest those somehow. <b
Come on guys. Star Wars is fiction. Battle Star Galactica is fiction. Star Trek is fiction. Each hedged on science to enhance the enjoyability of their story from time to time. And you can see more of this in David Webber's "Honor Harrington" series, where, even though he used a great deal of scientific information to support his stories, he too found he had to hedged with science slightly to keep the reader's focus on his story. As long as the hedging isn't so bad that it
Hello Everyone! I just downloaded the Alpha Edition of Galactic Civilization III. Like what I see so far but I do have one request. Can the start up script be adjusted to require thick rings around Saturn and can the editable terrain on Earth be limited to land tiles? I would also ask that Greenland not be one of the tiles, not to knock Greenland as I'm sure it's a great place, but it should not take precedence over the main co
If something like this is implemented, could it be optional for lower skill levels? It sounds like a major game element that may take time to learn how to deal with. This may also be a good idea for any major part of any game like the GC series that has a lot of major parts.

All of the menu tabs should have text in them although some of them will be greyed out. Several people reported this problem at the very first release of the alpha and their problems were solved by upgrading their GPU drivers. There is a support FAQ that covers checking what level your GPU driver is and getting upgrades. In any case, knowing the particulars about your graphics card (make and model) and driver (level and date) are e
The above has gotten me thinking, always a bad thing to do. 1). I think the FOW we have in Alpha 2 could very well be a place holder, perhaps even one that may have to remain until one of the DLC's is produced. I think coming up with an FOW that is unique (or at least not so dated) and makes sense within a space game will take a lot of thought, work, and time. 2). I think that the idea that we don't even know wh

The shipyard and the ship designer look like the same thing except that the shipyard, since it is accessed from within a game, is restricted by what tech has been researched within the game and the ship designer, if you want my guess, probably will not, which looks a lot like it was on GC2.

Only 5? Are you talking about on a tiny galaxy? On a small galaxy I have built as many as 15. And the support in build 0.20 is still quite primitive and simply there to prove the support mechanics. They have announced that the first Beta build will have almost all of the final release features in it. By reading between the lines in the tentative schedule posted by Frogboy, it looks like we will see much more for starbases in Alph
