Unauthorized porting and distribution of our skins in WinCustomize Talk WinCustomize Forums

It has been brought to my attention that a company called Almediadev http://www.almdev.com/ has ported many of our WB skins to their format and is distributing them with their product. They sell VCL libraries that allow software developers to make their applications skinnable. Below is a list of the skins they distribute. Each skin library on this site has a little block at the top of the page telling you what program you need to use the skins in that library. In the case of WindowBlinds skins (.wba files), you need WindowBlinds. http://www.windowblinds.net

Oh, and action speaks louder than words. /me is on a cliche kick this morning Please don't get me wrong. I have no animosity toward anyone. I'm just saying that I started making WB skins because I didn't see enough of what I was looking for. If others did the same (and they will), there would be more innovation.

Originality is important to me, and keeping up with new developments in skinning software is important to me, but innovation in the sense of making a skin that is totally different is not necessarily worth while. My ultimate goal is to make my computer look better while remaining usable. I tend to think of skinning in reference to WindowBlinds. So, I may not be seeing the whole picture here, but that's just where my interest mainly lies. I think that WindowBlinds skins are as innovative as ever. Every new skin that comes out is innovative if it doesn't look just like a previous one. I think the logon prompt uses whatever style the computer's Administrator account is using. If you log in as Administrator and change to the classic look, that might change the style of the logon prompt. In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu and select Accounts. In the Internet Accounts window that opens, click the Add button and select News. Then, just answer a couple of questions and your all set. The news server is news.stardock.com.

Microsoft has 'locked' their theme manager to prevent the use of themes that are not digitally signed by Microsoft. As a result, it is not possible to use themes/skins with XP without a third party solution, like WindowBlinds.

Also, I believe your folder have to be set to classic mode in you Folder Options.

The WB skin is LightBlue by Alexandrie https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?Library=1&skinid=2588 and the DX theme appears to be a blank theme with various objects dropped onto it. All of them are available in the DesktopX library here.

I don't think you can have transparency on MDI buttons with bitmaps using magic pink. You can use transparency with them if you use alpha blending with targa files though.
