I am in no way trying to defend Comcast or any other cable company - the cost of using them has expanded enormously with little concurrent expansion of benefit - or to denigrate any other commenter. In fact, the Dr.'s ultimate point that we need to combat the consolidation of telecommunications capacity is completely on target. But it bothers me when points are made which are contradictory. The argument that there should be no limits on usage because the resource in question - band

After the freak storm we had here in the northeast, with attendant loss of power and all data streams (cable, phone, internet), for extended periods, I have been pondering moving to a setup that does not depend on physical connections to the outside world. (I still have to work out the pesky power question; finding an appropriate generator is going to be fun.) So I have been exploring the idea of a setup which would pull the internet into my house over 3G or 4G, and then connecting vi

I wouldn't let your anticipation build too much. I think that there are some problems that support doesn't know how to fix. I have an icon-related problem related to Icon Packager and the default Library icons. After a suggestion from the forums failed to resolve the problem completely, I put a ticket in to Stardock support on July 14, 2011. Other than the automated response, I have yet to hear anything back.

Hi Lantec, Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the .bat file did not seem to do much. When it ran, it generated an error message, the first time saying it couldn't find the file, then on a retry, asking if I was sure that the file was compatible with 64-bit. In the end, I uninstalled IP through Impulse, which seemed to reset the system, restoring the Windows default icons for the Library folders and others. I then reinstalled IP through Impulse, and it now see

I noticed recently that whenever I changed IP themes that the Library folder icons (Documents, Music, Pictures, Video) remained the same. They appeared to be a recolorized version of icons from the "Electric Grid" IP theme. After multiple attempts to load new themes were unsuccessful in changing the icons, I decided to remove the "Electric Grid" package from IP and set IP to Windows Default to try to get back to some other icons. I have also tried "Repair Icon Images",
When Tiles is set to hide the taskbar the taskbar should remain invisible as the taskbar is not simply being set into autohide. I would advise against using the ObjectDock method to hide the taskbar as this is incompatible with the correct functioning of a number of system tray icons on Windows 7. Do you have any other applications running which may do anything to the taskbar? The power options are not

This may or may not have been mentioned by others, but I have noted the following: If you set Tiles to load automatically at startup and also use Tiles to suppress the Win7 taskbar, the taskbar is not completely suppressed. Rather it goes into Autohide mode, causing it to reappear whenever I cursor over the icons in my ObjectDock dock (docked to the bottom of the screen). I have resolved this by using ObjectDock to suppress the taskbar. Also, I have noticed that unless

I had a similar problem almost a year ago, and finally got the response below from Stardock Support. Possibly some of the more technically oriented can determine what problem the solution is actually correcting. In any event, following the instructions will resolve the problem. The only reason I remember this is that I had the same problem a day or so after I also updated to the latest version of IP, and went back to dig it out of my saved e-mail. (The note mentions XP and Vis

I have also noticed that the "folder view" tabs do not work well at all. I have had to do a restart four separate times while trying to set these up. The program doesn't seem to be able to handle more than one "folder view" in the same dock. If you try for more than one, the images freeze up on the screen and all interaction comes to a halt. Maybe it's a 64-bit Win7 issue, but I have given up on the concept and am sticking with the stack docklet, which continues to work quite nicely.<
Copy everything in the folder for each setup and then I assume to change themes you just replace the contents as needed.
So as best I can figure it out, I copy the contents of the "CurrentTheme.ini" file into a new file with a different name, say "theme2.ini", create a new layout (which is stored under "CurrentTheme.ini", then make a copy of the rebuilt "CurrentTheme.ini" file under a different name, say "

I assume that I am missing something truly simple here, but what happened to the idea of themes? In the older version of OD, I could create different dock layouts and combinations, save them, and then load the one I wanted to work with at any time. Granted, the theme management system was not top of the line, but now it has disappeared completely. From what I can see so far, I am stuck with whatever is on the screen; if I want to change the layout I have to add docks, install

Along with my internal disks, I have an external disk attached to my computer. At some point in the past, for some reason I no longer remember, I manually altered the disk icon (right click, properties, etc.) This was back under XP as I recall. Now I am working with Win7 64-bit, running IP 5.00.021 (32-bit it seems) and I have realised that no matter what Icon package I apply, that drive icon never changes. Is there some way I can restore/repair the icon for this drive so that

I am using IP version 5.00.021. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have been using IP5 since it came out and at no time has Settings-> System Settings -> Windows Settings ever been an active option. Is the desktop icon size restricted to the "classic", "medium" and "large" sizes offered when right-clicking on the desktop? I seem to remember older versions of IP allowing users to scale the icon size by selecting a pixel size. Does this have

As others have reported, version 4.98 of IP5 cause many of the icons in Object Dock PLus to go to a default (text) image. Unloading IP5 ver 4.98 resolves the problem, but now I have no IP. Is there a way to re-download and reinstall the 5.01 version of the program through Impulse? Right now, all I see being available is the 4.98 version which is incompatible with ODplus. Or can I simply utilise the 4.21 version of IP available through impulse? I am running Win7

I just moved to Win7 (64-bit Home Premium) this weekend, and so far everything is working quite nicely. One thing I just can't seem to get to work in WB7 though - under "settings", I have the "Action to take when right clicking on a titlebar" set to "Rollup/Down Window". So far, this setting seems not to have any effect. Here's my data: Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 5.9 Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 6 WindowBlind

I hope this is the correct spot to pose this question. I have been attempting to run multiple instances of the same widget at the same time. Specifically, I am trying to run two instances of the Silica Picture Frame widget. Based on experience with other widget-type programs, I tried making a copy of the .exe file and renaming it, then launching the copy. However the copy does not launch. I have tried launching the second widget both by using the DesktopX "load Widget" comma

A long time ago, I was able to convert *.msstyles skins to *.wba format by loading the msstles skin into SkinStudio and saving it appropriately. Yesterday, for the first time in a long while, I wanted to do the same and it seemed that this is no longer possible. I am using SkinStudio Pro 6 Version 6.00.011. It appears that SS6 will only allow me to load wba files that are part of my machine's Windowblinds active library, or create a brand new wba file from scratch. There doe

Because of the launch of OD2008, I finally decided to download Impulse and give it a try, especially since IconPackager4 is available only there. On the Updates page, Impulse noted correctly that I had an older version of IP and informed me that the new IP was available. I clicked on update, and was promptly informed that "The registration you have entered is invalid. Please check your selected product, email address and and serial number and then try again." I haven't been able to do this, so I wanted to know - is it possible, when running two monitors off my system, to have a different wallpaper on each monitor? Right now I seem to be able to do one of two things: 1) "Extend the desktop" across both monitors, which lets me move programs from one screen to the other, but simply replicates the wallpaper on each screen or 2) "Stretch" the first monitor across both monitors, which takes the wallpaper and continues it from mo
