Dumb question (Newbie of course) - I have no trouble making a copy of my desktop, I could even put up a link if need be. But how do I make a post which shows the screenshot in the body of the message? Thanks
Well. I think I just learned more in this one thread about how to make SD Central a worthwhile program than I had in the previous two weeks of ownership. I guess this is one of the drawbacks to downloading software off the web - you don't get a nifty little book to browse through and pick up interesting (and useful) tricks of operation. Thanks to everybody.
Sir Bichur - Your comment made me go hunting and I think I have found part of what you were indicating - Under Tools->Settings in Stardock Central I found the Settings->General->Archiving section where I see the "Automatically archive application before updating" function - I assume you have this selected - However, I didn't see anything that seemed to be an "uninstall - install new" function- could you tell which one
SW Koasati - All my questions answered at once - fnatastic Thanks again
Actually the question arises because, at leat with WindowBlinds and all the various beta versions of WB5, I have had to uninstall/reinstall, shut down, reboot etc. ad infinitum every time an update came through. Some people have suggested that this is because it is a beta program. I am assuming that all those "b's" in IP 3.09b[b].002 indicate that this is also a beta program. Therefore, that it also will not work correctly by simply hitting
As I understand it the official release date of WB5 is next Tuesday. In the interiim, Stardock Central is asking me to upgrade from version 4.96[b].003 to version 4.99[rc].006 Is this the "official" version of WB5? If not, is there some reason I should bother with the hassle of uninstalling/reinstalling yet another interim beta version of WB5 only to have to uninstall/reinstall it when the final product comes out next week? <
I am currently working with version 3.00i[b].002 Stardock Central advises me that 3.09[b].002 is available as an upgrade. To accomplish this do I need to perform an add/remove uninstall /reinstall procedure of IconPackager in order to get the new version to work correctly, or will simply downloading and extracting the new file upgrade me correctly? Thanks in advance.
Lately, when I shut down my computer I get this error message for about 10 seconds: "WB3 To OBSkinConverter.exe - DLL INitialization failed" And then the computer beeps at me and shuts down. I'm assuming from the WB and "SkinConverter" that this has something to do with WindowBlinds - I am running WB 4.96[b].003 Any ideas?
As requested, here is a shot of the truncated menu. http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=11/31717484874.jpg&s=x2
No offense, but clearly there are problems. Looking at the message board above (Stardock Support) I see at least 6 posts asking about problems with WB5 and half of those relate directly to install/uninstall problems. Since the screen is showing 20 posts that means that 15% of the posters are having some trouble with install/uninstall. I may be mistaken, but any business that has a 15% difficulty/failure rate with a product might want to look
I have noticed that, in the Object Desktop download center in Stardock Central, I have a listing for both WB4 (beta) and WB5 (beta). At the moment they both say that I have WB 4.96[b].003 installed, but I think that this causes a lot of difficulty when trying to upgrade. With my most recent download of WB5, for quite a while my systray WB icon was saying that I had WB 4.5 installed. I had to go through several uninstalls, reboots, redownloads
In the basic WinXP right click desktop menu, the is an option called "Arrange Icons By" which I tend to click on fairly frequently - I would like to put this into my Stardock Right Click menu. Does anyone know how to do this? Also, is there a way to adjust the width of the menus? For some reason the "Taskbar" when added as a Popup menu truncates and the running programs show up as "Down..." or "Stard..." etc. I would like to expan
Now, you see, that is the kind of information you would think would be part of the basic package when you purchase the product. How many people go through the process thinking that, because the doownload center detects the previous programs and says that they are being "updated", that everything will work correctly? I assume that I now have to uninstall everything I just downloaded WB5 and so forth)and then reinstall it all over a
First off, thanks to everyone for their comments. I have to say I don't see myself as a hacker/programmer so I'm not certain that those functions would ever really be of interest to me, other than at the odd moment when curiosity got the better of me. On the other hand, I hadn't realized that I was going to be repurchasing all these various programs as time went by. So, as has been pointed out, it would seem that for t
I have been examining whether or not to upgrade to Object Desktop. I currently own and run Windowblinds, IconPackager, ObjectDock and DesktopX, and coordinate things as much as I can with ThemeManager, and mix them with Samurize and occaisionally Konfabulator. My question is this, what does OD offer that represents an improved desktop for me that I can not do right now? (Especially considering I spent a bunch of money on programs before rea
I have been trying to download a couple of WBA files from the WindowBlinds page. However, when I click on "download" I get redirected to the screenshot page and no file downloads. Is there a problem with the Wincustomize server? Or is it possible I have reached a limit on my downloads? If that were so, wouldn't the site tell me I have exceeded my limit?
Looking through the screenshot archives here I have seen dozens of screens using a WB called "XoddX" However it does not seem to be an avaialbale blind as it it does not come up when searched for. Has the blind been removed from the archives? Has the author been cast out into the darkness for some terible heresy? Or (more likely) do I simply not know where to look to find the blind in question? Thanks
My apologies to everyone out there. I stumbled across a solution today, and not surprisingly, it has nothing to do with OD+ per se. I discovered that you need to have "Keep Taskbar on top of other windows" selected under Taskbar Properties. Somewhere along the line I must have turned the function off. With this function restored all is well. Thanks for your comments.
To BlueDev: That is exactly what I am trying to do, but I can find no combination of settings that makes it happen. For me, the tabs always end up aligning to the top of the screen, not the edge of the taskbar, so that if I click on the taskbar, the dock disappears behind the taskbar. I wonder if this might be a consequence of using WindowBlinds? Is it possible that using a theme in WindowBlinds somehow eliminates the taskbar as an edge to alig
I guess I should refine the question a little, but based on the comments I'm going to assum ethis can't be done. What I would like to achieve is the tabbed dock resting just above the taskbar, and to have the tabbed dock minimize down to the tabs only when not in the process of selecting a program. That way, when at rest, you would see the taskbar with a series of tab names just above it. From the comments above, it sounds as if the only way t
Hi there - A question I am sure has been asked before but I don't recall seeing the answer. Is it possible to have a tabbed dock come to rest ON THE TOP EDGE of the tasbar? In other words to be able to see all of the open program icons in the taskbar without having the tabbed dock blocking them by resting in front of them, or having the taskbar blocking the tabbed dock? To phrase it another way, does the tabbed dock have to rest against the
