Roughly 1.1GB before compression, which helps some with the downloads. You can play the game with about 140MB of downloads, though it'll be lacking the movies, tutorials, and multimedia bits.

I single space after .'s when I write or edit. So if you find any doubles, someone edited them other than me. I did not do final manual edits though. As for the Vista bit... we'll get that fixed up when the OS ships...
The default folder is not set to My Documents (though the save games go there under My Games\GalCiv2). Per the above comments, Stardock Central has an option to prompt for the installation folder. If you've already installed it, you don't have to set the option and redownload. As the bits above say, use Regedit.exe and adjust the Path value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2 to point to the location you move to. If you're not comfortable with regedit, just
The pre-orders were processed sequentially in batches today. As of about 7pm EST, they should all be processed and you should have emails. If you do not, please visit stardock.com/support and enter your email address there, see if appears. Check that it was the email address you ordered under. And then email [email protected] so we can look into it. I know there were some failures for various reasons (invalid info, cc b
Please right-click the app in Stardock Central, select the Activate w/logging option, and email the .\sdcentral\activate.log file to [email protected] .
If I update the readme or alter the files and republish things (like the launcher for the pre-load), it updates the revision at the end so it knows to look for updates.
Your family can open the box and send you the serial once they've gotten it. You'll be able to download while you wait for the CDs, which can remain in mint condition in the box, as you'll have downloaded the game.
iirc, Paypal has to be processed immediately. Once we charge the pre-orders and make those available for pre-loading today, Paypal orders should be possible (today or tomorrow).
Create a shortcut with a w parameter after it to run in a window: galciv2.exe w
Robert, we need a bit more detail than that. Please email [email protected] the error log from .\sdcentral\installed\gc2.log. And the login.txt from the sdcentral directory. And any other comments you feel relevant.
The download for Stardock Central (linked above) has been refreshed with the build 117 that showed up earlier in the afternoon via auto-update. Fixes a Windows 2000 graphics glitch. I think things are settling down. If you are still experiencing issues tonight, please email [email protected] the log file in question from .\sdcentral\installed and your login.txt from the sdcentral directory. I will sort what I can if possible, or at least be more ready to figure them out tomorrow.
Please do not try and mix and match files from the beta and the pre-load. It's not a buffet. As Brad says, it's not clear what would happen. If you were to move your existing beta directory to a new location, you should be able to continue playing with it. While letting the pre-load content come down for a fresh install.
What build does your SDC report in Help / About? SDC automatically updates for any files that aren't locked (like new images), but if there are updates for the main binary, it'll need to update and restart itself.
As we prepare for the GalCiv2 release next week (and the preload of content this week), there is going to be a new Stardock Central 2.29 build published tonight. Initial application installs with it are more or less the same, though it has some new code to try and failover to other servers in case of errors. It's major new addition revolves around how it handles updates in the future, which should be a lot faster to determine which files need to update and to attempt to get them from
As the next step in the schedule of pain, I am going to be publishing the Stardock Central 2.29 build this evening. The initial installations with it are more or less the same, though it has some new code to try and failover to other servers in case of errors. It's major new addition revolves around how it handles updates in the future, which should be a lot faster to determine which files need to update and to attempt to get them from another server if it has problems with one.
Carlos, I've tried to delve deeper and presumably your order number ends on ...27. This is unusual in my experience in terms of being able to find that and not find the order under your account (though I had to dig a bit). I have added the appropriate registration record to your account and you should be sorted. We'll try and see why it didn't do this initially. My apologies. Should this still b
I've tested the server and things seem to be cool atm (8pm est sat). If you are still experiencing this problem, please email [email protected] and I can try kicking more things. Carlos, I don't see an order record for you under your email here. Bagles, change your password and lose that symbol you have at the start of it. If that works, please send [email protected] a note so I can have th

I'm not sure of the original derivation, but if you look at USENET from a decade+ back, you'll find reference to the Tir-An/ Tir-Quan Training (or something like that) for GalCiv on OS/2. I think it might have originally given you a ship bonus or a couple of advanced fighter ships. It's been awhile.
GC2 does a fixed payment, rather than having it be over X months.
There was a problem with the activation scripts for an hour or so on Monday, which was giving the above error message. That said, I'm not seeing the ODNT registration under your email address above, so that could be part of the problem. If you email [email protected] with the address you ordered under, I can reset the activation count if need be.
Database replication was being fussy. It should be sorting itself out now. If not, it will be tomorrow.
You can also have a friend with a credit card order it and have them email [email protected] from the email address they've ordered under and have it switched to another one. We also have PayPal as an option this time around.
FWIW, as you zoom out on the map and get a more strategic view, you'll not be able to see the engines running. Or if the ship is oriented other than your camera angle. Or if it's grouped as part of a fleet and you're panned back. etc.
We are running with a X2 3800+ internally and a Pentium D, and so far we've not seen the issues reported. For reference, what video card are you using as well?
