Mjanz2k, your problem appears to be distinct from the one jakanc and sltdg are reporting. In looking at your info above, your video drivers are more than 2 years old. Please update those and then try again. If it persists in lagging/looping on load, edit the prefs.ini in my documents\my games\galciv2 to disable the sound (change sfx=1 and music=1 to =0). Let's ignore the multimedia and take this in steps. Do what post #10 indicated and remove those directories. As well as gc2*.* in \program files\stardock\sdcentral\installed. Reboot. Everything all gone? It's like you've never had GalCiv2 (apart from having Stardock Central installed). Install only the base GalCiv2 0.81 build (not the multimedia). Let the install complete. Before you attempt to run the game, zip up \program files\stardock\sdcentral\installed\gc2.log

To reinforce Pat's quoted comments above, we consider popups or pop-under ads to be unacceptable. If something does show up, please take a screenshot, try to see what link/ad/server it came from (Properties on the webpage, hit Ctrl-N to bring it up as a new page so you can see the link if need be), and/or in this case, zip up the .html file and try to send it to us. I tried to reproduce this tonight logged off WC so I would get more ads, but no joy so far.

As someone at the office said when we came back "If it was on cable, I wouldn't watch it again." I'm on board with the first 25% or so of the movie being the best part. Why? Because we met the characters, learned a bit about what made them tick to get them to this point, and started building some tension for what we all knew was coming (generically, Skull Island and KING KONG). Were there humorous moments? Yes. Were there ironic moments? Cool throwbacks to the original film?

You have a clever boy. I would submit though, that in baseball, a strike is when the pitcher outperfoms the batter. The pitcher did everything right, he got a ball in the strike zone AND past the batter cleanly. There are various degrees of "striking" the ball that can result in different outcomes. And who am I to say that the "strike" call doesn't refer to the ball hitting the catcher's mitt? Kris (not a baseball fan)

I can try. It's a matter of perspective. As the pitcher or the bowler, throwing or bowling a "strike" is a good thing because it helps advance your position in the game (further followup usually being necessary). If you change your perspective to be the batter, then... not so much. And to the perspective of the pins? An exercise for the reader.

Email [email protected] the .\program files\sdcentral\login.txt and I'll take a look over the weekend. Check you've not got a firewall/proxy/ad-blocker/something filtering out traffic and preventing sdcentral.exe from connecting to the net.
