And to clarify yet again, WindowBlinds 4.x orders placed on or after September 1st, 2005 should already have been upgraded to have a WB 5.x product record on their accounts. And gotten an email to that effect. Object Desktop customers with current subscriptions were already covered. If you do think you should have had a free upgrade (rather than the $14.95 upgrade which would apply if you bought WB in August 2005 or May 2004) and haven't gotten the info yet, please drop [email protected]

Ah, my bad Autumnmist about your earlier post. I was able to find the web folks tonight and they logged on from home and I think have smacked that back into gear. Though my understanding was it was something new from the last day or two, rather than going back further, that was the problem. We'll see.

There are several skins that have been updated and fully (or close to it) support WB5. We're trying to have chickens and eggs here together, with more eggs to come. And to be blunt, what's "basic" about something like Aura?

sales is gone until Monday, but I'll be around over the weekend. Autumnist, your Object Desktop subscription is current, so you should be able to install through Stardock Central. You'll not be getting an email with a standalone WB 5.x link. kendown, might you have ordered under a different email address? Or have the receipt that you can forward to [email protected] ? I see your older ODNT records, but not a WB 4.x order in October.

It is immensely frustrating to me that after the man hours that have gone into making WindowBlinds 5 available, that it's not instantly available to everyone possible (specifically, people who are getting a _FREE_ update to 5.x) is causing all these posts. The builds were released in a staggered order based on how they finished getting packaged and tested. Which actually meant the shareware version for people who hadn't paid a cent was available first if you knew where to look. Then ODNT

Chris (The Figurehead), please zip the sig.bin and the sig.bin.log file and email them to [email protected] so I can see what was awry there. Remove them and right-click on the WindowBlinds 5 component in Stardock Central and select the "Activate w/logging" option. That should fix you up, as your account looks right here. If not, find the activate.log in the SDCentral dir and please send that to me as well.

Denon36, we're doing a major product release with thousands of users to be contacted and a raft of different builds and updates to be made available. In retrospect, perhaps we should have added the product registrations yesterday for the build, but we didn't. I have personally gone into your account record and added a WB5 registration for so you don't have to wait on the email. Visit the page at stardock.com/support and enter your email address to be sent the download link.

For everyone who purchased WB 4.x after September 1st, emails are now going out with information on your free upgrades. There are a lot of emails to go out, it's going to take a few hours for them all to be sent. The email has a download link and serial number for activation. Or, once you've gotten the email, it means your account record is updated and you can use Stardock Central to install or resend the info via the form at stardock.com/support.

Updates via Stardock Central are slower than we would like, as we're still sorting out download threads fighting over who gets to sit in the front seat. There will be a WindowFX beta supporting WB5 before Christmas. There are some minor tweaks to things over the last RC build to make sure all the builds were in sync, but it's very similar to the 4.99a RC.

It's available now for Object Desktop subscribers. You'll probably need to uncheck the "show pre-release versions" option in Stardock Central if you've been using the beta. It should update cleanly from the betas, but if in doubt, uninstall, REBOOT, and only then reinstall. The 5.0 release needs a reboot to start skinning after the initial install. That's something we'll tweak in a future build, but it needed more testing and didn't make the cut. Some painting issue tur

If you start running into activation thresholds from having lots of betas in the past, please email [email protected] and I'll try and reset things tonight as they come in. WB4 customers since Sept 1 who are entitled to WB5 will not have access until sometime Tuesday the 29th (EST time). Same with being able to upgrade to WB5 from WB4 or download the shareware version.

Phoon, pardon my french, but if you are formatting and reinstalling your OS and apps from scratch frequently, you need to catch up with the times. Buy a copy of Acronis TrueImage or Symantec Ghost or a similar solution if you absolutely _must_ have a "fresh" install on a frequent basis. Or if not one of the imaging solutions above, most any modern backup program that'll backup and restore the OS, which will enable any of the activation-enabled apps from Stardock to continue to work.<

It's rather frustrating that one can have pre-ordered months in advance, yet it's the people standing in line at Target who are going to be able to get one. I asked about allocation at my local EB Games last week. They expected to have 18 of the premium systems today, whilst I was #30 on the pre-orders. At least they called yesterday to further dash my hopes a day in advance.

Q would transform the turtle into a Chicken. The Organians would encourage the turtle to really really consider whether it should cross the road in the first place. The Cylons would have said the turtle was a sign for Baltar, followed by a hot "on the road" scene between Six, Boomer, and Starbuck. The Shrike would have transported the turtle forward in time to live a full life, and then brought it back to cross the road and become roadkill that would really mak

Night Train, please install and run SmartException from http://storage.stardock.com/files/smartexception.exe . We've not been able to get it to crash here launching the Word portion. If you get \program files\stardock\smartexception\*.cra and *.dmp files created, please send those to [email protected] .

We worked over the weekend and today with some customers to try and track down the oddball "could not write activation signature" issues that some people have reported. There should be a refreshed build tomorrow that tweaks those. Davebo, I've reset your account record. The Nov 11th builds are "current"/beta3. At least one more update liable to come out in the next day or two to resolve the above, add some new skinning features, and knock some other reported issues off the l

Corky, 66.102.77.147 is _not_ one of Stardock's servers. If it's connected to your machine on port 80, that suggests you have something running at that address. Usually a webserver.
