I can help you only a bit before more apropriate persons will come (Frogboy anywhere? ;) ), however, from my observations: 1/ Yes, AI can take different approaches - few times I was involved in influence battle with another race (actually, I have even lost it few times). Research victory - I dunno, I tend to destabilize them or wage war on them if their research get too high - but logically AI should be able to get it ;) 2/ I think they are able to switch pursued strategy, however, it i
Stumbled upon info about Galciv OS/2 when searching for some info on old TBS games ca. year ago.
Having not played Moo3, I cannot be exact in comparision, but the game is fun to play for sure, and the AI is reasonable good (I usually win at Smart setting in Beta - second highest, but Gamma is said to be tougher ;) ). It allows you to micromanage planets if you tend to, or have it done automatically through pre-defined queues (which, I believe, is commonly used option :), there is no ship design (which is good, as the ship design made moo1 and 2 too easy ...). From my point of view, the
I am not ranking exactly, but my TOP10 would be something like: Colonization Civ II Moo I Imperium (Electronic Arts) - way ahead of its time :) Anacreon: Reconstruction Steel panthers Imperialism Capitalsim Transport Tycoon And, maybe Gal Civ - time will tell ;)
There is one thing, that really insulted me on Moo forum and made me decide not to buy Moo 3 at all (you know, I live in eastern Europe and I cannot afford to pay 60 bucks for game as long as I am not pretty sure it will be a good game :) Most of the yea-sayers keep telling nay-sayers that "They do not understand the WHOLE NEW concept of Macro scale 4X game - that emparor does not control every bit of empire". If you will understand, you will like the game. No matter what, this
Regarding the marketing and positioning of the game - try to read Brad's articles on Avault, they are great and explain much regarding computer games industry.
They even accept cash, if you live too far away from US, like me :)
Thanks a lot, sorry to bother you when there is so much to do ;)
Hello, there was very interesting article from Frogboy regarding costs of running www page (Something like "So you want to run www page" :). I wanted to show the article to my friend, but I could not find him. Someone knows wehere it is? thanks,
No, I cannot even get to starting menu... It simply does not start... Hm, I have 64k fix line... So, I will wipe out all and start from beginning... Owww...
Hi, I have downloaded the latest gamma from Drengin. I have problem with starting a game. I do not know if there is some corrupted file from download or what. Is there any other way than download whole stuff again? Thanks,
Just won cultural on Gigantic, and I have to praise Stardock people... so, here it goes - "Praise" And now, few suggestions ;) : 1/ Ship management gets very tedious in later phases on game. I would be glad if there would be some more automatization possible... Or maybe there is, but I cannot use it. I mean such an option as: - direct Constructor to starbase/resource selected from list, not on map - auto construct - constructor will head towards nearest not-fully upgraded b
I have just upgraded to Beta 4, but I cannot run the game - it always result in Unhandled exception... I decided to go for full reinstall (over 250MB, did you know?), anyway, I thought you would be interested...
I have just rewritten .exe, and did not help. I will try complete yesterday after I return from country (26th.)
I have downloaded this update before reporting this problem. Sorry for bad news :( However, I have not tried complete reinstall, so I will check.
I have downloaded the new .exe, however, it did not help. The game crashes to desktop during turn processing, and consistently (I can send a saved game which crashes on turn processing). Every game I play happens to got into such state, in approx. 100th turn. Regretfully, playing Galciv is over for me (:( I am Win2k, so at least debug.err, maybe it can help you ? Debug Message: Brad's bug: Need to tighten up the typical colony code. Debug Message: Brad's bug: Need to tig
Try to imagin how awfully it looks if you get into thousands ;) That math problem is getting even worse with higher numbers, generally I do 6 turns in one for the finishing techs ;)
I generated over 2500 trade income, and I was running on zero taxes, and 100 pct. spending, throwing hell cash into espionage and destabilisation. I would say trade is a bit imbalanced in the moment... BTW, it is not related to this thread, but too lazy to start new... If there are more starbases into sector, their effects (like phase factories) are cumulative? If so, I am not sure of it is good...
I have saved game, which crashes to desktop upon new turn processing; crash seems to be related with planet finishing common social project (habitat, I think). I have no working SE, so if someone is interested in this save, I can send it. BTW, dont laugh, I KNOW I am loosing that game ;)
But the info is there, just where the senate information is... ? There is "Next election in XXX months".
I made this report in Beta 2, it gets better, but not good enough. I concentrate on economics and development, and I am able to have planet with, lets say, Military and Social production ca 300, and research ca 1500. The graphics representation is ugly, going through planet image and so on. I would suggest special char for hundreds, not only tens.
BTW, it is NOT connected to dread lords, I have not had them in that game. Secondly, it happens quite often for me in that particular game (lets say, each 10 - 20 turns), but in random pattern.
So, we agreed on thge bug, and now its Stardocks turn ;)
I encountered similar error, and I HAD NEXT button instead of DONE. Escape works miracles in this situation, at least for me...
