I say all this, but I'm fairly certain the real reason behind all this ridiculous opposition to Strat Zoom is that the game simply cannot handle that many units on screen at one time. I've borked the zoom to max before on accident and nearly crashed my game at around 2-3k units.
I only have issues when I get to 13-15k. The game slows down significantly no matter what is being rendered on screen (more testin

The devs could speed up the creep spawn time to make it riskier for multi node engineer expansion as has been suggested in the other thread , but that would make it a lot harder for "new people".

I have had some issues with path-finding particularly on custom made maps with multiple mountain ranges. On Seton, if I start in the top right and build a factory and set the way point to the bottom right, I often find that the units move straight into the mountain range below the starting location and get trapped. This is a minor inconvenience.

I often find it too difficult to choose which faction I want to play as, and would like to have the option to take this decision out of my hands. Can we please have a "Random" faction option?
Decisions and timing at the start of the game are not as absolute as you are making out. If you get the start "wrong"/"right" it does not lead to a guaranteed loss/win.
Ranked matches have terrain exposed. Unranked (custom) MP games can be set to whatever you want. The majority of custom games that I have played in MP have been exposed. I prefer to have the map hidden, which adds to the surprise when your scouts meet in the
Yes and no. You can edit the file, which will make changes to the AI level of cheating and the behaviour. However, many of the actions of the AI scripting is heavily dependent on requisites mainly metal and radioactive resources. From my qualitative experimentation, I have found that many of the behaviours that are observed from the Insane AI are only observed due to its cheating allowing these requisites to be met before I have overrun the AI. I have observed seve
I just think you should put 4 metal extractors around each base regardless of the map then you will have the resources to continue to build.
Maps should be different. If every map was the same, then it would get very repetitive and boring. Adapting to the available resources is half of the fun.
There are many different ways to start the game, you can focus too heavily on economy or production. I prefer to remain balanced and not over reach.
All of the game files are readable plain-text. You can read the AI settings including their resource multipliers in the "Ashes of the Singularity\Assets\GameCore\DefaultPlayerAI.xml" file. Challenging AI has increased metal, radioactive and logistics multipliers.
It gives a good boost to economy, however I note the serious lack of a factory (under the pause menu perhaps?). In single player you can use the time adjust feature (-/+ keys next to backspace) to slow and pause the game for less hindered screenshots. This leaves you open to an early attack if your opponent realises what you have sacrificed to achieve your early expansion. Ranked matches by default have fog disabled allowing you to see how many nodes have been captured. <

For approximately the same metal cost, 4 packs of brutes would win against a Mauler and half would survive.

Is plays.tv compatible with dx12? Does it record if you run AotS from steam in dx11?
Crash logs are automatically generated and sent in.
The Tutorial looks good, I would imagine pretty helpful to new folks. I prefer the new Turinium UI. The control group change was a good one. There is no spectate option yet. I have been wanting this functionality so I can test tweaks to the AI behaviour.
Just run from steam. When I run the dx12 executable in the steamapps folder I get two instances of AotS running, one dx11, one dx12. The dx12 version fails to connect to steam and thus multiplayer does not work.
The game can still be unstable with 6 players. Putting more in the mix will make things worse. We all want larger maps, but they shouldn't be rushed if the experience is not going to be very good.
