im pretty sure that if you just set the ai to the lowest levels then you could do all that you described, stardock wants to make a smart ai for the experts and replayablility but it dosnt want to make it near impossible to beat ig you jsut set it to the lowest it will probably be very easy for anyone to beat

lol the dregarian daughter would probably decide that your skin looked too good to let you leave alive... plus if they do do a Galactic Pirates hopefully theyll do it so that its just not sid meyers pirates in space, but as of right now im really looking forward to society and playing GalCiv2:D

Looking over the list of features this game has thanks to not working on a MP side, I'm not only glad it doesn't have MP, but there are a laundry list of games I wish NEVER had it. well said very very very well said

shouldnt be too bummed bout no tactical combat since every strategy game that does it has horrible tactical ai also the strabases do have weapons ugrades that allows them to defend themselves if attacked plus like darth kryo said all u ned to do is put ships in orbit that have nothing but wepons and defense and there is your static defense

im trying to tell my friend to get this game but he is still hooked on civ 4 (which i dont blame him, its a fun game) and dosnt want to get another game while hes hooked on this one but by the time he buys this game its going to be way past due to get the bonus pack y wont he just buy it and then install it after he gets done with civ 4 and has his social life in order enough so that it can stand another while of him being absent

dunno have to be some sort of system to prevent it from becoming an uber planet that and like you said if the planets are being randomly distributed then you might not even c it or it may be owned by another player or u might not even recognize it when you c it so i think that the devs should leave it to the modders to come up with this and let the devs work at something else like more ship components and stronger AI

sweet cant wait another game that i can preorder months in advance do a sweet beta report bugs to developers that i think actually deserve my help that is of course assuming there is going to be an open beta (has fingers crossed) but i think that gal civ twos going to be keeping occupied for a long time before i get into society

i have the same strategy as you though as soon as i get ahead in weapons defense hulls and miniturization i build an unstoppable megafleet and declare war on everyone and everything and usually win (couple times i had minor miscalculations)

i jsut cant wait for January 1rst when gamespot votes this game as the pc and possibly game of the year though i must admit spore will probably give it a huge run for its money but thats the only game that i c coming close to beating this game this game is just going to be so much fun

i own tons of games and id say that 80-90% are TBS or RTS yeah im a really big fan of these types of games (and if you can figure out i like the civilization series alot) but i think that i might ahve to change my name to galciv2fanatic when this game comes out cause if its as good as the gamma testers are saying it is itll be better than anything i have feb21 is way too far off but at least i can download it before the cd

id say go for the campaing, usually in games the beginning missions of the campaign serve as the tutorial or are easy enough to just pick up as you go however i dont know how the campaign in GalCiv2 is structured since i only have access to the beta

yeah just like in civ 4 this game has it where you expand too early itll end up doing more good than harm. thats why you need to set up a strong economy and reasearch techs to improve your economy and the production outputs of your colonies before you can really get into the expansion race

all i can say is sweet really feb 20 cant come soon enough and then after that i have to wait till march 20 for oblivion and after that i have to wait till late summer or early fall for spore well at least i have civ 4 to keep me occupied while i wait for these games to come out and i can always go back to beta 5 though it pales in comparison to what im seeing here
