It does exist. I'm actually a 1.x registered user, so it comes in my serial updates (people love to take my address and use it in the serial mailer for some reason). I understood it, but then I hang out in #stardock IRC. It's things like being there to comment on skins, talk about skinning in general as well as ask a series of questions - it's easier to have a dialogue in chat than it is on the boards, because it's more instant.

It's a good thing, overall. I'm sure of it. The best prior example of this situation I can think of is books. It used to be that each book had to be painstakingly drawn with meticulous detail by monks. 98, even SE, is screwed up enough that even with the most stable drivers in the world things are going to crash. Litestep is totally different and does different things. I can't really comment on it's stability as I haven't significantly used it.

SkinBench does need a bit of work, as indicated in it's version number. And some of the tests are blatently incorrect. Part of this is due to me doing timing incorrectly, which will be fixed. I have had a few bugs reported which I unfortunately can't reproduce. Yes, the edit sizing thing is strange, and no, I have no idea why it happens. I tried adding menu stuff a while back but wasn't able to get them to open etc under program control (if anyone knows how to do this, I'd be glad to hear). I ag

As DavidK says, you need to change the WB skin. Open the Sage UIS file up in SkinStudio and go to the XP Desktop/Taskbar/Clock section (or add it if not present). You then need to set it to use one of the defined fonts, or to make a new font setting and use that (WB uses font sections to set fonts - if you say "for this, use font 4" it looks for the settings in a [font4] section).

It cuts some of my files to *half* their size as GIF's. Most of the world still uses a 56k to access the net, and the faster a site loads the better. I don't need the advanced features - I just want better compression, which it does very well.

I'd say PNG is ready for the big-time. I use it on my site as a replacement for GIF. Windows 98 can view PNG's in IE 4 out of the box, so really there's no real reason to avoid it, and it could mean the difference between a user staying at your site or leaving.
