If it's my computer, I want to be able to tell it what to do, not the other way around. One reason I don't like Apple is because they essentially tell you what software you can use on their hardware, and what hardware their software will work on. I think some people need to be put back into reality. This is just a skinning site. Your life doesn't depend on it, and if it is down for a couple days is there really a big loss? A week after things are back to normal, we'll forget it happened and enjoy the benefits, rather than dwell on a few lost hours of downtime. This particularly won't go as smoothly when the parent company is understaffed, and the subsidiary is underfunded.

I'm just wondering why GalCiv is taking priority over WinCustomize. When WinCustomize doesn't load and comes up with an error, the GalCiv website still opens. Did they put the GalCiv site to have priority over WC on the server?

As far as I know, laptops and notebooks are two names for the same thing. Just make sure you have the correct number of pins and other specs. I think 184 is most common for laptops. That's kind of funny. There are differences, like in the capital 'S,' but they are pretty close. It's not uncommon for someone to take an existing font and tweak it a little though and slap a new name on it. I read about this on Wikipedia a few days ago. Linotype (a type foundry) apparantly is protesting Segoe even being used in Vista. Wonder what will happen.

From my understanding of this, it looks like a Windows problem, not a Windowblinds problem. One of the big improvements in Vista is how it doesn't have to redraw when you move a window, since it creates a 3d environment. And not every piece of software is going to be perfect. Until I have a problem with Windows, I have no desire to switch. Believe it or not, I haven't had a BSOD since I had Win95. No crashes or major freezes. Sometimes a program stop responding, but I've had that happen on OSX too. I think it's just what computers do. The major problem I would have with Linux or even OSX is the limited number of programs available.

Isn't this the same situation with XP? In fact, when XP came out it was probably worse. Many people were still using Windows 95, 98, ME and 2000. I don't think too many people are using 95 or 98 anymore, and people using ME probably aren't the most computer literate ones out there, or they wouldn't have ME on their computers at all. So assuming there are no problems with Vista, it should be pretty easy for most people to upgrade.

Tray Icons are annoying. in Personal Computing WinCustomize Forums

I have a good amount of icons in the tray icon area. Next to the clock. You know what I mean. I don't need to see all of them, so most of them are set to 'Hide always.' Usually they obey, but there are a few icons that change settings themselves. Norton, WindowBlinds, and network icons (Local Area Connection or Wireless Connections) are the main culprits.
