One more :-) its a little one...when it tells you something is x% complete its says x%% (you get two percent signs) Cheers, Dominic

Hello, Why aren't Starbases tradable items? In the game I'm playing they have a very high economic value as the cost of building a starbase increases with each one you build. My next starbase is 6000 credits. I wanted to give a race a chance at peace...if only they would give me their starbase, convieniently located on a resource :-), however the starbases were not listed as a tradable item. Thanks, Dominic
Hi, The Paladin ship is never completed. When selecting in the build options there is no picture displayed. After the count reaches 'Next Month' the next turn it still says 'Next Month' Cheers, Dominic
I finished a couple of games and posted scores but my latest game, gigantic map, finished with cultural conquest, it didn't give me the option to upload. Guess its totally lost now.
Cari, WinXP64 places all 32bit apps in c:\program files (x86) There is no choice in the matter. c:\program files\ is reserved for 64bit apps only. 1.13 Appears to work just fine loading and saving games 1.49[b].010 Will supposedly save games, I get the ~4Mb files in the Savegame directory. When I try and load a game however, the progress bar climbs to 100% and then i'm back at the desktop. I tried using WinXP32 and it also exited to desktop with the
It works very well on most stuff. Railroad tycoon 3 works a charm as does Railroad Pioneer Demo. As the games are all 32bit there isn't too much difference right now. Now if they were recompiled for 64bit I'm sure you would see a major difference.
I hope it saving games works correctly on WinXP64 (AMD64) currently in Beta. I'm unable to load saved games on this OS. The game exits to the desktop. I tried copying a saved game across to WinXP32 and it did the same thing. I also seem to have a bunch of missing graphics, scout and avatar I know don't show up at all. Cheers, Dominic
The crew worked around the clock, dampening the engines thereby reducing their signature to special radar. Any rattle was located with sound sensitive equipment and fixed. No room was left untouched including the Captains quarters and the galley. As the galley used all metal equipment, the cooks did their part by preparing meals for a week that could be kept until needed so that they didn’t have to use the metal cooking utensils while navigating the asteroids. The soles of the shoes belong
Lionheart strode on to the bridge, squaring his shoulders and making himself as tall and commanding as he could. He started issuing orders in the Captain's name getting the ship ready for immediate departure. If he was going to make earth in three weeks he was going to have to use every trick in the book and then some. He called the chief engineer and demanded immediate propulsion. "The best I can give you is one engine of the four. We shut everything else down." replied the Chief. "W
The first few years aboard the Starship Cargo Charger turned Lionheart from a young boy of 14 into a young man with an intimate knowledge of the workings of a cargo class starship. Although he started as a lowly cabin boy, fetching the Captain his chiba and meals, polishing shoes and pressing uniforms he had unfettered access to the whole ship. He continued to think of his Lady Sarah. How could he forget her, his one true love? It never crossed his mind that she might be the first of many. He t
“Come on honey, we’re running late. You know I have to inspect the ship before we leave port tonight.” Said a tall rugged man. He was dressed in a Captains uniform belonging to the Terran Merchant Space Fleet or TMSF for short. He wasn’t tall and when it came down to it he tended to crack and on occasions fall apart when things went very wrong for him. He had reached his position more by luck than skill and a powerful father in the upper ranks of the TMSF. Despite his obvious flaws, he was a k
As the starship left the atmosphere of Mars, the old man looked back at the planet. The memories came flooding back as they always did when he left Mars. He was abruptly distracted from his thoughts by two young children who came bounding over shouting for him to tell them a story. He turned his head away from the porthole. He straightened his tall frame and squared his broad shoulders. A sense of well being could be read in his emerald green eyes as they searched out the playful children. There
I put this together a while ago well at least 2000/2001. It is tied to GalCiv through the other Stardock published product Stellar Frontier in a loose manner of sorts. I've not read the original GalCiv story from cover to cover so there are no doubt points that do not corrolate to the Avatar Frogboy original. (Sorry!) I'll post the first small section here and if folks are remotely interested in the rest I'll publish additional sections and see how we go. The usual disclaimer g
I think a simple limit to the number of starbases each player owns in a sector would be sufficient. i.e. one maybe two starbases per player in a sector.
HI, It seems as though the metaverse isn't updating. I finished a nice game, my hardest one yet, and was prompted to update the metaverse but there is no update to my record :-( I think there needs to be an additional screen that reports status of the upload, 'success', 'failed try again?' and 'would you like to save for upload later' for those who are offline sort of thing. Cheers, Dominic
Hi, This is twice I've seen this now. Due to other commitments it tends to take me several days on occasion to complete a game. During this time I usually don't close GalCiv. I just minimize it, while I do something else or I lock the computer while I work on another one. When I then win the game, I'm not shown the submit to metaverse screen. It seems as though something times out in the background during all this. The two games I have posted, I had exited the game just before the winni
What's up with the download speed via Stardock Central. I have a cable modem and yet the most i get is a 28k download speed...if i'm lucky. Trying to download anything whether its galciv 1.01 or Corporate Machine 1.2 takes forever. DGM was much better than this at downloads. Thanks, Dominic ~SDC~
Its pretty nasty when you lose over 6000 in revenue thats for sure.
I have so much control over the galaxy that I don't need to use them but I have one anyways. I just want it to wait until I do need it without constantly being the focus of attention in the next available ship cycle. Cheers, Dominic
I believe so yes
it's on its way. Cheers, Dominic
I saved the game after the restart and hit turn...bingo it crashed again. One turn and 15mins later... The last thing I saw on the screen was a pirate ship moving towards a fleet of constuctors. no battle scene though. it was still several spaces away. Debug Message: Displaying News Event. Debug Message: Preparing to save game. Debug Message: Deleting previous save game. Debug Message: Unable to find file Data\SaveGames\sdfsfgsfgsfgsfg\. Debug Message: Unable to fin
On restarting the game, the crown planet converted during the next turn okay. Why does it take so long to load a new game when it takes seconds to save? By long I mean 15mins with no activity on the screen..
It's sure painful. Thankfully you can ride it out even if it does wipe out 50% of tax revenues.
i don't recall any windows. I was just guessing that maybe the home planet is converting before the rest of the planets. In the current game, the Torians are cornered in the bottom left three squares. The planets in the very corner are not showing the skull and crossbones but the planets in the other two are. The home planet is in one of the others. I was just guessing that the 'home planet' going first causes the problem. I seemed to think that the crown indicates the home pla
