the whole point of posting this was so the AI and error coding could be improved not to cheat. There should be some form of checking to make sure that someone didn't download a file from the library and fail to apply it correctly, i.e. only copy one file to the correct directory not two. This could derail the AI, unintentionally. The AI should also realize that hey my ship isn't being built should i pick something else. I don't condone cheating and don't encourage it. The whole
Right but by all accounts if I come up with a ship that does not exist, no picture, then I can basically prevent the AI from moving forward. One part of the program knows the ship exists but because it can't display it, it is never created and the AI isn't intelligent enough to pick another ship. I found once the battleaxes were built it would move to other ships provided it had the technology to do so of course but it really really wanted the battleaxes first.
Hello, I've noticed that the auto-pilot takes anything but a straight line to the destination. I've seen this multiple times now with different ships. It usually happens with Diagonal routes. Instead of taking PageUp it takes Home (equivalent key presses) then goes Up once before the ship goes PageUp twice, thereby loosing you two moves and coming up short of the destination. Really annoying if your dependant on a ship being in a certain place at a certain time :-( Che
I've just done a deinstall and a reinstall and I still only have the AddTradeRoute01.UPISSUE file in the UP_Issue folder. Perhaps the download needs to be refreshed...
All I have in the UP_Issues folder is the tradeRoute01. I don't have anything else.
It seems pretty simple to win...if you don't have the Battle Axe ship files which are a separate install from the Library. Not sure why Battle Axe isn't included in the main download when the AI is clearly intent on using it. Unfortunately without the files, neither the AI or you can actually build a Battle Axe. This prevents the AI from building any military vessels once the supply of colony ships is no longer required. No military vessels no opposition. You just walk in and take
After each meeting of the UP there is a massive drop in the levels on the Influence chart, why is that? Just because the meeting is over shouldn't mean you immediately lose your influence....should it? Given that you don't gain influence immediately after taking over a number of planets and taking control of several squares but gain it gradually shouldn't the lose of influence be gradual as well?
Hi, Some little items I found: 1) When you hover over the Manufacturing button on the main screen you see M anufacturing Rather than Manufacturing in one line 2) In the Speak too screen, if you click on the fist to see the current war status the text has two 'are's, 'Who they are are at war with' 3) The influence graph does not recover correctly after a saved game is restored. It starts from zero and shows no history so you get a massive
the one huge factor about Auto-pilot is that it moves AFTER your turn is over. If you move a ship to its limits during a turn, you have moved for that turn. Even if you put the ship into Auto-Pilot you won't get any more movement points until the end of the next turn. i.e. hit turn twice, once to end the current turn (after all you've used your movement points) and then once to end the next turn which allows the auto-pilot to run. Its pretty annoying sometimes I have to say. Perhaps the
The level of democracy of your race should also feature in your influence level if it doesn't today. i.e. a dictatorship should have less influence over neighboring systems than a full blow Democracy which allows freedom of choice. BTW the level of democracy should also feature in the morale figures for the planets. The more freedom the happier they should be.
I certainly like the idea of 7. Boost nearby planets habitability factor. Also how about a casino upgrade or Recreation park to boost morale over the poor citizens living on the planet surface below?
I've also noticed it takes a very very long time for a ship to repair once damaged even if you have the basic, advanced and interstellar damage control research items
Races only appear once you have seen one of their ships with one of your ships in the same sector for a turn. You have to basically fly past each other for a turn. At least thats the way I see it. Hence they can wonder through you planetary system without even saying Hi if you don't have a ship in the system or orbiting a planet. I guess the planetary antennas just can't pick up the cries of war until it is too late.
they may have gone too far with that if each point is only 10%. That doesn't give you much of any advantage in anything if all you can do is increase movement by .2 each turn coz I imagine that you don't get an extra move every 5 turns you just lose the .2 every turn. Having ships move at decent speeds across the galaxy was the whole point of the movement bonus I thought. Gaining .2 isn't really worth it.
It might help the developers find the problem if you include the last few lines from the debug.err file located in the Program files\drengin.net\galciv directory. This gives them an idea as to what galciv was doing just before it crashed. Cheers
Either of these would work for me. I was thinking primarily through the Speak too, perhaps even Speak to Both parties and request they make peace. Having the UP do it would be nice but if one party, even you has 50.1% your resolution will always pass. While thats not necessarily a bad thing you could force everyone to never declare war on you thereby I guess forcing the downfall of the UP if everyone but you is forced to leave the UP. Isolation in reverse. Can you still communi
BTW the same discrepancy is there if you look at others in the list, like the metaverse leader shows over 6mil on the metaverse but 21 mil when you click on his name. Is the metaverse just your highest score ever in a single game vs the score reported by clicking on name the total of all scores ever submitted?
I just noticed that if you look at the Metaverse rankings, I show up as 7th with a score of 700k+ but if you click on my name it says 7th with a score of over 1 million. In fact the score reported against my name looks pretty close to the score I recorded when Galciv crashed to desktop while submitting my best score todate yet the Metaverse still has the previous score. Whats up with that? Cheers, Dominic
Hello, As a trading nation, excerting a large degree of power over the United Planets, well 53% at least, I would like the option to force by two best trading partners to lay aside their weapons. Unfortunately the options in the Diplomacy screen only allow you to request a faction declare war against another not Peace. Wouldn't it be neat if you could bring the parties to the table and say strike a deal already? Cheers, Dominic
Why is Beyond Human one of the winning Research criteria when the information on the screen says that the Final Frontier can be researched after Beyond Human?
I still don't get the way the economic screen works. If you receive 100 in taxes and your government spending rate is 70%, there should be 70 assigned to expenditure and 30 in savings. If you change the expenditure rate to 72%, 72 and 28, yet that just isn't the case. Also the statistics on economic information don't add up between the two screens, Economic shows one set of information and the Stats page shows yet another set which bears no relation to the Economic page. <b
I think these are already known but: 1) Ships on Autopilot don't move every turn like they should 2) Some ships will not move by selecting them and clicking on the map. You have to move them manually. It hits different ships each turn. 3) The game crashes much more frequently than the smaller maps, exits to desktop 4) I finally gave up and made everyone an ally, scored over 1,100,000 and the game crashed while trying to submit. This isn't the first time I've seen it do this
to maintain morale on a planet that kicking people off it. I've built Ent.Net., Multimedia Ctr, VR, Galactic VR and Harmony Generator and yet the only way to keep folks happy appears to be kicking people off the planet by the transport load. With no where to send them when you aren't at war what do you do with them? Mass Genocide? Thats not something you are supposed to be doing in this day and age. I find it hard to believe the United Planets would let you get away with it either. THe excuse of
For me it just went on and on. the cash would drop to -800 or so and then climb back to -120 or -332 and drop again. It just went on and on. I finally ended the game with an alliance win.
