I finished a second game last night, did an alliance win with all but one of the 'partners' left. I wasn't even prompted to submit the score to the metaverse. Particularly annoying since it had earlier in the day successfully submitted my #8 scoring win.
When a freighter can't create a trade route with a planet I would like to know how much that trade route would generate so I can compare to exist routes to make sure I'm getting the most credits. Thanks
the destabalized partner was killed off. I killed them off after just setting the destabilize one year only. too expensive. Spending was pretty much evenly divided between the three Military/Social/Research yet nothing appeared on the economics screen. I also had killed a number of trade routes to make room for more profitable routes. While I didn't have routes at the time the partner died with them its more than likely they had routes with me. We were also running the
I was happily playing away when I realised I was in the red. No money, yet the government economic screen showed turn after turn that I was making 400-1100 profit each time. Now that isn't right. I finally figured out that the economic panel had removed all expenditure for Social and research. The interesting thing was moving the tax rate or the government expenditure slider didn't do anything but increase my revenue. The only thing I tried which was probably bad, before this w
Yea I've also had the turn button disappear. I could be wrong but it seems to happen when you have AI ships facing a player ship. i.e. the AI ship wants to go in a particular direction but you have a ship sitting there. The AI gets stuck or something and doesn't navigate around you. Could be wrong but it seems like thats when it happens to me. (Could be a hundred other things going on elsewhere in the Large universe but on little bit of screen I'm looking at thats the position.)
its an interesting poll thats for sure. It may be a little too early for it though. I worry there may not be enough to do against the computer on easy yet I wouldn't call it a dud.
you build a Transport ship, load it with colonists and attack the planet
Hi, Seems like the Metaverse is broken. I realize you said only basic scoring would be in the beta but it worked prior to the Beta. I've registered and submitted twice but to no avail. Nothing appears on the Metaverse... Cheers,
I thought I had seen this before in the Alpha but couldn't be sure, now I am. Techs disappear from the list of available techs to research when you haven't actually researched them. If you save the game, exit and load saved game, the techs are back again. Just happened with Cloaking. Dreadnaught Technologies was the first in the available list yet I hadn't researched Cloaking. No matter how many times I clicked the up button nothing happened. Saving, exit, reload and voila ther
This is interesting: I've got to the point where I can research Advanced Trade (+1 Trade Route). Every turn i get the message that I have successfully researched Advanced Trade, yet the turn before I had 12 mths to go and now after the announcement I have 13 mths. Next turn same thing, successfully researched Adv Trade, 14 mths to go.... It seems to be counting up rather than down. Cheers
Hi, I've been hit by the turn button disappearing trick again. I finally found two work arounds. 1) Save the game, quit, restart and restore last game or 2) Move ALL your ships until they have no moves left and then move one again so that it forces the Auto-Turn to kick in. Kinda of a pain if you want to leave ships where they are to keep an eye on the enemy... Cheers,
I happen to like the power-ups. they are an integral part of the game. I think you'll find that the save stuff isn't fully in the game yet. I don't think it sucks at all having to pick the next technology. After all the one you are researching may lead to a technology you want next. You can't select the 'unknown' technology until you research the first one. Also what happens to change in strategy? BTW, the idea behind the ships just appearing is so you don't have to m
I think the party going for an economic win might need a bigger help that just one extra trade ship. What is an economic win anyway? 75% of the purchasing power in the galaxy? What is to stop the Technologists from researching the extra trading ships along with the battleships? Will the research item not be available to them?
Hopefully I'm missing something, I have collectively over 51500 months of research to go to finish the game at the current level. I'm so technology advanced I can crush anyone who is crazy enough to land on my planets with advantages in Offense/Defense/Techs ranging to almost 400 and I haven't even built a planetary defense system yet that its no fun to conquer the galaxy. I can take a planet with 30,000 billion with less than 5000 and if all there is is waiting for the research clock to count d
Hi, There are two research items that appear to win the game despite the text description indicating that they do. Galactic Domination and Galactic Peace both indicate you won but so far I've been able to research both and the game is still going. I only have two left to research right now, Mind Terror Weapons and Beyond Human.
I forgot to mention i zipped the contents of the savegame directories so if anyone wants the game to try and debug just let me know.
Okay i'm playing the first gigantic map for me at least one where i survived long enough to make a fight of it and i've got to the point where i can't progress any further. The game always locks hard. Each time I try the debug.err log finishes at the same point: Debug Message: Make Ship Leave Orbit: Brad Version Debug Message: Make Ship Leave Orbit: Brad Version Debug Message: Destroying ship Altarian Transport 0. Orbiting: 0 There are a whole bunch of Make
what about the ability to remove a trade route because you want to set up another one that is more lucrative? Can you trade between your own Star Systems? Seems to me that one Star System could produce goods that your other systems would require. Perhaps the benefits of doing so would be much less than doing an export trade, after all the other race must pay a premium but it would be handy if you could still gain some money from intra-race trading as well. (especially later in the game
If you declare war on one of your trading partners, do the trade routes stop automatically or do they have to be destroyed by agression? Should it be possible for two races to continue to trade whilst at war with each other? Can one of the political options be a trade embargo without actually declaring war? After all this happens all the time. 'You' annoyed me badly enough i'll not sell 'you' anything right now but i'm not about to start lobbing missiles in your general directi
I know you can see the production screen of a particular planet by clicking on the news article but once you've done that, the icon drops from the news listing and you also can't check other planets in the star system. If you exit the screen, your left looking at the next ship to move, not the star system so you have to scroll around until you find it again. Even on a medium map, I get confused as to where star systems are. My mind can only hold so much. The Find button cycles through s
Trying to build a fleet from the one screen is too complicated. It's too confusing even trying to see which ship is the one on top of the pile as it is. How about when building a group, the fleet listing comes up on the side bar and as you add ships to the list you can drop ships from the list by clicking on them from the side bar list? You should also be able to name the fleet/group so you can easily find it again. This way you don't get into the issue of which ship is on top
Can you assign a ship, like a battle cruiser or battleship to guard the freighter? This way it makes it a little harder for someone to destroy your trade routes.
Ah okay one of those features yet to be implemented. Figures, I just thought I'd throw it out there in case i missed something. Cheers,
it could well be that Jack but how small is it. I've preceived at least negative effects from banking centers with populations in the 1000 billion. Or so it seems anyway. Hopefully it will become much clearer once the maintenance costs of each item are displayed. Cheers,
