My key strategy is, unless I have at least 500% bonuses for my home world, it will always be an economy world. If I have one 300% manufacturing tile, it won't be my manufacturing capital, it'll just let me build my economy quicker. By doing that, I end up making +100bc from that planet, which is more than enough to keep about 4 planets running, till hoperfully I get a tile-less 20 which becomes my econ capital Doing that, you can survive the colon

The problem was when you get to late game, huge hulls, and enourmous weapons and defence on the ship, it was a pain to remove all of the weapons on the ship, especially when you have about 8 that need upgrading, finding and moving them was a bitch. So the upgrade button auto stripped everything.

I know there aren't green stars, but damnit they look cool! Like shabbit said, post this in the mods folder. There's quite a lot of people that would want this, and will miss it when the forums slowly push it out of sight Nice job

their influence bases won't have any effect on you.. There is a UP event where all starbase effects are granted to allies as well. Wondeful when the idiots want support in a war, send your ships over near their starbases. <TD class="mb-Body

0-attack "Defenders" This is deliberate. Brad mentioned the Terrans being told to do it, so it's possible the Drengin are as well. The idea is that they are cheap and fast to make, and you don't need attack to defend a planet. They slow you down enough for the proper armarda to arrive, and smash you i

There is no bust evvent AFAIK, just when the boom event stops, and your economy is back to what it was. I once had my home planet with a total of +1000% manufacturing. I knew it was a big risk to take, especially since habitable planets were rare, and tech was very slow, meaning I would have a tough time catching up with myself. I built them. As a result, I started to go into the red, and was kept alive for two reasons. 1: I was lucky

Because the AI is the game. Thus, (and here's the good bit) they KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME. You need to learn to optimise all your sliders, get some research worlds, get the infrastructure done. The AI will only cheat above at Incredible and above, where it gets a bonus to economy, nothing else. 148 turns is frankly terrible. If I leave till I have a supported infrastructure, enough research, economy, and factories to be competetive (if not in the lead), Planetary Invasion takes me an

What you're talking about appears to be a bug/glitch. I've seen it a few times on the relations screen, they say "at war with pirates." This is the first meeting, neither of us have trade or even an army. The Arceans in particular nearly never aren't at war with them. Anyone else noticed this?

Arrgh! I don't believe it! The forum isn't letting me paste the code as is! Well, this is the change. For some people it's not even worth it, but if Loyalty is your thing here you go: Path: c/program files/stardock/TotalGaming/galciv2/data/englishAbilityBonuses.xml Incorrect data for loyalty: 1 Correct data should read: 2 This allows you to add the loyalty, but you can also tweak the game h

I've noticed when editing the race ability bonuses in the older versions, that loyalty has a missing option in-game. Thought this might be fixed in 1.1, but it isn't in the beta. I don't want to waste the dev's time looking for it, it takes longer to find than to fix. So, the path is c/program files/stardock/TotalGaming/galciv2/data/englishAbilityBonuses.xml Just pase this over your current loyalty bonus data: <Abilit

Calm down, and take off caps lock. Some people get annoyed and won't read a post in full caps, even if it is a serious problem. The pop-up was almost certainly a driver issue, anything older than 2004 doesn't have a chance. Update your drivers, and the game should run fine. (make sure you patch it, the older versions do have some CTD issues)

You don't know much about history, do you? Actually, yes I do. I honestly didn't mean to be rascist or offensive, the question was has anyone ever had to surrender before they REALLY got smashed to save their people? yes, France did. They were being hit very fast, and surrendered so the wouldn't have

Can anyone give any example of a nation or people surrendering to a third party when the chips were down, and if so, was this recognized by the attacking party as legitimat? Bonjour Monsier. And I don't mean this in a rascist sense, the GAME agrees with me. Get into an alliance with the Ar

Read the dev journals. There is NO destabilisation, nor will there be. However, the expensaion pack "dark avatar" is going to add different types of espionage, so you can choose what havoc to cause, and can stop people causing havoc. Frogboy said it's gone because it's too wimpy.

Odd. I just did a few forum searches, and as far as I can see this hasn't happened before. I think someone once mentioned something about a turn button disappearing, but never buy/build. Sure you havent gone broke? If not, then try save/reload. If that fails, then try and get the file that says what line of code it's reading. If that still fails, Send a save to a dev. And sunofvitch, that's the entire point of the beggining game. 5000 bc to get infrastructure and insta-colonies, the land grab ph

For a recent lesson in the nerfing world see how many people walked off star wars galaxies because of repeated and vast mechanics changes Ouch. That was mean. Are you saying you fully expect people to leave purely because a game made replayable because it's difficult without cheating, is being made more difficult? I fail to see the logic. This

Hehe, this'll soon go with 1.1 and the 3% growth cap. Now you're going to have to manage you're economy differently, and develop new strategies. Dont you love it when they throw something new at you, to see if you can handle it?

(slightly off topic) Norton isn't very friendly anyway. It's given me blue screens before, even when turned off. (me playing galciv) "what the hell? why is the game being so damn slow right now?" alt+tab out of game to see what's going on. Q norton antivirus Virus Scanner to pop up "Hey! I know you uninstalled me (twice), denied me all priveleges, set my priorities to minimum when I wouldn't leave, and everything else you could think of short of genocide at the Norton headqua
