In regards to the middle mouse button issue, what are your settings in Windows for the middle button? It has to be specifically set to "middle button" or your system's equivalent thereof for it to work. If you have it mapped to say, "double-click" or something it won't work, unfortunately. You also should make sure you don't have another program open that could be "hogging" the middle mouse button. I've noticed that if I have my web browser open, for instance, the middle mouse button

Pokerface: Hmm. I had been thinking of modelling my Constructors after ants (when I think of "worker insects", ants come most readily to mind), but that *would* work pretty well for Transports too, I think. Peace & Luv, Liz
So, with the new patch I decided to scrap my old Thalan designs and try new stuff. So far I have: Link: Spider: Colony Ship The colony module just always looked kind of "spider abdomen" like to me. Peace & Luv, Liz
Raziaar: Sorry, I was going off this comment you made: Well, when I load an old saved game that had the ships, they're there. But I dont know why I can't use them in a new game. Which to me sounded exactly like the comment in the changelog on how ship designs in savegames will work fine, yo
*ahem* From the changelog that's been posted: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=164&AID=104660 + NOTE: Your ship designs from 1.0D1 and before will NOT show up in this version. We have updated this version so that the ships contain their own unique version ID so that when we do FUTURE updates, your ships w
Merak: Jeremy's location shows him as being in the US, so I doubt he has the Paradox version. Nastavnik: Try this list: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=164&AID=104660 I'm guessing that the stuff in blue is what's different. Peace & Luv, Liz
Considering there's about a gazillion threads on bug reports and suggestions and whatnot (not that that's necessarily *all* bad, mind you), how about more threads on the stuff we *do* like? I'll start off with my own list. 1. The ship builder and combat viewer. I know, I know, *everybody* likes these two things right? But there's even more to it than that, in my particular case. Ya see, I'm the sort of gamer who general
All right, I just tried this myself, and it worked: Go to: https://www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition/ Type your serial number into the left-side "Serial Number" text box. Click "Get Updates". Click the "Download" button just to the right of "Galactic Civilizations II Bonus Pack (includes latest version)". That should bring up a download dialog box for you to download and save the patch to run. I'm
Jeremy: Er... have you tried going to the Downloads section of the site? There's a nice big section at the top of that page with a place to download the latest patch. Here's a direct link, if you like: https://www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition/ Stardock Central not required. However, Stardock Central is a program that lets you download and update all the Stardock-related games and software you've bought and offers some optional Stardock-related IRC, br
I've noticed that myself... in pretty much everything related to the Metaverse, the Altarians and Arceans have their icons and text all mismatched with each other. Peace & Luv, Liz
Well... if you're talking about the very, very first mission... your objective is basically to capture the Drengin worlds, right? The listed objectives for each mission tell you what you need to do. In this particular case, you pretty much want to focus on getting lots of weapon-equipped ships and troop transports to throw at their worlds. Survey ships are a waste of time; the starting scout is all you need. As for the random adva
A-ha! I had been wondering what the tech Telepathic Defenses was supposed to do, since there didn't seem to be a matching ship part... maybe that's the Good-aligned Point Defense part? I know that the good-aligned stuff was apparently all fixed up in the latest patch, as well as some other things, so I'll have to update the lists. Peace & Luv, Liz
In addition to all the hull-related techs (Advanced Hulls+), you also need Xeno Industrial Theory for some reason. Peace & Luv, Liz
Did you lose that game? Losing the game gives a big penalty to your total score. Peace & Luv, Liz
Well, if someone else wants to mirror the files they are more than welcome to, but since alienharmony.com is my own paid webspace I have to admit I have no personal desire to fuss with free webspace provider accounts. I wish I could think of why it's not working for you, Bisio, but I've never had anyone tell me they've had trouble accessing my site before. (shrug) Edit: I have to admit, Saber Cherry, that I had been more thinking of putting the data *in* the wiki pages them
All right, I finished the Core Ship List: http://miscfile.alienharmony.com/galciv2/core-ship-list.htm I also tweaked the Life Support and Ship Parts pages to reflect the way that the range numbers in the data translates into actual range in the game. Jklgon: That's something I've been wondering myself. Peace & Luv, Liz
After comparing the various medals and character profiles I've seen, I *think* the ranks are simply based on the total number of games you've submitted. Peace & Luv, Liz
Fire up the "Battle of the Gods" scenario... IIRC that starts you off with all the available technologies. I do like your ideas. I'll mention that for the time being an enterprising forumite has set up an attempt at a battle simulator page: http://jedi.galciv.org/calc.htm Peace & Luv, Liz
Hmm. A few extra thoughts I'd like to add... For one, I agree with the thought that you simply can't put the very alien-looking aliens into the equation. So when it comes to the Major Races that pretty much leaves us with the Altarians and the Terrans. The GalCiv games already have an established backstory which, for whatever reason, already has established male characters for those two races. IMHO it's like, for instance, complai
I think Wounded in Action is if you submit at least five defeats. Peace & Luv, Liz
+ New ship weapons and defenses for Good aligned players: -Telepathic Defense -Subspace Rebounder -Dynamic Shielding -Arnorian Battle Armor ALL GOODIE-TWO-SHOES OF THE GALAXY UNITE! <
1) Wrong. The process runs all the time no matter what you are using your computer for while using system resources. We're both right, it's running in the background so that the next time you want to start Stardock Central it can help the program start faster. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Bo
I salute the fanatical stardock fans who were outraged by my post! You all should recieve a salary for your brown nosing services. Er, how is it brown-nosing to point out the following facts: 1. All the background process does is help the program itself start faster. 2. It is opt
I used Stardock Central to download, install, and patch the game. I just did CTRL-ALT-DELETE to check for anything SDC-related running in the background and didn't find anything. I just loaded both the game and Stardock Central and when I closed them both out I still saw nothing SDC-related running the background. I do notice I have "MCP SmartStartup" disabled. I'm guessing that it's exactly what it sounds like... you activate it and sdmcp.e
The game doesn't have an internal auto-save for screen captures. You need to either manually paste the PrintScreened image into an image program or use a screen capture program. Peace & Luv, Liz
