The game is not even close to being realistic. If you wanted to represent the size of the planets and the distances between them realistically, for example, you would need a high powered electron microscope to play the game. At any rate, when you build one ship, you got to think of it like it is a fleet of ships. Just like in the civilization games how one sprearman actually represents an army of spearman and not litterlly one sprearman. Also, keep in mind, how fast the popula

You are setting too tight a schedule for beta releases. I totally agree. I am also very suspicious that you could be handing us the cheese platter here. Therefore this Beta s not only about finding the usual small bugs, but also about tweaking the game balance a lot. Tis cannot be done in a week - especially for larger maps! Example: So I have normal propulsion and can trade for special propulsion tech (or better yet: st

The different tech trees all sound awesome, but you just know there till be balancing issues. One race will end up being the best choice. Oh well, as we are imperfect humans, the constant patches after release will help balance the game more. The point is to just have fun afterall. I can't wait for the scenario editer. With all of the other editing tools at your disposal now from ship designing to opponent design, it will be very easy to create whatever kind of universe you

I don't care what you guys do, but make planatary combat invasion animation much more exciting. It would be awesome if it was cinematic style. You see Drengin slaughtering torians with your phasor technology against their laser technology. Or you see that Thalins kicking but with good melee skills (they have multiple arms after all). When you choose asteroid collision planatary invasion tatic you get to see it, etc. ANYTHING is better than the current system of atari soldiers that a

To be asking such a question NOW, months before release, is pretty much a waste of bandwidth, young friend. The likelihood of it ever happening to anyone is something like getting struck by lightning while going into the lottery commission to collect your 1-player Mega-Millions payout, surviving to collect, then being hit in the street coming out by a pair of drag racing Model-T Fords. Now thats a chance in Hell!!!

Well if you know so much, which are the first 5 techs you would develop on a small map with 7 opponents with tech trading turned of, provided you're starting as the Altarians. That is a challenging question, is it not? Enlighten me. What are those 5 techs? You have taken the time to matematically figure the cost, benefit analysis of every possible combination for the first 5 techs for all races? With that dedication, you might as well help us get a cu

That is a whole other topic of discussion right there... the scoring system. While I do agree there should be an emphasis on speed of victory, it doesn't seem like there is much emphasis on difficulty. How much of a factor is the difficulty level on score?

Some new hulls or some changes to allow more weapons and other systems on ships would be nice. sometimes the space is very limited. I believe you can change this if you edit some game files but a built-in option to set the free space on hulls would be nice. You have researched miniturization techs correct? These can be some of the most useful techs of all. It is always a good thing when you can cram more on a given hull.

Smaller maps IMO are certainly more enjoyable. The game comes to a conclusion within a day if you play alot in that day. I would hate to play gigantic maps. Conquest can get tedious enough as it is. I do enjoy being able to have the game conclude quicker for some reason.

As for whether they are right or not about God, well I guess they will learn that answer about the time it is too late to make a course change. God, you threaten my people with hellfire and damnation. God - This is madness! This is reason!

overall i find the all-labs is better, except then it's a lot of work to switch over if you finish the tech tree I have never once come any where close to finishing the tech tree. Perhaps my strategy is flawed....

feralminded, your post was excellent!! thanks! My strategy is definetely changing. I used to build balanced worlds (if there were 8 tiles, 4 would have research buildings and 4 would have factories) Stupid me! Why not just build all factories and then focus each planet on research!

I remember at MacDonalds I only got a 15 cent per hour raise because I "spent too much time in the lobby". We weren't too busy, so I was so insanly bored that I spent every moment when I was not taking orders at the front counter cleaning the lobby. If there was just one dirty tray sitting on top of the trash can I would grab it, clean it, and put another piece of paper over it just to do something. It got so God-awful boring! Of course, I always kept a sharp eye on the counter so I could he

We just argue to understand each other and to increase knowledge. If anything, if my posts were ever flaming it is because a post was flaming toward me first. Many times, I have had aeitheists flat out call or imply that I am a stupid idiot for believing Near Death Experiences are possible of a genuine after-life. I provide counter-argument, but if someone insults me or assualts the Stanley Tarrant fortress, they better have at least 4 times the troops because I will defend my belief against

Sounds like the CTRL-N bug. If you use that a lot, there is a chance the AI will be reset to "fool", and will act accordingly....doing almost nothing. Oh man, the CTRL-Ners!!! In real life, you can't just hit CTRL-N if you end up paralyzed a drug addict etc. Take some pride and play to the end without CTRL-N!! Play with the hand you have been dealt!

I can prove to you that there are many people that use only 5 or 10 percent of thier brain. Just go to any Fast Food drive through and order more than three items. Do this and you will see that the 10% - 5% brain use theory may have a grain of truth to it. LOL. That is the truth! I don't think I have ever once gone to a MacDonalds drivethrough and have gotten all the straws, napkins, and sweet and sour sauce packets I ask for!!
