I can't stand tech trading because to keep up with the AI, you have to give into tech whoring where you trade for techs every turn and then sell them to the other AIs to make mad cash. If you don't do this, then the AIs will tech whore amongst themselves and all end up superior to you. Without a doubt, if you play with tech trading on and refuse to do any tech trading at all of your own, the game will be significantly more challenging. Also, if you play with tech trading off, then you get som

Kryo, do you work at Stardock in Plymoth, MI or do you tele-commute, work from somewhere else? You are basically the forum administrator?

You said you saw your body and them working on it in the operating room from above? And some of these details of the operation were confirmed with the docs when you "came back to life"? How long were you just looking at the operation? What was your vision (eye sight) like? Did you happen to see a seperate "spirit body", or were you basically just invisible above your body? How did you feel? How long ago was this NDE? I know lots of questions, but I am fascinated.

Given the current lack of any ability for starbases to defend themselves (in the long term) Every game I have played I end up with military conquest with phasor beam weapons and large hulled ships within 3-4 years at the most. I have never even come close to maxing the tech tree out. At any rate, nothing damages my ships more than star bases as they have a decent amount of hit points and two modules can give them an attack of 8 in one weapon category.

I'm certainly not a pacifist, but there needs to be limits on what weapons private citizens can own. Guns are practically illegal here in Australia. As with everything else in life, as soon as someone gets killed, the government brings in new restrictions that mostly just punish responsible citizens. The way things are going here in Australia, it won’t be too long before the government bans going outside your house at all!! Because going outside

This is an old request, but can you guys implement some sort of audio player that allows us listen to our own music in galciv2? The music is boring, to be frank. Does anyone here really like the music in this game? Be honest.... I think the music is ok. Particualry the Dark Avatar starting menu music. It is kind of relaxing in a way. Nothing to write home about. Now the music in Sins of a Solar Empire is AWESOME!!! I absolutley love the ope

I notice as I play this game, particulary in the early stages, I am constantly adjusting my industrial capacity to maximize what I can produce with the income of cash I currently have. As such, I constantly have to open up the domestic screen where I can adjust tax rate and industrial capacity. It would be nice if the tax and industrial capacity sliders were located on the main screen to make it easier to adjust these two things rather than having to take time to open up the domestic screen an

When does the next beta version come out? Am I correct that it has been over a month since any new updates have been made on sins? Just curious as I just want to make sure Stardock is working right (I know before I had to always refresh XML data). Also, will there be medals that other players can see on the these forums similar to the galciv 2 forums? I imagine they could be single player and multi-player medals?

who knows? it is a fun speculation. No, this may be true. Quit speaking like this is 100% proven. i am surprised you are taking offense. nothing in this world is 100% proven. as i said before, other than personal reports, which are unfortunately insufficient as a scientific proof, we have no indications of an afterlife. like i said before, this does not absolutely rule out the possibility of an afterlife, either. i am starting to wo

Yes, but the mind can be fooled, too. Are you familiar with Kant? This guy was something else. He believed you should always tell the truth no matter what. You should always tell the truth even if it means a close relative would die. The critique of pure reason is supposed to be one of the hardest books to understand ever written.

OUR universe presumably has 11-13 spatial dimensions, DEFINITELY more than 3. As for comprehension, we can and must utilize the tool of mathematics. Wow, definetely more than 3 spacial dimensions according to mathematics? And since we can't imagine or measure things except from our 3 spacial dimension universe that we live in, it isn't at all possible that things exist beyond our understanding? That maybe consciousness and life doesn't end with death i

If there are only two civs alive, each has only one planet and both of those planets are in the same system, then if one civ blows up the solar system with a Terror Star, who wins? I would say the above scenario would be almost impossible to happen, but what an interesting complication! Maybe whoever owns the terror star would win? (afterall there are probably many people on the terror star.) So terror stars will end up being starbases that

Religion ALWAYS causes conflict because of it's inherent nature. Religion is an expression of the human nature to want an explanation of the unknown and this explanation does not have to be logical, it just has to make the believer feel comfortable. Therefore by default you cannot have a logical/rational discussion with a "true believer” for their belief system is not based on the rational. That is why there is conflict even between religions that believe in the one g

One thing I can guarantee you though, is that even if there somehow is a god, it is nothing like any religion on earth or any other planet could ever hope to describe/understand, simply because a human mind could never hope to put into perspective something like that. Now this I agree with 100%. A neat little fact, fully 90% of Americans believe in a supreme being of some sort. And considering we are th

But the atheist have logic on their side. THere is no evidence for any deity so the default position is atheism. This is exactly why these threads cause heated arguments. Posts like these. A simple statement with absolutely no effort of explanation. Basically implying you are just an idiot if you don't accept my view without any explanation or civil debate.
