Easy, Say you have a MASSIVE Soldier bonus. You have a Transport with say, 3 Advanced Pods on it, well, your not going to send 3000 troops to a planet with only 1500.....hell, 500 troops should be enough. With the population changes I usually limit myself to 2 transport pods per ship. Actually, it is worth sending extra troops...that way the

but they don't auto-upgrade (they should "exist" in the upgrade hierarchy above discovery spheres or something).... No, they shouldn't. They are a sepparate, available to neutral civ only, research building. They are available MUCH earlier than discovery spheres and are the most powerful research building in the game. If you really want to go
Who knows, I once commented that there was a cutscene for medium class ships, but not huge... they may have removed them all for spite. I haven't had a chance to d/l and see, but would be interesting if they are gone.
Then I start building defenders while I research medium sized hulls. I start building defenders when I see other races have started building their military. It doesn't take much to keep them from thinking you are an easy target.
Well, this would seem to me to put a damper on invasions as well. You'd be limited on how many and how fast you can produce troops to take other planets. Bingo. I've found border worlds the easiest to conquer because your influence hopefully has some of them unhappy and available to join your invasion forces. Basically my advanced troop tr
I think it's been in since 1.1 beta 3. You will see AI's routinely send colony ships with 50, or less. I adopted the same strategy and while it takes a long time to establish additional tax bases, you still get to colony rush. Those 2500bc anomalies become sooooo much more important and the AI's don't make an effort to build additional survey ships, just scouts.
seems to me that if you put a warship on guard at , say a starbase, then taht warship should be the default target for the square under attack. that isnt so. when i think of guard i think of , well, GUARDING something, a starbase, another fleet of ships, a given point in space for what ever reason but that isnt the case. Knute, your defi
I still miss the function from GCI to launch ships out of orbit after construction (it was a handy candy), but okay maybe I have overseen it. Galactic Knight: You have missed it. It's in the civilization management section under governors. You can set up colony way points (which will auto launch from orbit after construction). I used it to
Heheh - I guess I'm not the only one that thinks of those lyrics whenever I see the name of that weapon. Noooooo, not alone in thinking... It take an extra special person to go and sing them though.
No copy paste allowed. Someone at Stardock make Frogboy retype the whole list again! Obviously just kidding.
Reading the 1.1 change log (now in the journal section) they are adding in more text. I'm still going to bet the grammar won't be perfect...and this time we'll know it was done on purpose.
I must be missing somthing obvious in the game set up. No matter race I choose and how I try to modify it I can never start as a Democracy or Federation. What am I doing wrong? Also, I can't seem to change my gov't. type, even when the approval is 1% The game is designed that way. Every civilization starts out Imperial. The government tech t
I don't have SDC installed on this computer. There is usually a "show pre-release" button at the bottom of the screen. If that is checked, you won't see new "final" installs but you should see the betas. Of course it's probably something as easy as someone updating the site for 1.1 faster than someone else got 1.1 ready for the site. It makes sense that the betas won't be available once 1.1 is out. I do feel your pain. I'm curious to see the difference be
1.0x is the OLD version. 1.1 beta 4 is the latest beta before 1.1's release within the next 24 hours. There is a rather long journal entry posted today about all the changes between 1.0x and 1.1
OP: Problem is, now that I've read all of his books Peter F. Hamilton's sequel to "Pandora's Star" has recently become available here in the states. It is "Judas Unchained" and I just started reading it last night. I loved Pandora's Star and things are already proving interesting in Judas Unchained.
Oh, and you don't need no stinking army if you have a silver tongue. I play on gigantic maps, so there's room to grow and expand without running into "that's my planet" issues off the start. It also allows an opportunity for trade, etc. No alien civilization has ever initiated a war against me. Wh
The neutral alignment buildings got left out of 1.0x. They are in the current beta and will, obviously, be in 1.1.
For some reason the Thalans have been the only ones arrogant/stupid enough to demand tribute from me in the last two games. Lets see: I'm leading in production, research, economy and influence and 5th (out of 6) in military. They demand tribute when we both are too far away to do anything but send scouts at each other. Needless to say the Thalans were scoffed at and were conqured a couple months later after I switched to military producti
I don't know, Marcathonas...that might have been a little harsh. The least you could do is print out the entire Galactopedia and offer to deliver it as well. I'm not usually that sarcastic off the bat, but I've been playing computer strategy games since Dos 2.0 when they came on 5.25 disks and my old dried up brain was more than up to the task
"we know what you are doing with all of those ships next to our border. i bet you learned that from watching human players, didn't you? it's lucky for you that i've got three beers in me, and need to go find more pretzels, or i might do something about it!" If they change it so we can comment on thin
and here I am using information warfare like a sucker I sent 4 advanced transports with 2 modules each (8 billion soldiers?) to invade a planet with a 26 billion population. I noticed there was a 40% approval rate so chose information warfare. I got 8 billion helpers to make it a clean 16-18 ratio.
I've noticed Earth 2150's trilogy on Stardock Central, but not 2160. How come?
Forum won't let me edit the longer post, so appologies for additional entry. Notice the 75% towards culture victory? Just a few turns earlier the quarterly report said I had 85% of the galaxy. Not sure why the report gives a different number than the "victory" screen. Just wanted to add that taking into account the territory I still
A few days ago I'd have to reply that this is a problem I've not seen. However, playing a game running the latest beta (which has sped the game up quite a bit), I did notice the only thing that slows the "end turn" process down on my computer: ships; specifically lots of ships. at one point I set every starport to build a constructor and set a waypoint to have every constructor go to one point in the galaxy. Keep in mind there's still fre
Nice grammar man I wouldn't suppose the inconsiderate prat who's acting like a grammar natzi even bothered to notice that if the regional language setting in windows is set to something besides English....it might be for a reason?
