I have no use for CTR-n now with the rare exception of a total corner start with no other systems around for 2 sectors. THAT, would be a non-viable start. Just getting a bad start is not enough to get me to make a new map. Noooo.... most fun game ever was gigantic map with very rare resources. I star

Just accept it, and counter it with your own SB I've done that. Then the Arceans contacted me about a sector report showing an influence starbase had just popped up...ok this time, but it better not happen again. Then all their allies started sending me the same message. I agree, the play
I played "sandbox" for about a month (never above "challenging") before finally giving the campaing a go (on normal). When I the Dread Lords showed up in Achilles Heel I became very happy I had played sandbox extensively. You have to know the game mechanics to be able to research, build your social infrastructure, trade, build ships.....without going bankrupt. In Achilles, I took all of 1 planet, built two military starbases and maxed th
This was identified within hours after B3 was released. They will have it fixed for 1.1 final.
Always got my back ups on CD Answered. Norton is a flaming piece of s*** that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. It IS NOT game friendly. Anti-Virus autoscans are
I have already conceeded that I may have overlooked something that allowed the entire event. But I don't know. Sure, most of that is on a cd-rom in a box somewhere. The point of the post was to illustrate: 1)that a first use of SDC installed the game when I expected to merely download a file. I would have created a new directory to then install. 2)the lack of an uninstall app with the downloaded version, or at least
Um, what soes any of this have to do with AMD? Inconceivable! It's there, plain as day in the debug.err file!
correct.
DOH! After installing 3 different betas, I never even thought to look when I installed a "clean" copy from disk. I made the "mistake" of updating the serial number before getting updates, so not sure if it defaulted to showing the betas, or if it was still there because that's where I last left it. Must learn to recognize lack of diagnostic abilities after midnight.
Having just installed a clean version of GC2 from disk, I hit the "update" button from the startup screen. Doing so opened SDC and displayed the available updates. 1.0x is not there...only the beta version is listed. Now I understand why there's been so many posts about people "updating" the game only to have it still be buggy. At least have the non-beta update available at SDC if you're going to have the game auto open SDC when the update button i
When I originally downloaded GC2, using SDC, I did not realize that instead of simply downloading a file SDC was also installing that file in the target directory. Since I use a "download" directory, the result was the GC2 files being expanded in the middle of a folder that has evolved from 5.25 and 3.5 disks through 4 computers over 12 years. While not comfortable with it, I let it be. Today I was given a boxed set and I thought it
I went to upgrade a core scout ship and all the jewelry was removed. Although, upgrading a "user" ship does not remove the jewelry.
When playing a regular game and ethics is finally researched, the player chooses their alignment and starts to receive any alignment bonuses as a result. I was messing around with the God Mode scenario (all players have all technologies) and I couldn't find a way to choose my alignment. Anyone know?
The most definitive answer you will get is in post#52 at this Link GalCiv II weapons don't have a range component. Therefore, tactical combat in the way you're thinking ala MOO is meaningless. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#F
For example, an enemy ship should not be permitted to move from consecutive space to another while adjacent to an enemy Starbase Why not? To do it that way removes any benifit from making faster ships. If that starbase can come chase my 20 movement ships, then it can attack them.
the Range of GalCiv Spaceships is very high. After a couple of turns, you could reach every edge of the Map ?? I'm not sure what map size you are using, but I've played on the gigantic map where a ship with 6.5 range still didn't have the range to scout out the opposite side of the map. Granted, I se
I want to be able to drop a *single* gun item with the rating of *several* of that tech-levels weapons. I don't want to cover my ship in inflated guns - I want to be able to mount *less* weapons, with the same power. Hence, laser-1 and 'huge laser-1 (damx2, sizex2, nice turret graphic)'. Hmmm... ok.
Also, if you happened by the "Downloads" page, you will notice a link in the upper right hand corner for European customers to correct their serial number.<
Also, the beta versions are working with a 3% population growth....drastically lowered from the 1.0x growth rate. You may not need to worry about adjusting pop growth once 1.1 is released.
but graphically I'd like to be able to choose between ST/FS2 style 'flush gunports', regular guns and 'ginormous battleship turrets' on components. What Kalin said: I
The greatest representation of this is the ballistic submarine, which can appear out of nowhere, launch a huge amount of devestation, and then vanish. Another example would be the cruise missile. You haven't put a lot of engines on a ship yet have you? Once your tech has gone a few levels into engine
If you don't want to steal technologies, don't put any money into espionage.
Link #2 in that article mentions tool tips.
My computer is 3 years old. First CTD came after almost 2 days of solid game play. that's when I updated my video drivers. Second CTD came with the 1.1Beta, though I was going back and forth between resolution modes and windows mode. That's it. In a month of use starting with the original version and upgrading to x, then installing both betas, I've had a total of 2 CTD's....both my fault. It is a bit odd to see so many complai
MOO1, 2, Stars!, and Space Empires all allow fleets to be used against planets; I'm not really sure why GC2 decided against it. GC2 isn't any of those games; it's a different game entirely. <TD cla
