Post your debug.err log found in the main game folder. Thanks!

Can you post the debug.err log located in your main game folder?
Now if the forum software was as good as the game...I would be extremely happy I'll second that!!!!! (Speak of the devil, trying to post this I keep getting Blank screens. And it logs me off the web site. The SQL squirrels are on the loose again!!!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/
There is a check box in the ship upgrade window to do this.
PLEASE, PLEASE edit that post. It took 5 minutes for it to load and I am on High Speed cable. You only need to post the first part of the log, and maybe the last 50 or 60 lines. Suggestions: Update your video and sound drivers. Too old. I'd recommend updating to XP - 98 is old. Go back to the 1.0x version until the 1.1 version final is released. Try to remember that these are Beta versions
@xFlukex Comparing the Civ4 and the GalCiv2 Ai is a matter of taste. Both are good. Both have their good and bad points. Personally I'll give the edge to the GalCiv2 Ai. But I don't like Civ4 at all, so I'm prejudicial. This could be argued until the cows come home, but that would be hijacking this thread, and I'd rather not go there . I'll agree to disagree and move on. Back on topic, I agree with Kalin that I too would wa
Sorry for the delay - just had a bad electrical storm go through and lost power. Have you tried to contact SD about this? They are in the Chat rooms at SDC every weekday during business hours and beyond - US Central time. I wish I could be of more assistance - but without actually looking at your pc I can't do much more than guess right now. Maybe your Binks installation is hosed? Perhaps someone else may have a suggestio
I was able to load from a Beta3A save no problem. I then saved the game with Beta4. Loaded that save and it took 1/2 the time the Beta3A save did to load. @genocide - I'm not sure this is the best place to place debug.err - though I could be wrong. It makes reading replys to the journal very difficult. Perhaps it would be best to make a thread in the Bug forum and link to it.
Another issue: When you click on the sub-forumsdrop down box and select go to a forum, you get the blank page. The subforums are gone. (Strategy, AAR, etc.) Blank pages becoming more common. Bet that SQL datatable is being eaten by that hungry squirrel again.
@Danes The fix for that was posted tonight. Beta 4. And all trolls are not nasty mouthed poor grammered yammerers. Some are of the intelligent, smooth talking passive/aggressive types. A wolf in sheeps clothing is still a wolf. (I'm not referring to anyone in particular - just making a general comment. )
I don't find stealing earlier techs useless. Combat techs can be used if you want a cheaper alternative for a specialized design. Some of the diplo or other techs have bonuses that go with them that otherwise you would not get.
Beta4 corrects a lot of shipbuilding problems. It was released tonight. Check your SDC.
Of coarse we want a better Ai. That said, this game has one of, if not the best, TBS Ai's out there. One thing players can do is to try playing at a harder difficulty level if the game is not a challenge. As you are doing, keep making suggestions to the devs as that is what will make the AI better. A good discussion of the proposals pro and con can only result in the devs getting more info to make the ultimate AI.
Its better to use the removal tool. But best check at the ATI site. Control Panel uninstall may miss something, but is better than nothing. If you are running XP, it should allow you to run in native 16 color mode without any drivers installed. The best place to remove the drivers from is while running in Safe Mode. You can add the new drivers there too if the box won't boot into the regular XP 16 color mode after removing them.<br/
JFMI, before you installed the omega drivers, did you completely uninstall the old ATI ones first? If not, that could cause issues. ATI makes a removal tool on their website. At least they used to.
You need to set your machine to use Regional English. This is a well known issue that has been put in Sticky here on the forums for long time. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=109533 Make sure to read the whole thread. See, your debug.err log DID help. Let us know if there are still issues after you make the required
You can manually change the settings in the prefs.ini file located in the \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder.
@Imperator44 Turn off in game anti-aliasing.
The icon on your desktop may point to the GC2Launch.exe instead of the galciv2.exe. Big difference. Try running it from the Run line. Open the Windows Start menu, go to Run, browse to the folder where galciv2.exe is. At the end of the line add the word 'cheat' (no quotes). Example: G:\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe cheat
Bump for anti-trollism. I too have enjoyed this game immensely. I really looked forward to Civ4 - but - I never could get my system to be able to allow it to finish a game ( my fault btw) , but that's okay because I never got the "One more Turn" experience from it despite all it's glitz and glamour. I could have dealt with the issues it had on my sytem, (not blaming those devs for them) if I really wanted too, but the gameplay was j
Man that was QUICK!!!!! Now if I can only get done with working weird hours soon to actually play more than an hour or two....anyway you can implement that change quickly?
@cakruege Sorry I have to disagree. In my experience I have suffered 3 or 4 crashes - one intentionally. All but one on a beta version. if you are experiencing issues, why not ask for help? Post your debug.err log and describe the issue you are having.
I just downloaded the newest version there today and it worked fine - created a zip and all. I have XP -it has built in zip functionality, and winzip installed though.
Smart Exception. Get it the SDC freebies. Run it before starting the game. If the game crashes it will generate a report. You can click on it's icon in the tray and it will zip the stuff up so you can attach it to an email and send it to stardock. Downside Not automatic, Upside doesn't add baggage to the game this way, and only folks who need it can run it.
I am getting browser crashes today on the site too. Have not really had those before. Latest version IE. Been submitting the error to MS if that helps. (Please don't rag me. I am a MS professional consultant and have to use it. Have to know my products.) Cleaned out all javascript stuff, cleaned out all files and relevant cookies, updated all objects in IE such as activeX and Flash for example. Also get the error Frogboy
