What version are you running? Can you post a debug.err log found in your main game folder?

You do not get troop ships until you research Planetary Invasion. You will get a pre-made basic Transport ship. But it is always better to make your own. You do this in Shipbulder.
Check out the Wiki and the Modding forums - there are threads with instructions on how to set up Custom races to replace regular Ones.
In Beta3 there was a bug that would auto-obsolete designs so you could not save them when upgrading. This is fixed in Beta 3A released yesterday. Is this what you mean?
@Zippyriver The newest vesions sincve 1.0x do not use shipclass files. 1.1 uses .XML files instead. To keep track of threeads, you can add them to your Browsers' favorites menu. Click on Favorites when you are in the thread and clcikc add to favorites. most if not all Browsers support this. I created a separate Folder in my Favs for keeping track of threads since the Forum software watch feature does not work.
1.10[b3].015 (Beta3 A) just released yesterday has the Auto-obsolete bug fixed.
Can't vote but I can se the poll results. Apolyton and Civfanatics for me. Then I heard about the rukus over Starforce at a tech forum, learned of SD's 'no CD to play' strategy that treats customers like the honest people they are, and that cemented my intent to get it. I could not play civ4 due to it not liking my PC setup, and was looking for a TBS to spend my time with. After I saw the Starforce stuff, I remembeed discu
There is a thread about a Wing commander Mod in progress here. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=348&AID=106733
@Flash - try turning off anti-aliasing.
On the main screen toolbar, click on the Planet/Shiplist Button. When you click on a planet in the list, the main map recenters on that planet, and the shipyard is available in the regular place onthe main screen. You can quickly go through the list. You can sort the planets by different categories in the list on top of the Planet/Ship list screen. Rally Points are one of the categories you can sort by. You can do t
BTW GCFL, you can't be dragged into a war your Allies start themselves as the aggressor. Only if they are attacked does the alliance kick in.
Well, Beta 3A is out now....it was released last evening. 1.10[b3].015. It is avaialable on SDC now.
The edit and Quote buttons are back. Another error I am now seeing is that when I go to some post pages I am getting logged out. I. E. I click on a thread, and when the thread opens I am no longer logged in. This happens especially on multiple page threads on the pages after the first one. Have deleted all my offline internet files
@Jeffrey Pinard 1.1 Beta 3A change log here. Beta 3A was released Monday evening 4-10 after this thread was posted.. (It's avaialble on SDC now.) So some of these issues may have been addressed. (In the changelog thread Frogboy says they know about the multiple starport one, but it will not be fixed in 1.1.) https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx?AID=112525
Your Video drivers are over a year old. Update them. Most recent ATI drivers were released this past February. Your sound drivers are really old. Update them too.
Update your video drivers - there were some released last month for the Nvidia cards. Update your sound drivers if possible. If not, try disabling your sound card and see if that helps. If not, that narrows down the issue. Try running in Windowed mode. Leave the game resolution smaller than your desktop resolution. If you run in full screen, Try setting your game resolution to match your desktop resolution when you
#1 Freightors will only move one square at a time once they are on the trade route. The advantae to putting more engines on them is to get them ot the planet to get the route set up quicker. Also, I do beleive that sensors work on them while on the route. I assume armor and weapons would too, but I have never tried. Your choice to decide if getting them there faster is worth the extra cost. #2 I do Occasional Habitable, Number o
@Butcherski after enemys turn you get the GNN news showing what has just build, but when en enemy planet revolts and joins your civ and it shows after you click on "go to planet" and when you click on the plaents surface its shuffles somehow with the planet that just joined you and you can to shit on neither of them ... It's unintentional
You need to post your debug.err log here so we can help. It is located in the main game folder. I highly doubt an ATI based card doesn't have drivers available that are not newer. You can use Omega drivers in any case for that brand card. 2 year old drivers will not render MS directX 9.0c correctly as that software has only been out less than a year. And the game requires that version of directX to function. Regardless, post
They are still there. I have found that I get them more often playing races with extra Luck characteristics. But I haven't realy played enough to say if this is a trend or just the RNG. I'll let you know in a thousand games or so.
That begs the question...if you started the war but were getting your butt walloped would you stick around, and refuse making a peace treaty so you could survive, just to see it through so they can win?
Post -Apocalypse....that reminds me of Fallen Angels by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Michael Flynn. It is not quite apocalyptic, but it is a a fun read. http://www.larryniven.org/reviews/fallen_angels_review.htm
Tab has worked for me in all versions so far up to and including 1.1b3A. Never had any issue with it other than the fact I have fat fingers and miss it sometimes.
@Tanin - Alliances are how you get a Diplomatic Victory. You have to have alliances with enough races to qualify. Isn't that a benefit? That is why they are hard to get, since they can determine a victory. You have to work for them.
