I like it the way it is. Less mm, streamlines the game. There are ways to learn how to deal with it - improve your strategy.

Try updating your video driver to start. That strange early stuff is actually normal. It's usually the end sections of the debug log that seem important. Best to post the whole thing. Also, there may be something else you have to do since this is a dual cpu box - there is a Sticky thread with instructions for dula cpu's in it here on the forum.
Make and Model of Card?
That said, I do plan to eventually have an XML file that people will be able to use to tweak the AI themselves. But that's still in the future. Way cool! I'm hoping to e
Update your video drivers. The game requires a 1GB page file. You may have to manually set this as XP may not automatically adjust it that high with that little RAM. Update the game - v1.0x is much better.
Nice! One issue, It will not let me specify a mods folder no matter what path I type. Is this feature enabled? Sorry if it's been asked/ answered; this program is new to me.
The ships are saved in the save game file too - so when you load it your old designs for that game will return. You can delete all the files in the My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships folder to get rid of everything - or select those you want to delete. I'd copy and save the folder somewhere else as a backup though just in case. But if you load save game the old ships are stored in, they will come back. What version are you
Its there. It's a very fine line. You may have to adjust your background settings or video contrast/brightness settings in the game Main Menu options screens. I found that the background Nebula was very annoying so I set it to 1 and it dissapears. But I like lots of stars becasue they help add contrast.
As the save game gets bigger you have to expect it to take longer. There is more stuff that has to be processed and saved or restored. My games can take up to 3 minutes or so to load when I am playing a huge Galaxy and the game has been running for a while. I don't run in full screen, I have found it is faster during a game to run it in windows mode so I don't have to alt-tab; but that is my preference. Windows mode forces XP to use
Do you have a save where it is reproducable? May be hard to pin down if it is just a random thing. May want to email the debug log to Stardock.
Page 11 inthe manual. "Trade Routes increases the number of trade routes your civilization can maintain." If you get 25% more routes, than if the Base route number is 4 you get 1 more. 4 + (4*25%) = 5.
Look in the Library here on the Galciv2 site. Check the modding forum. There is a modder who is working on some very high-res Star trek stuff. Absolutely gorgeous. A lot of modders are waiting for ver 1.1 to go final as the Shipyard has been updated from earlier versions, and ship files are now saved in XML. Some fan sites also have downloads available.
Yeah - betas are not necessarily stable by definition. But you should try updating your dirvers. you Audio driver is way old too - that can cause issues and is often neglected
That computer is not up to snuff. Your video card drivers are way old - will not support the newest directX 9.0c version. Update them. You have wayyyy too little RAM - with only 256 XP sp2 must be struggling, let alone any apps on top of it. That said, if you update your vid drivers tha game should still run albeit slowly. The game requires a page file of at least 1GB. You will have to manually set this as XP will not allo
Good stuff in this thread.
"At Normal the Ai is running at 75% of economic capability. Ai evaluate Common human tactics." Right from the manual. If you are insinuating the ai has advantages below the Intelligent level, this just ain't so. After intelligent, it does get cheats. Right in the manual again. This is not an easy game to learn. However you can adjust each race's intelligence level to suit you. Just keep trying different combinations until you fin
You can go into the governors screen and uncheck auto update for improvements. You will have to do it on all planets you do not want to auto-improve. Go to the planet management screen. Click details. click the govorner button and uncheck auto upgrade improvements and/or auto-terraform buttons. Note this will not make the earlier buildinga available in the build queue, it will just prevent the existing buildings from being
Also, try running in windowed mode to see if this behavior continues.
Looks like maybe your card is not supporting that resolution at 32 bit. The game requires 32bit to run. Got to the prefs.ini in the \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ folder and edit the following: [Video] DisplayWidth=1152 DisplayHeight=864 ColorDepth=32 Fullscreen=0 Set the first two to a smaller resolution than your desktop that you know is supported at 32 bit. Make sure the Colordepth is set to 32. Set Fullscreen=0 to force Windowed mode.
Try building Influence structures such as Embassy's on your worlds. Influence Starbases really only affect things in their radius. They have very little affect outside of it. Planetary Influence is much stronger. You can build multiple structyures on a World to multiply the influence affect. Make sure if you do use influence starbase you add the modules. They do nothing without them. They are extremely good a t flipping planets whe
Can you post a debug.err log - it is in the main game folder.
Best thing is to read the Strategy and Game talk forums here for hints for improvements on Game playing. The Ai is very good in this game. There is a learning curve that is fairly steep - if you are having issues I'd suggest a lower difficulty until you get the hang of it. #1 -Yyou can't. Just invade. In the newest builds the aI will notice when you move strong ships near their worlds and complain. #2 Influence poin
See you have a dual processor. Have you tried checking out this thread for solutions? https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=102033#862130
Not stupid at all. But I don't know. You can download it direct from StarDock however.
