If you mean that the text is missing from the windows, then that is an install problem with the 1.1 beta ver3. You have to reboot to see text. The last release version was 1.0x - any 1.1 versions are betas and may have problems. If a reboot fails, try reverting to the 1.0x build.

You can edit and fix any typos in the game's xml files. There are a LOT of grammer and mispellings - they are being fixed as time allows, but I'm sure they are well down on the list of things for SD to do right now until they get the gameplay issues optimized.

-Second point is not a bug - it is a conscious design decision. You cannot launch a transport ship empty. Has been that way from the start. -Are you sure about the military production? I am not seeing that. If you go to your Economy management screen for your whole empire, you will see the numbers being changed on the right hand side as you mess with the individual planets military production. -I build lots of extra constructors and colony ships too and leave them lay

@OP I noticed that too last night - there are a lot of Capitals being built - I'll have to go into cheat mode and check it out. But perhaps the Drengins were building a capitol when it flipped to the Arceans - then the Arceans started one - even so, that should not be allowed. I think that when a planet flips all capitals and race special projects should be destroyed anyway. This would fix that issue of having more than one

@ Marcathonas - FYI In the newest builds you have the option whether or not you want the components stripped when upgrading. It is in the Interface Option menu under the Main Menu. You can change this in game - it is great - now if you want to upgrade every component you can, or if you only want to pick and choose which of the original components you want to upgrade and leave the rest you can. Best of both worlds. Actually I think the OP

Have you tried changing the default temp location for downloads? Sometimes Windows goes a bit screwy with long path names and security issues if there was a file that was corrupted in the last folder in the path. Create a folder on your root drive, use a short one word name such as sdtemp, and direct the SD program to use that as a temp file location to see if that works. (This can be done in the settings menu.)

You need to run the game with Regional English enabled. I can't find the link but there are instructions on fixing this problem here somewhere on the forums. Maybe some one else can supply it.

@clicks - There is a stand alone Galactopedia you can download and install. You can run it at the same time as the game - really convenient if you are running in Windowed mode, but you can alt-tab out to it if in full screen. It is pretty cool - not quite as good as having an in game one - but then again SD doesn't have the resources to do everything right now like some big companies do. https://forums.galciv2.com/?Fo

In the beta 1.1v2 I had 6 map sizes - Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge and Gigantic. I think you can make your own custom maps through modding. May want to check out the modding forums to see how.

Can we not turn this into a bash XP thread please? I understand users of other platforms wanting the game - but the simple economic fact is the SD does not have the resources to do this. (They are a company that specializes in designing software apps - games are just one part - for Windows now. Used to be OS/2, but that product is no longer commercially viable to support.) I'd rather them spend their limited time and energy on getting t

And a second patch that is now in the 3rd beta - scheduled to be production next week I believe. 2 patches in 2 months - that is pretty durn good. BTW, sorry you are having issues, but the vast majority of people seem to ok - yes, there are bugs, especially in the Beta builds, but overall IMHO this is an extremely stable game as games go. If you will post your debug.err log perhaps we can help.

You can do Hotseat by using the cheat mode. If you search the forum - I beleive it is in the Things You didn't Know Sticky thread by Frogboy on how to do this. AFAS Linux, keep dreaming. Stardock is a company of under 30 employees - I doubt you will see this anytime this decade.

I have just tried it I now understand what you are saying. I just made a version 2 of a ship, and it obsoleted the first version - which I still wanted to keep around as an option to build. I agree - this should not occur. It is impossible to use a consistent template throughout the game and keep the different versions. Big Problem. Kills much of the fun of the Shipbulder. Is this a bug or feature? If it is
