Posts may not appear in the forum until they are replied too. Only on the GalCiv II Main page. Can you post your debug.err log? (Located in your game directory.) Sounds like you are running at a very low resolution - you will not get a lot of detail if this is the case.

Deleted. Never mind - editing on original post finally worked.
After installing the v3 Beta, when starting the game there is no Text on the Main screen, or any other screen. XP sp2. A System Reboot is required to be able to see the text. Thanks to Rogue Metro for the solution! Post #4 in https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=111951#860461 (Screen shot is posted in that thread by crackma in post #3. If nee
I just was able to start the new beta and have the same issue as crackma. No text at all on the startup screen. I think I read somewhere that we may have to turn off the modding files - it is looking for .png files in the mod directory that are not there. I'll see if I can find the earlier thread in the 'forum thread stew' where thesolution was made. (This is when i hate not having a search or find all posts by a user function as I posted on that thread. ) ON EDI
Try updating to the newest version 1.0x. See if this is fixed.
Nice read! Thanks!
Try increasing the size of your page file to 1.5 GB. From your description, sounds like something is eating up system memory, and your system is having a hard time keeping up with the rendering. As a tip, XP sp2 doesn't really run optimally unless you have at least 1GB of system RAM. Also, if you could post a debug.err log that may help.
Can you post a dxdiag with your system specs? Go to the Start menu, Open the run line, and type in 'dxdiag' (no parenthsis). Click on the save all information box, and when it has collected all the info save the file as a .txt file. The first six or seven sections are the most important fro a first look - if you want to cut and paste them here I'll see if I can see anything.. (You can paste the rest, but it is a long file and to start the most imp
@Zakdog - Frogboy mentioned in a post last night that they are targeting to have the release version out next week. This is the last beta. But as you know, "all the plans of mice and men..." (or perhaps 'squirrels and Altarians' would be more apropos.... )
Version? Have you made sure that the races are enabled?
First part I believe is just the quirks of the RNG. Luck if you will. You can use Cntrl-N (by design - SD made it easy to use on purpose) to re-draw the map as many times as you want without losing any other starting changes to get a starting position you want to play.... The second I can't comment on as I have yet to be able to play the new Beta....
I thought I read that ver 1.1 b3 addresses and fixes this issue. You can now make changes and not lose the default characteristics.... can someone verify this as I've read conflicting posts about it - I will not be able to play for a few hours yet ????
I think the cut scene just meant that the minor race now had that technology for sale - kinda like an advertisement. You would have to go into the Diplomacy screen with them and negotiate for it just like usual - though they would probably sell it much cheaper than the Yor would. Overall, minor races work just like the majors - except they cannot colonize planets, and their influence is not scored - but I think they can use influence st
As far as buying ships - are you doing this in the Colony Management window? You can click on the ship that is building in the far right column and it brings up the Build/Buy ship window - you don't have to go to each planet individually. You can manage all your shipyards right in one screen. As for a lot of the rest, Beta v3 is now out - I'm sure it will have some changes and fixes.
Yeah - that really is a bit stupid --- but what do you expect from a Drathian?
Version 1.1 has a checkbox option in the game options to keep the old components or strip them off. Your choice. you can change this in game so say if you want to just upgrade engines you can; a few turns later you may want to upgrade a design completly so you can uncheck it. and you will get a totally stripped ship to upgrade. Pretty cool. Its under the Main Menu Interface options I believe. You can also select the amount of rotati
In ver 1.0x the trade routes that I establshed would simply switch over when a planet flipped. Now the ones the Ai established would disappear. If the planet was conquered in a battle however, the route would go away. Not sure how it works in 1.1; I haven't been playing that one enough (like 4-7 hours a night is not eough lol) - right now I am playing War strategies and don't pay much attention to trade.
What version?
Hit the Tab button. It will bring up the ship that is waiting to move.
What level are you playing at --- is this a sandbox game?
They 'Raptured" ????
NP - I now know I'll get some indication eventually one way or another. That's all I can ask for. I remember submitting stuff to the Sims Library once many many moons ago and it never appeared, I was never told if it was rejected or accepted - nada. But that was EA after all.... It's more important for you all to spend your time to get the game tweaked....for the rest , "The Earth is Slow but the Oxen are patient".
Not sure what you mean --- is this in the XML file or the characterfile? I was unaware of a second loyalty option....TIA!
Thanks for pointing out the obvious Drawfour - I stand corrected. [blush] It's just that I don't see much 'shared video' memory anymore with the clients I am now dealing with - I mostly work on Servers and high end WS for the past few years - I totally forget about that. My bad. Definitely time to invest in a new card with onboard memory....can probably pick up an older 128MB one up for under $40 online...maybe even under $30....
Your profanity is unnecessary to get your point across. Especially taking some folks God's name in vain. That is uncalled for. Have you tried contacting the outlet you bought it from and geting a shipping tracking number? Sometimes people do make mistakes you know.
