It's a winstyles theme, which means all the components are contained in the file and assigned to the appropriate program (WinBlinds etc) by what used to be winstyles and now is the thememanager program in the Object Desktop. So you should install thememanager and then use that to load the suite.

The specs you gave on the Dell laptop are fine for running XP. You'd need to do some troubleshooting and be more specific about the behavior that led you to say that XP was unstable. Sometimes it's the little things.

I thought Frogboy mentioned that ObjectDock was an SD gizmo they developed before Mac had their dock. With the popularity of the Mac dock and Y'z dock, SD decided to release it as freeware. Notice how while Apple in essence shut down distribution of Y'z dock with threat of legal action, they apparently haven't bothered SD about Object Dock. Ok, so when you uninstalled did you check with a registry cleaner to make sure all bits were removed and then rebooted so you could do a clean reinstall? Sometimes that can make a difference with an app. Also again, are you running the shareware version or do you have the purchased registered version? The shareware version might be time limited now as I mentioned. But I'd imagine there would be some notice of that, if that was it. Anyway, this message board is not Stardock support.

The mods no longer notify submitters due to the receipt of hate mail and threats, etc they would subsequently receive from unhappy people. You need to clarify what you've downloaded. For example, have you just downloaded skins without downloading the programs that make the skins work? If so, that's your problem. WincdowBlinds and a number of other apps do work on W98. But if you download a WindowBlind skin without the WindowBlind program, of course it won't work.
