Not too busy to download logons just too busy to figure out what they are and how to use them. Hope this guy isn't a surgeon, auto mechanic, pilot, air traffic controller....

If its a Desktop X theme you'll need the desktop X program. Winstyles for winstyles, WindowBlinds for windowblinds, etc. Look at the library from which you downloaded the theme and look at the top of the library, above the various uploaded themes/skins/whatever for more information about the software you'll need to use the theme/skin. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" borde

Some other people have reported having problems downloading recently. Dunno what's up. About download.com just in general, you'll often see the most interesting comments there. Sometimes people don't like a product or vendor and just like to dog it by posting stuff. Or who knows what the real situation is that resulted in the problems they say they have? Someone will always claim they had to reformat their PC because of some software product that most others I know find totally innocuo

If you mean that people who upload should provide info regarding the resolution of their walls and logons, that sort of thing, I do agree. Sometimes they do, sometimes they include several resolutions and note them in their comments, sometimes they don't mention anything at all and then you have to download to find out. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" AL

If you use two or three of the OD apps routinely it's still worth the OD subsription price IMO. You get other apps that you might want to use on occasion, prerelease betas if you're brave and unlimited WC downloads and preferred access. I do think it's good value for the money, even though I ususally don't make use of all the apps available on OD. And the annual renewal costs less than the initial purchase price and you get all program updates to new versions. So....just figure the cost of the

Well on the satire or parody front, it might depend on how it is used...if the original copyright holder (google) claims that it might confuse people thinking the site is indeed associated with google or if the name is close enough to play off the google brand (and benefit from the implied association and/or the use of a sound alike lookalike identification with google) and/or if such association also negatively impacts on or detracts from the rep/image of the original name brand/site, they migh

If you've seen a screenshot here with a windowblind and wall or a windowblind hosted here where the author used the wall, ask the author/uploader or the blind or screenshot where the wall can be found for download. With the info you posted so far, can't tell which one you are talking about.

msmsgs.exe is the Messenger IM program which is *not* the same as the messenger service. The messenger service is what allows messenger popup spam if one is not running a firewall to block the open port(s) used by the service. See the MS article on the messenger service which also includes instructions on how to disable it: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/communicate/stopspam.asp Simply having a firewall like ZA that blocks open ports (and also not allowing programs

Well Chas I looked at the Task Manager pic of running processes she posted when she was trying to get help. It good to check out the details when you're trying to help someone with their rig to avoid giving advice that's a tad off the mark. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" AL

Hmn...have you been using ZA Pro with privacy features and web filtering? If so, that might be it. Also, if you are using ZAP doesn't it have a way to exempt specific sites from the privacy features? Regular flavor ZA free/ZA Plus shouldn't be doing that.

Ah dabe, just an observation that the "expert" who said NAV was "better" than Kaspersky really was no expert at all, at least not much up on AV's and security stuff. I don't use KAV myself but if you still have it available and were previously using it without any issues, I'd suggest dumping NAV and reinstalling KAV. Also, recently there have been an increasing number of reports of issues with some Symantec products, Live Update, etc. Not by the usual critics and moaners I should note

, as I pointed out it's my own personal taste not an objective standard. Clearly you also don't appreciate or like everything that is hosted here so I guess that means you are dissing others work as well when it doesn't suit your personal taste. Just perhaps a suggestion that your and your friends' estimation of your own work might not be shared by all others, especially when it's competing for space on a site
