If you still have no luck with the cross referencing trick, email Stardock support and they should be able to sort it out for you. But again, they're off for the holidays so it will take some time to get a response.

As other sites have discovered, ads don't make sufficient revenue to offset the costs of a site like this. Futhermore, the site owners have restrictions on the kinds of things that are advertised here so those driveby download crapware/spyware popups and ads are not welcome here. So ads really don't contribute much to the maintenance of a site like this. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.g

As noted if you already have a paid registered version of WB you just need to change your email to the email used to purchase/register the app. Cross-referencing the account is as they call it. That should give you some of the site perks without paying again for a subscription. If you have any problems with this come back and ask (SD staff have a nice holiday break so I imagine email support will wait until next week.) See, you left out a pertinent part of your story, you should have me

Ah, don't know about this particular app but there are other apps that should help prevent such things (like spyware and browser highjacking) and there are apps that can let you see what browser helper objects (BHO's) are installed to work with your IE. I'm talking freeware. I'm not aware of a freeware all in one deal that seems to cover all of this stuff but you might check out apps like SpyBot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard. (Googling by name should get you to their

From the SD FAQ: Q: I don’t have a credit card. How can I purchase Stardock software? A: We also accept checks or money orders in US funds (no Eurocheques, please, as they are not certified funds). Please print and use the order form at https://www.stardock.com/order.txt (also found in the directories of Stardock’s shareware products) and mail with payment to: Stardock Systems, Inc. 17292 Farmington Rd. Plate tectonics is not a physical law (like the laws of physics for example). Roughly speaking it's an observation and explanation, based on evidence of where things were and are now, of how continents have moved and how things are still moving. Continental drift, creation of mountains, etc. Like there was at one time Pangaea where all the currently known continents were all in one piece and now we have them split out. Like the San Andreas fault being where two plates meet and the Pacific plate

Well since some changes may be in the works for the messageboard (there is a thread on that here) perhaps we can have a "Rants" section and those OT posts that qualify can be booted over there. And perhaps we can have subsections, Serious rants, Silly Rants, and maybe in the spririt of the great Monty Python an "Arguments" section too. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=fu

I have no idea what is being considered or how the programming works or what it would entail, but the ability for Admins to move threads to the more appropriate board (perhaps with a note in the thread's original place that the thread has been moved) might help encourage use of the topic specific boards. Edited to add: ah just saw that the issue was addressed while I was dithering about with this post. Cool. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

"I got cut off and keep aking to register, which is what I thought I did when I spent my money on your service. So I registered." Buying a subscription to WC or OD(if that's what you did) doesn't automatically register you on the WC site. That you have to do for yourself, using the same email address and info as for the WC or OD subscription. See GM's link above for cross referencing accounts for those who purchased WC and/or Stardock apps, subscriptions. Also, as mentioned, sometimes p

In addition to ObjectDock, logonstudio, bootskins and cursorxp are free. (There's a payware version of cursorxp that has more options). WindowBlinds is shareware but the free version lacks the full functionality of the enhanced registered WindowBlinds. I haven't tried the shareware versions of other Object Desktop apps so don't know what their limitations are, either timewise and/or in functionality. Sysmetrix (not a Stardock app) is still freeware I believe. Rainlendar (calendar app)

This doesn't appear to be a personal claims case where the plaintiff asks for damages because the hot coffee you sold him was hot and he spilled it on himself. TGT apparently is asking the court for a declaration, a legal decision, that exempts them from being held liable for copyright infringement by Stardock or, presumably, another court. As WOM said, those sorts of things are usually heard by a judge not a jury. Yes Jafo, I'd imagine this is the kind of case which in some places wou

Well HG, the suit as described here would appear to be a strike against copyright or what constitutes protected works/products and the ability of copyright holders to hold others legally accountable for violations and infringements. So it's not just about FB, the issue is larger than that. Or could be. And of course it does appear that TGT is suing as a preemptive strike against FB and SD suing them. But unless the law is quite different in Louisiana FB can file a counter suit to their

Crazy Travis: You'd have to ask TGT Soft why they're doing what they're doing and how they figure it makes sense and is a smart thing to do. On the surface it appears they may have more to lose from such an action than gain. As a preemptive strike against SD taking legal action it would seem ineffective; this doesn't preclude SD from taking action or FB from filing a counter suit. Additionally, since the issue in question is a currently a beta product in development if I understand correctly, an

You have to use the sysmetrix program. There should be a link on the page to the program and info about it near the top of the sysmetrix library where you downloaded the skin from.

"Asses?" That's not exactly a manner of address that will make yourself popular here. In case you missed it there recently were discussions and a poll regarding the potential adding of new libraries here. Given the site owner's previous statements regarding the kinds of apps the site should have (in his view and his view does count) in terms of use, value added to the site plus the f

Re: conversion of msstyles to WB, StyleXP doesn't have proprietary rights to the msstyles file; MS does. And further, WB doesn't incorporate MS' proprietary file to skin the XP OS like StyleXP does. So it's not as if with the conversion SD is "taking" anything from StyleXP: they didn't create msstyles, SD doesn't use the hack in order to skin and thus StyleXP doesn't have any proprietary rights for SD to infringe. Also, one doesn't need StyleXP to use msstyles, the free hack is widely a

At one time I believe it was suggested that mods close SD/WC app help related threads with directions to post in the WC Help messageboard. Ditto for skinning questions to the Skinning board. That would help a bit perhaps if implemented.

It would be best and most helpful if you could email a mod here with specific info regarding the ones you've identified here and the corresponding boot screens at themexp.org. You can find the mods' email addresses if you click on the link to the "About" page which appears on the left hand side of the WC page. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered b
