...I averaged 28kbps...

I had a small issue relating to the AI that I just wished to bring up. An AI in a neighboring planet apparently wanted to explore the planets beyond the bottleneck created by my planet, so he would send scout frigates to explore those planets. The problem with this is that I had built defenses right at the jump point were his scouts would appear and then jump away from. His ships never made it through, so he sent a constant stream of them trying to get past. It cost him a pretty penny
Well I just played a 2 hour 36 minute game (didn't quite finish because its bed time.) For me the game was quite stable, not a single glitch occurred that I could notice. The reason I'm posting is that I thought you might be interested in my setup. Athlon 64 3400+ 1.25 Gb Ram Ati Mobility Radeon 9600 64mb Windows Xp Sp 2 My graphics card is actually BELOW the minimum specs as Yarlen has told me, but the game played wonderfully with almost no slow downs. 1
Downloading with around 2500 KB/s a sec Damn i love my 22 mbit connection. Wow. My school's connection is downloading it at about 50kbs now that its settled down... It's all the other people who share the connection downloading pirated movies! I'm sure of it.
Within a week from today. Yarlen said Tuesday would be pushing it, but he'd see.
Thanks for the quick reply. Meh.... Stardock crashed and now the download is restarting, from the beginning.
Any idea why my download is averaging 100kbps when the Dsl here is rated for 768kbps downloads? And my Ethernet connection is rated at 100mbps? Just everyone else downloading at the same time? Though they're reporting much faster downloads...
My connection is going from 58kbps to 188kbps...
Rofl I wish they had...
I...think I'm downloading it. I found Sins of a Solar Empire in the demo section. Is that the right one?
I'm waiting...
Be patient gang, preorders are still churning through, so it may take some time. I know I should be patient but I'm just sitting here refreshing my email every ten seconds instead...
Schem was the one infatuated with Epicness...
I expect it will be epic, given the perception of distance created by the ten minute travel times and the size of the solar systems. Now if only my email would arrive...
I haven't gotten the email yet... I'm spamming the email server with requests for "Check Mail"
Playing the game on an obsolete 64mb graphics card is a very different experience from the screen shots... But still fun enough!
Well given our defense system's success rate I wouldn't worry to much Zaamon. You could tell them ahead of time and they'd still screw it up... BETA this afternoon Wooo!
So does anyone else here have this game? It's interesting how much promise there is in this game, and how it has changed from the versions presented back in 2004. I like the game (not so much the scary parts) but I think it will be vastly improved when the modding tools are released and the features that were cut (sleeping, vehicles) are fixed. The code and textures for the vehicles and sleeping are largely still there so once the tools are provided their should be a great am
oh boy, i have to remember to log in with the right account Aha! So the ninjas are all one and the same!
Nah I'd imagine more of a nuisance than actual wall. They'd be time consuming but unless you were at an absolute technological disadvantage I don't see how they could be indestructible. It would be nice to have techs to upgrade the mine's abilities...
They just took artistic license with the background and made it LOOK like a galaxy. They've said that if we really don't like it, we can figure out ourselves how to change it once the game is released.
Well, the key word there is NEARLY. My comp is so slow and old it can't handle dynamic lighting, so its actually easier to see them coming. This summer I will upgrade in time for SOASE! To a new comp with that newfangled ATI R600 card whenever they get around to releasing it...
So...whose time table will dictate the release then?
12:01 AM tomorrow perhaps? I'll stay up for it!
