I've gotten a fair amount of them recently. The most notable one being the Jagged Knife event in my last game. I was in a gripping war (both sides equally matched) and the Jagged Knife ended up appearing and the planets they took just happened to be in a row along my outter border (because of where the other civs were) so since I had my fleets already on the border I ended up getting 4 planets basically for free. They also took over the biggest manufacturing planet of my rival which kicked th
Sir Arfs a Lot
There is an economic penalty if you have 20,000bc in your bank. Spend the extra bc to bring your bank account below 20K at the end of every turn. That's great to know. And would explain away some freaky econ things that have happened to me in the past.
With regards question 7, the ship assist weapons/defenses that add bonuses to your ships (and can only be built on military bases) are the ones that have a picture of a ship beside them when selecting which one to build. The other weapons/defenses that can be built on starbases have a picture of a missile, or laser, or shield, etc. and those are specific weapons equipped on the starbase (they do not help other ships near the starbase).
FTL travel considered in the movies is ussually a literal boost to very fast speeds. Actual theoretical thoughts on it usually involve the folding of space/time in such a way to stay w/in the laws of physics. To an outside observer however it appears as if they've breached the laws of physics. I though I already covered that in my post. But th
By comparing KOTOR and GC2 I meant that you can have ALIEN language-not english so you always have speech no matter how much dialog you have because you can't understand the speech itself!!! In other words specific alien language is in a loop. That would be an okay feature for most races. However, as previously mentioned there would be a prob
First of all, Faster-Than-Light travel is likely impossible, according to Einstein. Therefore all our nifty space movies, shows and games are a moot point. Let's hope ol' Albert was in error! If you look into the theories behind so called 'faster than light travel' in almost all the nifty space movies, you'll notice that they don't actually tra
They don't produce any influence (which is odd since they seem to build more influence starbases than anything else) so you can't flip them. You can ally with them, destroy them, or watch someone else destroy them. That's about all.
In order to counter this, I usually send my fleets with 2 or 3 extra ships (that won't fit in the fleet). Then, when one ship in the fleet gets damaged enough to be killed in the next encounter, I swap it out for one of the extras.
One more......What is the best/easierst way to win as a new player? The easiest way to win as a new player would be a political victory (if you are good/neutral) because if you research the government techs until alliances, don't attack any other good/neutral civs, and set your trade routes with them, then they should all become friendly
If you trade techs you can usually get virtually all their techs for your most pointless and useless one. Other than techs, I can't think of any reason you'd want to spy on them.
I don't think the overall gameplay would be improved all that much by having a 3D map. If they introduce tactical battles, however, then a 3D battle area is a MUST. But that is only for battles, not for general gameplay.
If a planet has a Fleet Manager the combat is shown in combat viewer, even if defender is only one ship. Kinda stupid yes There have been many times when that has scared me. By that I mean looking at a planet and seeing only one defender so attack it with a fleet of new ships to gain some experience only for the game to load up the fleet batt
Well, there is always the UP vote that comes up if a civ exploits a minor civ too much. I guess the AI doesn't actively defend the minors, but sometimes they have a chance to passivly do so through the resolution.
It might be worth trying to set up all of your trade routes between your highest population planet and an allied minor, then protecting the minor from other factions and selling them farm and planet improvement techs to boost their population. That way, you're trading with an ally that you know will never turn on you. That is an excellent idea
can this be fixed for metaverse games though or are we hooped? Unless Stardock fixes it in a patch then it can't be changed for a metaverse game. So, if it is a bug and Stardock fixes it then we are not 'hooped' and if it isn't a bug, and that's how it's supposed to be, then we're 'hooped'.
I usually conquer the minor races early in the game. After trading them peanuts for all of their tech and money that is. Exploiting squirrels is so much fun.
I like to think of it as if all my little researchers are greedy and wanted to get extra funding for doing nothing, so they just use the research they just discovered to trick me into funding the next research. That way instead of a bug in the game, I can think of it as greedy population and it doesn't seem as bad.
So it's not very useful, especially on larger maps. Unless you send all your freighters out from the same planet (or at least your most productive ones). That way your highest earning freighters are protected.
If the Yor or Dregnin are not present then I find the Torians do great because they have the time needed to get ahead in research before they are attacked.
I had built the privateer. The only thing was that another race had also built the privateer. Isn't the privateer a galactic achievement that only one race can build?
I agree. It'd be better if the Customs just got no bonuses and started with 13 points instead of ten. Of course, it'd also be better if all the races were brought up to the usefulness of the Drath and Yor, but meh. Or, before you start using your points, you can select your 2 'custom race bonuses' which would then act like the +25 soldiering a
What can I say? I aim to please.
Wow! That is a great idea! You thought of it before me. I'll have to try it. I'm just about to go conquer a terran pq18 full of economic buildings. Could work wonders there!
oh yeah and damn drengins! *fist shake* I like the Dregnin: Crushing them mercilessly is so satisfying! No offence to teaster.
I just read through the full list of changes and ignored the generic bug fixes and such. As for the paragraphs, sometimes you have to input the html code for a new paragraph and sometimes you don't... And to make it even worse, paragraphing hasn't been working for me today no matter how I make my post.
