The computer game - Master of Orion 2 - was the best space game ever ... Until GalCiv2 ... which is NOW the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I have NOT tried this yet. If you have a powerful fleet (including transports)in route to an neutral AI planet (no war, YET)and attempt a "trade" for that planet ... do they bite ????
Well, the Dreng still dominate, more ships, more planets etc... And I have seen the minors build fleets an then just sit there doing nothing ... But these guys are out for blood (the Scotts) and I hope they continue with this aggressive action ...
There have been posts about how the minor AI is good, bad or ugly. In a new game I am playing the usually lame Scotties have gone WILD. I am Alt-terrans and the Dreng have been the #1 civ, crushing the Terrans and torins and I joined the fight to help my Terran ally. I attacked the Dreng constuctors, freighters and lone ships...trying to help out, BUT this MINOR race has attacked the the Dreng head on. They have taken 2 Dreng worlds and now seem to have the best fleets in the galaxy. I just
Actually in the US we have a surplus supply of both gasoline and home heating oil, so prices should remain stable or even go down further in the next few weeks ... after that , well that's what futures speculators are for.
I think the slinky joke was even better...hehehehe Can't wait to tell my wife that one. Thanks.
My take on the sensors/lifesupport is that they are so small and cheap that there is no reason not to add them. It seems like after I design a ship and add all the weapons and defenses I want that there is a little space remaining where these mods just fit perfectly. It seems like they "belong" there... just my 2 bc worth.
An "off color" joke is one which might be considered not suitable for young audiences.
Maybe should have been moved to "Off Color"
The location of the minor races planets is random, like those of the AI races. All the locations are placed at the start of the game.
I don't think the IAF has ever had any F117's ...???
@The_Regicide (Reply#53) ????????????????
"if for no other reason than to deny it to an AI race" YES !!! Love the way you think Rolend ...hehehehe
When the IAF destroyed the Iraq nuclear plant the F16's carried the bombs and the F15's flew air cover.
The Torian remind me of a green version of that creepy, bike-riding, "phone home" alien...
Minor Race Strat Guide If you are GOOD, trade with them, give them techs, protect them from bully races. If Neutral, trade with them and "spy" on them using the info from the diplo and planets screens, plus clicking on their ships to check out weapons/defenses. If EVIL, invade them early and often (they have good PQ worlds) and seize all their resource starbases (they are good at grabbing them early game).
Since the AI uses the Auto-Survey and I am a micro-manager type, I feel this is an advantage I gain over the other civs ... but I could just be deluding myself. But it is also a lot of fun, I love the anomally rush.
I locate anomalies by zooming the mini-map all the way out to the icon only display mode. Then they are very easy to spot.
As a GOOD race I will use the Liberesio plan, but on that sweet PQ26, Eden-like world, I will still use a mass transport attack until I win strat.
So now I do not fill the 1 mod ship with troops, just enough soldiers to inflict some casulties to the defending army. But the best number of troops for the job depends on the enemy's pop and soldier rating too... It is not always perfect... That is why when I attack as an EVIL race I just use the Mass Driver pulverize strat, (even early game)
Yes, the Liberesio strat will work. At first I built 2 types of transports, one with 1 troop mod and another with 2 mods. I built hem to be visually distinct and attacked with a 1 + 2 punch ... Until my soldering tech got to high and the mass driver assault with 1 troop mod won !!! Opps, planet Devestated !!!
Sorry Agashak, what I ment is a Mars type planet will acually lose money because the maintenance cost exceed the income generated. A little too much rant and not enough facts, my fault.
Well, the starport on Mars would take so long to build a colonyship the entire galaxy would already be settled. As for BUY a colonyship, nah, waste of bc's. However, I do build starports on other crappy planets in my empire to make "defender" type ships to block any early invasions. Then build empty hulls with these crappy planets and upgrade them later.
I do this with my daughter (She is ten). I set up the game and let her do the first few months worth of turns. Then I take a long turn to check out how she is doing. I maybe fix or fiddle with her empire and then let her do some more turns. She is good, just not that interested so she is pressing the turn button alot. She has some fun despite herself and it can really spice up my game...
Unused manufacturing do not go to another planet but back into your bank account.
