I'm sure everyone has heard the news about the latest expansion. Read link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=160823&p=1#1289009"]here[/link] if you have not. ________________ Anyhow, with all the talk about unique racial techs, I figured, why not use a similiar system that is being used for abilities? As most of you are aware, different races start with different inherent abilities, each of which can be further enhanced by spending ability points on them, or, if you so choose

That said, I can remember these right now. Doh! How could I forget about ethnical events? Ethnical events needlessly punish good players for playing as good. Not every ethnical decision needs to favour evil. There can be ones that benefit good. Example: Enviromental Cataclysm It has recently been determined that current economic policies on [insert planet name] are having a harmful effect on the enviroment. Majo

This expansion is news to me. I only checked my e-mail about an hour ago. Normally I would be providing a list of improvements this game needs for an expansion, but I've been too busy with the Sins beta to remember them all off-hand. That said, I can remember these right now. -Starbase fleets: Allow ships to join in fleet to protect starbases. I can't use fleets of ships to defend my starbases effectively without them waking up because a hostile ship passes by. I'm going to tel

(This post was also posted on the GalCiv2 website, so I only need a reply at one of them) I have been thinking about pre-ordering sins for a while so I could get into beta. As I recalled reading, its cheaper to pre-order by tokens, than to simply pay for it directly. However, I don't know if I would be able to get game disks if order by tokens. So, I'm asking, if I pre-order by tokens, is there a way to get game disks?

I want the old 2D games back. 3D is so overrated these days. Anyone here play Super Metroid or Super Mario on the SNES? Best games of all time if you ask me, especially Super Metroid. 2D games with 16 bit graphics. Good times. Good time. I still have Super Metroid, Super Mario (broken), Breath of Fire (I & II), Final Fantasy III, and Chrono Trigger (its sequel was junk). Fortunatly, 2D games are not dead... yet. There was Metroid Fusio

I've never had to deal with the Korath before. Are they the only ones who get spore ships? I thought they were until i noticed that there is a template for a terran spore ship. I guess you can trade the tech from them? No you can't, but you can create a custom race that uses terran ship style, and have the super exterminator super ability. So if you are the Korath and you use a spore ship, do you then need to send a co

most of the time by the 2nd year they have managed to pay about 6 races to war on me and everyone else. Excellent... then its working as it should. super manipulator needs a bit of a nerf Look, either learn to live with, or don't play with them. I remember reading something on another website where it said something like... by Paper Rock is fine, nerf Scissors. In some gam

Ascension.. do you think it is possible? You mean like in stargate? Right now? Probally not, because it would imply that we have some innate ability that, for some strange reason, has yet to be activated. If we did have it, why hasn't it been activated, unless someone who already ascended is preventing us from ascending. Although we probally lack the ability to ascend naturally, most of us will probally live long enough to become cyborgs (or som

Although I favour the idea of improving the good alignment (maybe because I play good), it does seem to a bit over powered. The other alignments seem a bit overpowered as well. I need a little bit of time to think about the bonuses.

It is fine to disagree with me. Just be careful you don't insult me. No ill-will was intended with any of posts, so sorry if I somehow insulted you. I sometimes can come across as a bit rude, but thats ussually either a mistake on my part, or a result of not being able to read a person's body language (you can't see another person's body language given the nature of this form of communication). However, I much rather be rude and say something th

Here we go again.... Agreed... It would appear that we caught a huge catch of evangelists. Its very difficult to have a discussion with those who are certain that they are right. There is a significant difference between "I think something is so because..." and "I'm right, and you're wrong if you disagree...". The difference being that one is willing to discuse a subject, and the other is not.

Jesus quoted the psalms when he said in John 10:34 1 Corintians 139-12 Has God put in limits to our learning. If I recall the beliefs of my religion correctly, man placed those limits on himself. The idea is that all have sinned, and that it is not possible to overcome this in this world by our own

Terror stars don't work because the devs haven't finished it. I have not been able to mod anything into the game that had not yet existed before in some form the attempt. Need a new planetary structure that provides industry points, and a population growth bonus. Great we have factories and a fertility accelerator. Need a new starbase module that provides additional hit points, sorry the devs haven't made that yet, or else we would have them. (Oddly, there are repair bay module

So man will become Gods?, know all that it is possible to know, Be omnipotent, eventually? If the conditions are right, yes. We would effectively become gods. Atleast thats what I believe. After all, knowledge is power. I say effectively, because you would need to know what a "god" is to be certain. Is this true or is God playing a practical joke? Possibly. Humanity is seriously flawed spec

...and another was Terror Star, which interested me because they were never used in the game. In case you don't know, Terror Stars are from GalCiv 1. They are supposed to be a super starbase that could move 1 parsec per turn, and blow up planets,... or so I've read. I have yet to play GalCiv 1.

Evil weapons? I never use them. I consider them a waste. There might be the short window of opportunity where they're the best weapons to be using, but I consider that opportunity too short to bother. Plus you don't have a whole lot to show for it once you get something better. The good defense modules also have this problem, but the techs required to unlock them have other benefits. You can get a total of +5% hit points, and +15% defense for researching these techs. If you add in the s

there intire(spelling?) their entire Your welcome for the spelling check, spartan2209. Another thing I thought, is that with the Yor's +100 Loyalty, does that mean they can never be infuenced to revolt? I play the Yor frequently myself, so I know that a +100 loyalty will not prevent planets from culture flipping. From my experience, it just makes your planets only about as half as likely flip in

That gives me an idea... perhaps each race can have certain benefits if you persue that races natural alignment,,, then if you deviate from a races natural alignment, then will you get morale and loyalty penalties. Sound good? Not a bad idea. The effort to change, ethnically, an evil species such as the Drengin to something like the Altarians would be immense. There of course would be both supporters and resistors for any drastic changes. -----

I've seen the AI use the other 3, but I've never seen them use Military or Influence very well. I'm not sure about Economic since I rarely use them myself. They are very bad when it comes to influence starbases. I've seen them deploy one or two in my territory, but never upgrade them. Then they get a negative relationship factor of "-close borders" with me, just because of their incompentence. If you are going to use influence starbases, install the influence modules so they do somethin

... choosing Evil when you are Good (but really, who picks Good?) *raises hand* Random events stop as soon as you choose a morality. This alone often makes me wait a long time before I research Xeno ethics. I tend to research Xeno Ethics asap, if for no other reason than to stop getting random events. I almost always play as good. Unfortunately, almost all random events punish good for making the 'good'

If you are having trouble with this game, try picking an easy civ and setup. I recommend Altarians because they get bonuses to economics, morale, and research. As for abilities, max out economics and morale, and put the rest into population growth. This will provide you with a strong, fast growing economy. As for galaxy setup, select tiny map for quick games, lots of habital planets, and fast research. Should make for an easier game. As for general strategy, d

Super Necromancers seems WAY overpowered though. Perhaps. The Korath get spore ships that automatically conquor planets, so free troops will most likely be weaker since there are no garentees of victory. Also, its not like the zombies will do much without a population to supervise them, so a recently conquored should get a starting population of 1 mil like the Korath, thus making them easily re-conquored... for a time. Perhaps they should get a
