Whats the thing about the tiny hulls?I don't understand how they are so good. Its how the combat system in Dread Lords works. No matter how much fire power your ship has, it can never destroy more than 1 ship per turn. 10, 100, 1000, 10000 attack, it still can only kill one ship per turn. Please note: the combat system is different in Dark Avatar expansion.

-A Dreadlord mega-event that doesn't suck? Seriously, they can be taken out in a single turn using a single transport, because they have no ships to defend themselves. -Every race recieves a new super ability (randomly determined). You may wish to develop new super abilities for this one. -Some unknown force manages to construct a Terror-star, and sends it around to destroy planets, starting with the largest civ. This super starbase should be well fortified so nothing short of

With the new starbase module, I made it my task to analyze it to see if it works right. For the record, it works, but there are a few minor bugs, all of which involve the user interface. The first image is a fully upgraded military starbase. There are two bugs shown in this image. 1) I repaired the starbase twice, and it recorded the total repair amount (Repair Starbase: +40). I don't think it needs to record that. 2) It says (Installed Modules: 62/63). The 63rd module should be

+ FIX: Found a solution for the graphical glitches on AMD machines. Good, hopefully I don't need to start calling some of my ships whiskers, bushy stache, cactus, pin coushin, etc... If anyone else experiences low frame rate with this build, let us know. I haven't tried the latest beta yet, so I wouldn't know if I'm having any graphics problems with it. However, I have been focusing on the new "starbas

If I recall correctly, GalCiv 2 should run even on windows 98. If you are willing to deal with windows again you might be able to test if the free demo works with whatever version of windows you have. Downloads Its unlikely that stardock will be able to support Linux any time soon. They're a still a small company at this time, fixing crashes on windows and providing new content takes up a lot of resources, let alone what it t

AFAIK you can turn of the JIT debugger in VS. How do you turn it off? Re 1: I suppose that clears up a few things. I've figured out how to make a blank project with Dev-C++, so I should be able to learn about them just fine now. Re 2: I would not start in C++. I guess I've should of mentioned that I also know Python. I'm trying to learn C++ because

Let me get this problem off my chest. My biggest problem has been the compiler. I've gone through many and found problems with most of them. ________________ Borland C++ builderX: It can't seem to compile individual files, instead it seems to want them in a project, and even then, it seems to compile the wrong one. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005: I'm not sure how to use it. It seems to use also use projects, and I've been able to follow its instructions to compile the "Mech c

Keep a positive attitude and you'll be fine. I do tend to keep a positive attitude. Unfortunately, there are days when something doesn't work after reading a tutorial, or I'm told to do something that wasn't previously explained. Oh god, PLEASE, take that advice. I had to 'add' functionality to an already existing application lately, and it was clear that the original coder had just c&p'ed 75% of the code without thin

As for Eve specifically, I downloaded it for the free trial recently. I was greatly put off by the fact that after 3 hours, I still wasnt through the tutorial. Yeah... a lot of players who have tried the tutorial say "You know, **** this!" before quiting the game, and never touch it again. After I played the tutorial, I thought "Wow this game has depth and complexity.". What put me off was the fees, players who act like jerks, and supposed cheating

Yeah... I've figured that part out. Thanks anyhow. I was hoping that someone would provide some details for the personal projects step. Hmm... you wouldn't happen to have any advice for deciding on personal projects? I'm having something of a programmers block and my only new idea, at this time, of creating an internet browser seems to be a bit much...

I might not be the first to eat this stuff, out of concern for potential health risks. But its stuff that I would be fine with eating at some point. With the mad cow and bird flue, it might be a good ideal to have something synthetic available. Plus I heard that the world has enough cows that the collective methane produced creates a significant problem for climate change. I'm not sure about the exact details, or even if its true. ________________ Anyhow, any one up for bea

I see that some people were talking about EVE since I was away. Anyhow, I do have some questions now: 1) Game Cards: I heard about that you could buy game cards using in-game money, and would be ok with CCP. Does it actually work? If so, how would one go about taking advantage of it? 2) Invention: The trial account I played didn't provide me with enough time to experiment with invention. Also, any information relating to invention is hard to come by. How does i

Hmm... -Hardened sheilds -Leaping units -Units so big that they can walk over cliffs -Exploding zerglings (after mutating) -Weapon overloading -Motherships -etc... The game play looks like its going to be interesting. Its worth keeping an eye on. My only concern at this time is, are they going to nerf the Terran Battlecruiser? The Battlecruiser is the closest thing to an ultimate unit in Starcraft. Now they have developed (in the demo, not yet final)

Don't feel so bad. I'm sure that there will be 5 or more people who will look at this post and say "OMG, there were icons for the minimap that I could play with?". Besides, there are probally other people who are too shy to ask your question. They're probally afraid of feeling stupid. ________________ Its nothing to lose your head over... (I'm assuming thats what happened to your personal icon)

Yes, the game does need a good encyclopedia. Something like what Civ 3 had would do quite nicely. Unfortunately, the game is so good that most players already have figured most of this stuff out simply by playing the game so much. I'm afraid that if you don't know something, it would be best to either experiment, or ask questions on this forums.

OMFG !! (no offense) Finnally, 10 years after. Man this and Fallout3 have pretty much made my day. I thought that it would make a few people's day. Sorry if it didn't make yours geminisama, or anyone else's. I understand that the graphics would not be on par with other genres but when I look at the artwork it looks... ugly. Perhaps it is too early to judge but this wa
