Nope. The devs tried to make something more complex during the early days before GalCiv 2 was released, but it turned out to be too complicated to be fun. They later decided upon the current, and somewhat confusing system now in use.

GalCiv 2 tech tree wasn't designed to handle multiple prerequisites, so I don't think you can get this to work very well. It's still 100% valid XML, and the game processes it correctly, just as I say, it won't graphically be represented. So you somehow got it to work?

Sorry, double post. Since I'm editing the double anyhow. You can see that the Altarians can research quicker, and has the money to support a lot more research centers, and factories than you can. This allows them to research powerful techs quicker, and to afford to support more factories so they can build ships quicker. I just don't know how the AI is getting such big powerfull ships so quickly; because I sure can't This is one

I just don't know how the AI is getting such big powerfull ships so quickly; because I sure can't I did some research to try to help another player, but what I found can be a little surprising. The Altarians can get an overwhelming bonus to economics, research, morale. If they really tried, they can start the game with the following bonuses: -Economics 80% (With ferderalist party) -Research 45% -Morale 35% Add in bonuses fr

I'm no expert on linux (yet), but I found this after a quick google. WWW Link It says that you should be able to run linux on top of, or inside of window, but the front page isn't very specific on the details. Edit: I did some checking. You are supposed to be able to run this thing as though it was another windows program.

and I am barely breaking 125 research on a world with the same population. Population has nothing to do with research. Well not directly. Population pays taxes, when then can be turned into research points by labs. When I reach advanced I take a look at Alteria and see that their research is over 700! Altarians have by default 25% research bonus, I quickly playe

That button that is circled is a method to assign a rally point to a planet. The planet itself will not move, but any ship built on that planet will be assigned to that rally point. If you have the game, you should find a "tutorial" button on the same screen that has the "new game", and "campain" buttons. You should find one talking about rally points. Double click on it, and watch. ________________ I'm surprised that people still post here.

I'm more interested in alternate governments, that might exist along side democratic forms of government. They could be selected instead of Democracy. Other types of governments have existed in this world in the past: Communism, Theology, Plutocracy, etc. It would be interesting to have these as alternate choices to more Democratic forms of government. Not every space faring race was peaceful when the Terran Alliance gave Hyperdrive to the galaxy. So why should every race be governed b

There is a gold edition demo being made. It hasn't been released yet, but when it does, you should be able to use it to test how your machine performs. You can find it in the download section, here: WWW Link I get it, I get it. I'm a complete noob, sheesh. You'll learn in time. Don't sweat it. Wikipedia -- Personal

is there help? Nope, you're stuck here. You might as well enjoy your stay (Not that it would be difficult considering the game). Since you are going to be here a while, you might as well start looking for a guide. It gives you something to read while the full version downloads (or installs from CD). ________________ Edit: For me, the game is addicting because the AI is good.

The devs tried to create something more complex during Dread Lords beta. The system they had in mind ended up, in their views, to be too complex to be fun. The system you have now is what they settled on. I'm not sure on the fine details, but you might get an idea of what they were trying to do by looking at this link. WWW Link -Select "Modding GalCiv2's Data" -You should see a list of the var

Here are a few posts I read that I felt I needed to commment on. Post #11 2. Heroes. Or rather, 'characters'. There is little point in adding something like this if it is only along the lines of '+2 ship weapons' - I can just install a bigger gun instead. I mean a model of character development and creation to simulate the range of personalities one gets in an epic space opera, adding voice and personality to key events. I want Londo Molari in my retinue d

I never played any of the MOO series, starcontrol, and many other games. Maybe if stardock offered them on stardock central, I might get a chance to play, and see if the games lived up to the hype I heard about.

Fortify command: I need something that will make my ships stay still, regardless of what happens. The sentry, and guard commands are simply not good enough. Space Fortresses: Starbases aren't strong enough end game to justify installing defensive modules of any kind. I want to build something that would be strong enough to stand the test of time. Space Fortresses would have more hit points, and would have access to modules that starbases wouldn't have.

2. I don't know how many planets is "good enough" so I can stop building/buying the colony ships? I had seven in my last game and I bet that's pretty sad on a huge map. Its difficult to say. I ussually go for complete dominance of sectors as opposed to collecting large number of planets. It prevents me from spreading my forces too thin, and it allows me to better maximize the utility of my starbases. Plus, having a military starbase area of effect coveri

Its the demand. Its always the demand. So long as there is the demand, there will always be those who will be willing to supply. Weather or not, it is from a legal source depends how difficult it is to get something legally. Some people think that they don't have to pay for a product, while others don't want the hassle to go and get it. If you can eliminate the hassle, you can get the service of those who don't like hassle and only have worry about the pirates. ________________ Very few

So you select the "Patrol & Attack" feature and have your ship/fleet run between these stations looking for enemy ships to attack. We already have an Auto-Attack option, what's the difference whether the ship is moving or standing still? The Auto-Attack function, the last I checked has your ship run around trying to attack enemy ship, even running into enemy territory. It does not allow for percise

The Peace keepers are one. Any race that has ships not in their territory becomes the enemy of the peace keepers. Their ships are ussaully quite strong, and very capable at beating their enemies. They function much like pirates, as in having no homeworld. The next is the pirate invasion. Their ships are quite powerful, and tend to show up with overwhelming numbers. They ussually destroy all ships on the map (ignoring minor races), and it often takes a while to clear them out. Some playe
