I have a major bug with Terran Alliance diplomacy occurring with my version of V1.3. I would like to know whether it happens to anyone else, and if so, was it solved in V1.31? (I have not downloaded V1.31 yet.) The bug is this: when first encountered, Terran relations with the AI races are all listed as 'String Not Found'. If the Terrans attack someone, then relations are normally displayed from then on. However, if the Terrans are attacked, then every AI race that still has 'String Not

In my last game, still in V1.3, when I loaded the game after a break, I noticed a planet with the Skull-and-Crossbones, though the display showed only something like Influence 2.36 or so. I've often seen planets show the influence flag inappropriately after loading, I have even seen some flip, but that is the first time I can remember seeing a planet showing it could flip with such a low rating right after loading. I am not quite sure whether this is a new version of the old bug, or I just haven

Almost all of my games have been influence victories, and I have yet to figure out how to predict when a planet will flip. As you noted, Drewbagel423, some planets take forever to flip. Others, it's a turn or two. From what I have read here and on the Wiki site, it's a random chance, and there does not seem to be any built-in time limit.

Personally, I think the sudden appearance of the Vengeance ships is rather silly. A leader gets assassinated, so suddenly there are hundreds or thousands of ships ready to avenge his death everywhere in the galaxy? Giving them a production or soldiering bonus for the duration of the war would make a lot more sense. Plus, as noted already, except for very early in the game, those little Vengeance ships are pretty much useless. Also, I am a diplomat, builder and influencer in this game. F

I'm more or less with Kryo on this. So your economy is fantastic, so what? You win the game by doing something with that economy. You develop good diplomatic relations, or you take over the other economies with influence, or you conquer everyone. You can't win just by sitting back and bragging to the other races about how rich you are.

I don't know where you heard that, Twelvefield, and it certainly isn't true of V1.11 and V1.2. Homeworlds always have higher amounts of influence than other planets, but in my games, if I have influencer starbases by two or more worlds, the homeworld is more likely to flip than a colony. That said, the homeworld is sometimes the last planet to flip.

I hate that Assassination event too. I had one game where it happened to me twice, first the Terrans and then the Altarians. I was strong enough and had enough allies that it proved to be fatal for both of them, but it was more annoying than fun. The game after that, I think it was, it happened to the Arceans. In that case, we were militarily evenly matched, and on opposite sides of the galaxy so that we had trouble even reaching each other. Or we would have, if the Arceans had not gotten nearly

-Is your total influence = the influence of every planet added up, or are there some othet modifiers? (perhaps diplomatic relations?) I believe your total influence is the cumulative influence of every planet. You can modify that, mainly by researching the influence branch on the tech tree, with structures, and by increasing your population

If you look in the debug file, it should say that the game is a Metaverse game. If it isn't, something has gone wrong. I had this bug once myself, but I can't help in figuring out what causes it. As far as I know, it is just random.

I'm with LoneWolf on the AI's bad planet management. I've seen a lot of planets through high espionage. On some the AI does a great job. On some other planets of the same race, there are no factories, even when they have the 300% manufacturing bonus tile (or tiles). It should be a basic thing for all planets: you have to build at least one factory before you build other stuff. That's what factories are for, after all: to get stuff built without it taking half a game year, or so. As for

From what I have observed, the difference is in whether you chose Evil through Xeno Ethics or not. If you were rated Demonic while playing the game, but did not choose an alignment, then the game would have a listing of Very Evil on the Metaverse. If you chose the Evil alignment, then it shows Pond Scum on the Metaverse. edited slightly for clarity

I can't really contribute much to this thread, but I would note that the description of the Omega Research Centre does say that it increases the research of the planet on which it is built . You can't call something a bug, when it works how it is described as working. On the Restaurant of Eternity, I admit I have not specifically checked in the Stats tab, but I would say it does give a +20% boost to your Influence ability, not just Influence generation on the planet it was built on. <

I'm using V1.2, and if I remember correctly, one of the fixes in this version, and perhaps earlier ones, was that eliminated races would not have events. That fix does not appear to have been entirely successful. In my latest game, I got the announcement for a race changing alignment, for the Korx. The Korx had surrendered and vanished from the game several turns before this event took place.

Since this seems a place to air what you think of the major races as well, I agree with the statement that the Thalans don't do much. In most of my games, they are more like a glorified minor race. In fact, since I am having some performance issues with the V1.2 patch, I'm probably going to stop using them as an opponent. The Iconians do all right in my games, although they tend to be the first target of any evil race they are neighbours with. The good race that I thought was the least interesti

Happy Chemical, there are a few other posts around here that explain the problem. That said, here's the answer anyway. You need to go into your account, click on manage account and then edit characters. Hit the default button for the character you want. Since I am posting here anyway, I have a question: does anyone know how the military ranks are assigned? Is it based purely on the number of games submitted, or do any other factors come into it?

Just thought I would mention that, not only do we know where most of the stars in our galaxy are, we already know about a few planets too. Personally I think the current system is not only realistic but quite enjoyable. Sure, you know where the stars are and how many planets they have, but you don't have a clue where the habitable planets are, and whether you can find and colonise them before the other players. The only change I would make, would be to introduce an option so that you don't know

To throw in my two cents: when races surrender to the computer players, they often talk about who made the best offer. But, it's not a diplomatic option, so that's meaningless. I've always thought that surrender should be a negotiating option.

Have you had your computer crash to the desktop when a planet flips? This seems to be connected to that bug. I would speculate that the computer has established the rally point earlier and continues to use it after the planet flips just as it did before the defection. Of course, the ships cannot enter the planet's orbit anymore, and they get stuck instead.

I think CommanderFutility has gone off on the wrong track here. I don't see anyone here demanding an instant fix. What I think they want is an acknowledgement by Stardock that it is a problem, or an explanation by Stardock of why they do not see it as a problem. Stardock is great on responding and working to solve problems on every other part of the game, I have seen that myself, so it's worth asking: why don't Stardock say anything at all about the Metaverse? And as for the attitude that we sho

Elader, you are seeing a bug that has been around for at least a month. As far as I know, only the Altarian favourite race is given the wrong medal. Then again, I've only had two, and I might have missed complaints about other medals going wrong. If you want to see all the medals, there is a page somewhere in the Metaverse called 'legend', which has a picture of them. Most of them should be self-explanatory: games submitted, games won, alignment, favourite race (which should work if you play eno

Perhaps I should have posted about this earlier. When a planet defects, you get the lot: all the population, whatever they have built, undamaged. You don't have to reduce your own population through invasion, you don't have to damage anything through invasion tactics -- and you don't have to worry about the AI re-invading, unless you do something else that provokes them into war. My last game was a Military Conquest victory, but I won almost entirely through getting planets to defect (and finall

Thanks Syrrus. So, in order to get the medal indicating which level I actually play at, I have to play above it. And, the more games you play, the more penalised you are in your rank. Geez, what a system! I'm starting to see why so many people complain about it.

Syrrus K, how is the difficulty medal calculated? I have been playing on Challenging for quite some time now, and I have been wondering when the medal was going to be upgraded from the Normal one. Norad, what do you mean when you say you can build over Starports? Do you mean that you will still be able to build ships, even though the Starport has been replaced?
