Military technology = superpower Economy ≠ superpower -That's why even with the economic conditions right now in America which is dire, it dosn't mean it will not remain the superpower. Also, the question is if it will always remain the superpower which is actually impossible for it to happen. Look at the Roman empire which was in power for cen
Well, everyone's entitled to an opinion, but none of us are entitled to being right--that call comes from hard data and/or clear consensus. IMO, "revamped" vs. "radical change" is a major distinction. 2.0 is a free update to mark the close of active development of GCII. I never got the impression that we should be expecting a whole new game, or even a major share of what might come in a fee-funded expansion. I'm sorry that you g
When the GalCiv III area gets up, we're going to have a laundry list of insane suggestions for the SD team to pick through
Unfortunetly, I doubt any of our espionage ideas that I posted even months ago would ever make it to GalcivIII if there ever is one. I worked long and hard for it to come up with those ideas and they even told us to come up with ideas for espionage in 2.0 and ended up with this so called <span styl
We were promised a radical change
I hate to play with words either but really, in my opinion the word revamped vs radical for marketing purposes is not really a major difference. But if they wanted an honest marketing, I would of used the word <span style="text-decoration:
Not only that Iceciro, but I have yet to see a major strategy change offered by players with this improvement and I will also play test it when it comes out. But bringing back the old system and combining it with the new dosn't offer a major strategy change besides maybe cost and bonuses. I think creatively, people would of been much happier if they added features like inciting riots and exposing government failures and actually sabotaging either economy/diplomacy for a short period of time r
No, I always said the latest system dosn't even come close to a revamped espionage system as they have been working on it a little over than a year now.. With all your anwsers to me, I think you just proved it. Lets be realistic ...
Tell me this, is having 1 spy without getting nulified theoretically has the same effet in espionage advancement in terms of less time reaching a level as having 10 spies with the old system ? And lets say with this latest system , I want to hurt their diplomacy and moral? is there a way to do that with spies and does it really have an effect? I n
I'm trying to find out some strategies, at least everytime I used espionage not only I placed my spies on the closest race but their home planet which usually had the most bonuses? Their home planet which I haven't even explored on the starmap and yet was able to put spies on them and most people put spies on planets which are class 10 and up. Because lets face it, thats where the meat and patatoe is regarding bonuses to shut down. So now, people are going to wait until they reached adv
Yes but how many counter-espionage centers are you going to build? theres always going to be that one planet without the counter-espionage center and that were your enemy will be putting his spies and thats where there goign to be able to steal tech from you?
It would of been nice at least when the time came to steal a tech, we actually had a selection of choice on which tech to steal? It would add more strategy to it? *This is just one example of why I haven't noticed much change in this new system of espionage???? Other examples ... As soon as we reached advanced level of espionage we could have a choice on either ... 1) sabotaging d
The new thing appears to be a way to use spy units to achieve passive intelligence gathering. That is not at all the same as DL, which just had the slider you could set and ignore. The end result, as I understand it, will be a fusion of the two modes, not an either/or. It is still based on spy units, but now there's a new "empire-wide" assignment slot that will increase your intel level against a civ without harming them. [/quot

After reading in this thread, I'm thinking is this official and final change regarding espionage? And so, if you think about it, it's really not a change is it? All they did is gave us the option of spying the "old" way which we had before or the "new" way by placing spies on tiles? Oh and a few bonuses ..... but really, why did they keep this so secret and why did i work so hard to give them ideas that will have significant changes and makes espionage really interesting?! Am I missing someth
I know, but no time to be nice folks. Eventually this game will feel repetitive and most people have already stopped playing and waiting for GALCIVIII. If I were them I would just give all the details at once instead of "part 1,2,3,4,5 etc... I'm expecting alot from the esionage system, afterall this update was suppose to be focused on major espionage tweaks and new features added to espionage? I was never interested in part 1 lol .... It's becoming hard for me to be continuing to play this g
For crying out loud wheres the info on the espionage? This update is suppose to be focused on espionage and all we get is tech brokering? Listen folks and I'm speaking for most GALCIVII players, we will stop playing this game sooner or later if we don't get a good espionage system, I certainly haven't playes this game ever since I first heard of 2.0 that was going to make a huge change to espionage. I think folks here are being too nice! This 2.0 update should give us a totally revamped espio
However, the logic used for the costing is just mind boggling. There's no way anyone's economy grows at the rate needed to recruit new agents. It's not just the way the cost increases though; they're just too damn expensive overall. Most of the time, I am spending more money on esionage to recruit one agent every 20 turns, then my one agent is costing the player when he's active, and even then he's usually nullified after 4 or 5 turns. They need to be cheaper. It should just be a lower, fla
Hopefully they will fix some of the problems you mentioned in version 2.0, I hear theres going to be a significant enhancement to espionage.
I forgot the criteria on changing and setting another planet as homeworld.
So basically I can't allocate money to train "super spies" and place them on a planet like the normal spies do? So it's my understanding that it's just a building with the research bonus like any other building that gives bonus.
