Master Lame wrote: "it's obvious who those people will be, all you non-Citizen brats " LOL - thanks for the compliment, but I doubt that every Ensign will be elevated to Gamme tester status. When they say a select few, I imagine 4-6 people all in all, to keep the number of exernal communication lines small and managable. /Flemming

Midnight Louie, good idea, although I think it would be wise to wait until the 1.0 is done, as I believe the programmers have enough to worry about as it is right now :-) I'm also told by Brad that they will work a bit more on the forum, once they've freed up some resources(Red and blue ones, I believe, hehe) so perhaps there will be an option to make topics "sticky". /Flemming

Robert, well, I can't say that they did or didn't since I really don't remember anymore :-) All that I know, is that from one turn to the next, 2 thirds of the map was suddenly green, from being approximately 1/3 or even 1/4. that is a very big leap, even if you get 5 percent extra. Most of my outposts where "Swallowed" as well by it. /Flemming

Relax people - it's their game, and it has been stated repeatedly that this day would come :-) As for a select few, I can easily understand this, instead of focusing on 200 people all writing everywhere across the board, they focus on those who have shown the capability to adress the bugs they found with professionalism, precision and speed. When going into final stages of software development, it's time to focus tightly on the problems at hand, and this is best done with a lim

GREAT - that was a bug that was really killing me all the time :-) You know, this whole Betatester-per-pay concept is really working for me, mostly because of course, that you people are doing one hell of job answering posts, emails and probably still get time to code the game once in a while :) Keep up the good work, I know I'm cheering you on! (damn, now no-one will believe I can actually write an unbiased and objective review of the game, hehe) /Flemming Madsen VP

Jack, I built galactic wonders myself, and don't think I've even seen quite this effect myself. Just a though, is overall influence based on how many sectors a race influences? If so, I think we have a self fulfilling loop here, with an alien race being more or less alone in one corner, expanding quickly outward because of lack of planets, thus generating a large empty space behind them. This would then fill with their influence, getting them more sectors, getting them more infl

SO, having gotten the hang of the whole morale thing (I can keep it at about 50-55 most of the time) I've started focusing on influence wars. I build a LOT of starbases with all the influence enhancements I can get. In my latest game, I had a class 31 planet spitting out constructors at 8 turns per ship rather early. Things where looking fine, until I noticed one empire seemed to be spreading it's influence quite a lot. I started adding starbases in the fringes of their influence s

How much leeway will you give us in editing? can we script new events, races, storylines and so forth? hmm, I may be jumping the gun here, but still it would be interesting to know :-) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

I've been having some forum trouble these past few days, posts not showing up after I've posted them, replys as well (Even after having spent 15 minutes on writing them, sigh). Brad mentioned this could be a cookie problem (the same happened on two different computers) and he is probably right, since if you log out and then log in again, it is solved, for now at least. Just a little heads up to be aware of this :-) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

Well, I still think you are wrong there,Master Lame, at least in regards towards this targetgroup. We don't like combat emphasised games. We like to build slowly, research stuff, think it over, spy a bit on the enemy, until we are completely and absolutely sure, that we have the biggest, meanest and most destructive gun in the universe. THEN we like combat ;) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

Hmm, the more I play, the more I worry about some sort of "computer cheat", since occasionally, the computer will suddenly sprout enourmous influence, from one to to another - it's especially easy to see if you use the "influence" overlay button. suddenly, WHAT they are all over the place - strange... /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

Elrikk, I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW, can I tell it please? hehe, loved that scene, it's from "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" of course :-) Urth? Urth? EARTH? Why, that us? hehe - and here I thought we descended from Apes :-) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

Jack, well, not exactly - It seems to me like Galciv will incorporate some kind of in-game story, there are hint's of a richly detailed universe, both in the Manual, the encyclopedia and in-game. Kinda like the 5 x's people are looking for in Moo3, or the attack of the antareans in Moo2. But then again, I could be wrong, and there is no in-game storyline :-) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com

Is the "main" story line missing in this beta? There are some things that point towards a larger picture, such as the likeness to humans of some aliens, and a few events seem to be part of a larger story.

Jack, I knew it as soon as I had posted it, Hitler is a bad example to use in this context. I know that although the general populace "seemed" to go along, there where grumblings. 'nough history lessen :-) As for group assesments, well I think when we talk between races, humans and aliens, well then you CAN talk groups, more or less (there will probably always be dissidents), but the same would apply to "good" empires. Imagine if you where at war with the Drengins, and your scie

Well, that depends on the definition of evil. To take a "Real-life" example, I personally would say Hitler was Evil (notice the capital E), but still an entire nation followed him and did what he wanted. So, it all comes down to, what kind of civilisation you have, evil is probably defined by modern man's standards - "Popular" standards, that is. So, an entire nation "could" be evil, seen by our perspective, but perhaps for them, it's a question of different set of moral codes,

Ted, thanks for the update, about 5... I tried to check out just how many starbases they have, and it seems to don't have THAT many, whereas I early in the game build one from every colony almost every time I could. It doesnt matter if they don't have starbases nearby, but their influence slowly enchroaches everything, even those places I have starbases with "Influence" supplements high up. oh well, it's probably just a matter of them being better than I :-)
