Since I've been trying as a madman to locate a minor race called Calor, I got an idea. Why not put galactic coordinates of the race's homeplanet in the diplomatic info on the race? At least after a while - because right now, I can't for the life of me find that evil race, who has poisoned a planet from level 16 to level 10, and it will happen again, my agents say - I appearently have to stop them somehow, but the darn bastards elude me. So, put the galactic coordinates of home plane

I can name one game where Minimum sys requirements where set waay to low. Wheel of time - if you had minimum system requirements, the game practically wouldn't run, and there couldn't be ANY music at all

Jack, thats a very complex post :-) But basically, what you describe could be the problem. I think the reason it's really difficult to follow, is that it seems like ships on autopilots "Skips" a turn as well, but basically they just wait, until the end of the turn, am I right here? /Flemming

This is ...interesting...here in Denmark where I live, ton's of people have had something like that this weekend, two of my collegueas called in sick today with fever, my daugther and her mother, and several friends all came down with something too - I wonder how fast epedemics really spread??

1) Diplomacy and trading colors. The main text display in the middle of the Diplomacy screen is an indicator of how the alien empire will recive the deal - Green means a certain deal. 2) Influence points in sectors can be seen by pressing the small button in the top right corner of the detailed sector view. This will give you an exact breakdown of influence in the current sector. 3)CTRL-N will give you a new starmap at the start of the game, you don't have to exit to the g

ok - just an idea I wondered if people wanted to jump on - we should make a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for everyone, about the most common questions about Galciv. Here goes the first couple of items I've had trouble with myself...

As far as I can tell, it seems that turning on autopilit now means loss of movement points - at least if you have set a destination that ends in your starship having extra movement points at the end of it's move? Perhaps there should be a key to move all autopilot ships - or am I missing something about the "End of Turn" thing in the options that will help me as well? hmm - someone should compile an unofficial faq for this game. Should we start a thread with this? /Fle

Hmm connecting to Javascouts Tech-tree - do you mean an internet connection to his website? All I think people want is the option to rightclick a research area and get detailed info on the relevant tech :)

Fleshpile, about the research screen - I wholly second that idea - more clickability is cool and usefull. About the diplomacy screen I had the same misgivings when I started out. As for trade, you can tell by the color of the text in the middle window, how acceptable the deal is to the other empire - Green is a sure deal. Pure diplomacy is something I think will be worked on a bit more before release, and after release by the way. Right now, you are pretty much stuck with o

Have you given any thought to the possibility of letting the player convene the council? Perhaps each player has that option once every 50 turns? This would enable you to make some pretty sneaky decisions - almost like the AI hehe also, this would enhance diplomacy if you could "buy" an alien empires vote for the next UP council ah this could be fun :)

"the real money is in the influence resources......You'll need at least one to keep them off your back." hmm - that poses a problem - current startup spreads these randomly, and since I have no way of knowing whether there are two of those right besides my enemy from the beginning, the "influence war" could be lost before it's begun (:(

Ok - latest developement - I took note of what my Influnce score was in a particular quadrant - 168, now, then I let a constructor in the same turn upgrade a starbase two sectors north of it, and add the 10% culture bonus - and then I checked out the influence score - 170?? hmm,oh as I write I see my mistake, starbases only increase stuff in the particular sector. Well, if that is so, what about resources? stranger and stranger. perhaps all I need to do is find the diplomatic m

Now - this is really amazing - my prediction was right :-) The Yor Collective now is in the lead with influence, after another 8-10 turns. At the graph, the closet to me in influnce was halfway down, and now I'm halfway down with the Yor collective waayy up there. I wish I knew how to to take screenshots - does anyone know this?

Hi, just a little something I thought about... Since I don't know how random the events are, I'm taking a wild guess here and say they are completely random. [Nerd mode]Perhaps there should be a few "if a=1 then do event1 else do event2"[/Nerd mode] I'm referring to a system that decides if the event is practical at the moment. For instance, why with the UP convene, to discuss between it's two members, who are at peace, if there is to be a general cease-fire treaty? Does

Ok - this is impressive - now, about 8 turns later, they have 225 influence in the same sector, and have taken over 4 more sectos kinda sudden like. I have a strange feeling, that this is the same kind of game I will be playing as the ones I've mentioned before, where all of a sudden, everything is purple except for a very small patch which is my core sector.

hehe, now I can you all groan, oh no - not again. well, thanks an incredible usefull tip from Solitaire, I now know about the little button in the top right corner of the sector map that displays the exact amount of influence in each sector. What I fail to understand, is why a sector where I have 85 influnce, and the Yor Collective have 15 influence, the color is still purple(Yor Collective color)? Is this a bug, or does influnce colors mean something else completely??
