they get the speical weapons(sub-space cannon ro whatever that gives it +7 beam) to fight with PLUS the module that adds +1 to all attack scores But what if this starbase is attacked by a fleet with combined attack and defense scores of over a tho

Does spying eventually stop if everybody is spy swatting? At one time spies will get expensive.
There is no doubting how fun Terra stars were in Galciv1 I never played Galciv1, they sound like much fun though. I agree with you somewhat. Even though I think it's best to that starbases should be immobile*, if some kind of Terror stars existed in Galciv II think that would be something different from either starbases or starships and hence
"get your ships away from my zone of control" Nice. I conquered some planets but the surrounding area was littered with influence bases from another race. I would like to be able to have them remove the starbases. I'm the most powerful faction at this stage so I probably could just declare war, destroy the bases and make peace again, but
The Starbase heavy mass would require powerful engines and possibly lots of fuel to move it. To move fast, yes. Otherwise it would be possible to move a giant starbse simply by farting out the window (excluding decompression issues). It would be almost impossible to measure the effect of one human fart, but none the less it would have an effect. </tabl
So whatever is holding starbases in position in the game now is somewhat a mystery? The Starbase heavy mass would require powerful engines and possibly lots of fuel to move it. If you want to use a large structure in space and do not necessarily need to move it, you leave out the engines (and fuel) and you have a starbase. If you add engines
Just hang in there Rigit, I'm convinced that anyone who likes this sort of game can learn how to play it. For my first few games I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, missing most of the information on the tabs because it was just to much. Just to get going, I focused on the obvious things, getting some taxes, doing some research, building some buildings. From there on trying to get another planet etc. I remember from the first couple of games I only scouted my immediate environment
Overall, I like the battleview very much. For a couple of games I made 'game-examples' and made screenshots for important battles. Especially when spending a lot of time on designing new ships it's very nice to watch them in action. I hope that with the pending improvements the battleviewer will only get better! <img src="http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/8446/ge3thalanbattleiconia
a-not-to-be-mentioned feature Yes! I know this one! can I say it? n0v4k4n3, I find you impolite I agree, please keep it civil! It's
I think the modules values should be adapted, I don't even mind the micro-managing, if it gives me something in return. When I started playing the game, I built only fleets, later I experimented with fleets supported by starbases, I then wanted to use a starbase oriented strategy, where most resources would be directed to starbases, like building forts. I would use few mobile forces and they would be relatively underdeveloped, but they would get huge support from the starbases, because
4) AFAIK experience of a ship also increases it's chance for a critical hit. Experience, besides the one meager hp point it gains, is now pretty useless That is not true, see this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=132232&p=2 reply 53 Experience only increases hitpoints
Borders! For crying out loud why can my enemy fly threw my borders at will?!?! This doesn't make sense to me, you have an empire in space, anyone could go anywhere in theory. I think this is just like the evolution from medieval to modern warfare. In the middle ages you could say, this town is mine and build a wall around it. Same with Chinese wa
Captain: 'What's taking so long, we gotta fix the engines! We're stranded in Drengin territory!!' Engineer: 'I'm sorry captain, this is going to take a long time to repair, but a least I found the cause, it says in the manual right here: For each movement past 15 pct, there is a chance the engines will overheat and blow the hell up
I always found it a bit odd how only one ship per fleet can end up damaged. It is a bit weird, but to make this better the most obvious thing to me would be to incorporate ranges in the actual battle. That would mean that ships fire at ships close by and maneouvering would become more important. Even though this could make the battles alot more i
Once weapons technology reaches it's pinnacle and you have 10 supreme dreadnaughts in a fleet and attack one lone 90% dead crappy frigate, you WILL loose one of your nice ships. Yeah, I was talking about scratching the new paint on my ships, but this is even worse and really annoying. This is a difficult matter to solve I think. I would like to
I like your suggestion about point 1 CornhuskerMac, upgrading in deep space is a bit silly and would probably be very expensive. Actually I wouldn't mind not being able to upgrade at all if a ship isn't in orbit IF upgrading IN orbit would be reasonably priced. I usually use one light fighter on each planet to guard for invasions/pirates/vengenance fighters etc. and I would like to be able to keep them up-to-date by upgrading all my fighters. Point 3: I know that in the ca
I see that I can't edit the first post, there are some horrible grammatical/spelling errors in there (as well as not using my correct nickname). I counted on being able to edit my post, which I usually do to correct some obvious mistakes. Sorry about that! Eh, I'm not a native english speaker, does that get me off the hook?
Even though I Galciv II is so great I can't sleep without the box under my pillow, some things keep bothering me, they all have been mentioned before and the reasons why, but I would just like get it off my chest. 1. Upgrading ships should be cheaper than creating new ones, that just makes more sense. I would just like to be able to upgrade my entire fleet, which should be expensive but not unbelievably expensive. 2. Starbases should become very powerful when I take the time t
How many people using a reload strategy? I only reload a previous save if the game crashed, slightly altering the course of the game if it was an old savegame. For me, reloading if something did not go the way I wanted it, takes the whole fun out of the game!
Eternal Flame Is this a ship of the "Bangles" class? I like my capitol ship classes to have non-agressive names, but with dubious undertones like "Peacekeeper" or "Liberator" I like to confuse the enemy shipcommanders: "Sir, a Te
I live in India, ok? And here we don't get this game ... So what do I do now? Move to another country.. Really, it's a great game, it's worth it.
There will be so much more going on and it will probably take me that much longer to get back into it. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, how do you work around it I have encountered that

I loved Enemy Unknown Xcom Enemy Unknown is one of the greatest games EVER! I even play it nowadays sometimes! And it looks worse than it used to, because on fast computers the animations go weird.
