Man, you guys and gals at Stardock are such hard workers and truly dedicated to your products and customers! Thanks to you all for coming in on a Sunday just to get things into our hands early!

Man, I just spent the last hour looking at comical "fail" pictures. Some were truly inspiring. Even if the game wasn't on the up and coming, I'd still be this bored. I really gotta find something to do. :)
Just playin some AOE3. It's entertaining, but I'm not that much in a RTS mood. I fear if I start playing Civ4, though, I'll get hooked on that for a week and miss the release of elemental. Not really sure what else to play right now. I could always finish finding the damn pigeons in GTA4 (and by finding I mean going through the maps online as those things are simply tedious and not fun to look for). Never did finish Red Dead Redemption either. It seems Rockstar games have worn a little thin f

Man, working on a weekend sucks. I'm guessing most of us greatly appreciate the effort :)
I, personally, think reviewers should way to do an actual review a day or so after the street date release. It is common for companies to have one version on disk and release a comprehensive patch upon release that "fixes" problems. This trend was started to deter pirates and get more fine tuning turing the time when the game was at the printers. To do a comprehensive review of a game that hasn't officially released yet is just underhanded and inconsiderate. Now the exc
Sweet, thats all I needed to know. I figured that was how it would be, but just had to ask. The mind starts to ask illogical questions when it gets tired. I've been playing too much AOE3 today. Just not thinking straight anymore :)
Hey All, I was just wondering if the maps are randomly generated or how that all works. I know there is the campaign map (in cloth map form that comes in the limited edition), but I'd have to imagine that there are other maps or random generator parameters and such. Thanks
Ha, thats awesome. I decided to look up Demigod on Amazon and my review of the game is still the main positive review! After 16 months, its still the most helpful positive review. Anyway, at least that game doesn't have an abysmal average review score from the customers. Metacritics is about the same. Too many of the "professional" reviews were overly critical though and based their review on days before the street date. Gamespot, for one, published their review a day before the street date h
Man, there is just no integrity any more. In some ways I'm quite surprised that there aren't any reviews on Amazon or metacritic yet. So often the "smaller title" games end up on there right away, even before the game is released, with an array of reviews that generally average less than what they should. I just hope this "broken street date" doesn't hurt the game like what happened to Demigod. Eventually you guys may have to forego the retail market all together (at the very lea
Quoting WellArmedBoffin, reply 15 Agreed, The Guild is an awesome series. Yes. But I believe The Guild 2 is somewhat too different in terms of mechanics. That, and the load of bugs/twitches/hiccups make it less "enjoyable" than the first installment in the series. But that's just my personal opinion. I still think that both games are good though.
Oh, I should clarify. I'm talking a
Age of Empires 3 Complete is half off this weekend on GFWL, so I got that. First time playing it since I demoed it years ago upon release. So far, the game is actually quite awesome. Taking a break now, though, due to a crash to desktop after a 20 minute skirmish that I was almost done with. It really needs an autosave. Might watch The Guild again. That show is awesome! It "almost" makes me want to pick up WoW again... almost.
I have to say GFWL is rediculous. I've been downloading AOE3 for 12 hours now and it's still only 90% done (and I'm on a 6Mbps connection... effectively tested as of a few hours ago). At least I have a weekly friday get-together where some friends and I watch Stargate and other Scifi'y kinds of shows. I suppose I'll head off to bed (dreaming of various game worlds and all the new cool things that one can do in them).
Sadly GFWL is taking forever to download. After 4 hours, I'm only 35% done. Oh well, I have other things to keep me occupied until that finishes.
Turns out GFWL is having a sale this weekend on AOE3 Complete ($20) so it's finally at a price I'm willing to spend on it. Does anyone else play it? I had tried the demo years ago and thought it was a decent enough game, but didnt want to pay nearly what they were asking. Anyway, what are other people doing while they wait for Elemental to release.
They should just release it today, at least the single player portion. I mean, Gamestop is just going to break street date again and F everything up anyway. SD might as well get the jump on them this time :) All things aside, I'm actually pretty excited for this release (which doesnt happen often.. usually I wait until I can get used copies of games for less than half their retail or wait until Christmas deals on Impulse & Steam). Not really sure what I'm gonna do all weekend. I dont want
The "go on quests" part suggests a city free play style, though quests may very well be tied to cities by obtainment, so building may still be essential. I, for one, look forward to an in depth building mechanic. Building in strategy (and simulation) games is my all time favorite thing to do (which is why Dawn of War 2 doesn't appeal to me very much at all). I'm quite looking forward to this game now that I've read more on it.
I grew from dislike to love with borderlands graphics. I'm thinking this game will be the same. I hadn't preordered the game until recently because I just didn't think I'd like the game (not just graphics), but the more I read (and saw) the more I though... hmm stardock doesn't make a bad game. I'm looking forward to the game now and seeing the graphics first hand. My machine is nowhere near powerful enough to display this game at max settings (though someday I will have one that will), but I
I, too, preordered this morning and didnt get a confirmation email. I just sent an email to support. Hopefully hear back soon. I've had alot of positive experiences when dealing with stardock support, so I wouldn't worry too much. In my case, I want to make sure my CC is ok. I had an issue last year when I preordered Red Faction Guerrilla 3 days ahead of release and Impulse did an initial verification of my CC, but didnt charge anything. Then, upon release, the CC couldn't be charged. I calle
I simply have the problem that I own all of the games on that list that I actually want already. Through steam and impulse. I was hoping Impulse was going to have something up that I would want and dont already have. I felt bad last weekend when impulse had the gothic package on sale (somewhere around $10 I think) and steam came around with the same package for $2. I couldn't resist a $2 sale. I'd like to get dragon age awakens for something under $20, spore complete for
As much as I hate to say it, DS3 will likely use Steamworks as several SE games have released with as of late. I pray that it wont as I'd like to have at least some possibility of purchasing it on Impulse, but the likelihood is pretty good that it will be a "steam only" product. I glanced at the article but it seemed to focus on the consoles obtaining that game. Did anyone notice if it was planned to come to the PC as well? I still have hope that Impulse will obtain DS1&2!
Hehe, yeah, the game setup process can take some playing around. Again, click everything you can just to see what it does. Thats generally a good rule of thumb for software in general. If a piece of software can be broken by clicking something then it probably wasn't worth using in the first place. Mostly you learn alot by using all functionality at least once.
One thing I did when I first started playing SOASE was click on every button icon on the UI (I do that for most RTS games). That way you can get the feel for how the interface flows and how different things interact. Also, set the map size to large or huge and set the computer to a single easy opponent. Turn of pirates at first and build everything, research everything, and generally take your time getting into the game. Set research and income to slow if you dont mi
A few problems that have remained persistant over the course of the game (all the way back to vanilla). Any time a new patch or update releases, my options get completely reset. Every time, I have to remember if it was X or Y axis that I had inverted and it takes a bit of time to figure out which way it actually was that doesnt feel wierd. Generally setting up all of my key binds gets extremely tedious and irritating. Somehow, my achievements remain, thankfully. Within th
